For those of you following the ups and downs of cutting edge research and the characters associated with it ... here's an update from the Associated Press: Hwang's hung!

South Korean researcher Hwang Woo-suk resigned from his university on Friday after the school said he fabricated stem-cell research that had raised hopes of new cures for hard-to-treat diseases. A university panel, releasing initial findings of a probe, accused Hwang of damaging the scientific community with his deception, while South Korea's government rued the scandal surrounding the country's star scientist and said it may pull its funding for his research.

The first post is always important. If you're the serious sorts that is ... because you've grown up thinking first impressions are important .. and you wear a tie .. and you frown upon people who wear sports shoes to work ... thankfully, I grew up very different. I almost never a tie ... except when I'm forced to be school principals (or features editors) ... and I love wearing sports shoes to work ... But here's why you should come here anyway: For one, I will be talking science and tech .. And more importantly, I'm not the first impressions sort ... A couple of quick links before I disappear for a bit: Iran tries to run a pretty closed and repressive society, recently banning western music for instance. But they are having a harder time keeping their net citizens under control in the free wheeling....
