Every journalist knows that if everyone is unhappy with a story, it must be a good story. By that logic, Manmohan Singh must have got something good going with the nuclear deal. First he upset the nuclear scientists, or the proliferationists here in India, along with the non-proliferationists in the US. Now it's a rare and delicious mix of the BJP and the Left, both of whom say the deal must be stopped. The third front, or the UNPA decided to oppose the deal even before they saw the text of the agreement. Of them all, it may be the UNPA that is unwittingly closest to the mark - you don't really need to look at the text to see just who came off better in it. Suhasini Haidar is the Deputy Foreign Editor and Prime-Time anchor for CNN-IBN, regularly anchoring its award-winning show India@9. She entered the world of journalism in 1994 with an internship at the CNN’s United Nations Bureau in New York. She worked with the CNN in New Delhi after that, as a producer and then as a correspondent until she moved to CNN-IBN in 2005. Suhasini regularly covers the sub-continent, frequently reporting from Pakistan. She has also traveled with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to cover his official visits to the US, France, Russia, NAM, SAARC and CHOGM and is the only journalist to have interviewed Singh, Mrs. Gursharan Kaur, and their daughters. Suhasini's also been in the field covering elections in Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir for CNN-IBN. She received her Bachelor's degree at Delhi University's Lady Shri Ram College and her Master's at Boston University's College of Communication. When not at work Suhasini turns off the TV and loves to read, swim and walk. When she is lucky, her two daughters, dogs and husband join in.
