BJP should preserve its identity
Nice to see the BJP triumph after a slump in the Lok Sabha and Uttar Pradesh elections.
BJP shouldn't ignore its Hindutva rhetoric because it is the life of the party. It is Hindutva that has given an identity to the BJP. Pseudo-secularists like the Congress and the Communists were rejected by the people.
This victory clearly shows the unity of all the Hindus who have taught a lesson to the vote bank politics of Congress.
The BJP can only succeed if it preserves its identity. It shouldn't hesitate or feel embarrassed to say that its Hindutva ideology has fetched it the victory. What is wrong in saying so
when there are Muslim parties in our country who raise the issues of only one community and these parties are not considered as communal. ....
A new direction in Indian Politics
A lot has been said about Modi, his victory and style of politics in last 2 days.
One change has started in Indian Politics by this election.
Modi won an election purely on rightwing politics which was not seen in India before.
1. Nationalism. 2. Security 3. Economic growth & Development and 4. Reforms.
First three are talked about a lot in media. People forget the fourth one.
Reforms in the power sector, reforms in administration and accountability of bureaucrats, reforms in industrial establishment. All these were under state control, so he can do it. And that gave him a portion of the votes.
This is pure right-wing politics. Plus his own charisma. He made it look like an American election. He was responsible for everything. The buck stops at him.
By the way, this trend shows a long term implication in Indian politics.
India ushered into a coalition politics era in mid nineties. If we consider....
Grow up
We saw in the past that so called intellectual media in general and political commenters in particular always had a problem with BJP. In this election it was the first time that they went beyond this image and were looking like unofficial spokespersons of Congress. We know everyone has a cause to criticise BJP through Hindutva. Still I'm not clear about their definition of secularism. Congress becomes secular after repeated incidents of riots like '84, bhagalpur, list goes beyond that. Communists have staged a Nandigram but they are secular...so can anyone please tell what is secularism? ....
Indeed, Golden eras are repeated
Obviously, Gujarat is going through a very good decade. Some barriers in the form of majority-minority dividers (Congress & allies - the usual villain in a commercial story called 'election') and intra-party poisons just could not prove their presence. We should indeed give the congress the most deserved award for adapting 'secularism' at the cost of losing their security. They have even won over the western invaders before independence, in terms of appeasing the minorities. Hindutva mantra of BJP is now less frequent than secular mantra of congress and the left. When will they learn true governance? They should stop chanting this secular mantra and using it as an excuse for failure of nation's development during their tenure. The word 'secular', from their mouth really stinks. Let them invent some other pseudo-agenda for their next election campaign in the pipeline. ....
MODI CRUSHES CONGRESS, REBELS AND MEDIA
The spectacular performance of one man, Narendra Modi, had made his critics speechless. It's his intergrity, honesty, hard workmanship,non-corrupt image and real result-oriented positive developments, which has led BJP to a stunning, and amazing victory. Modi was virtually alone against the Congress, the so-called rebels and the media, but he very well knew that the people of Gujarat were with him. He had a personal special chord with the "aam adami" of Gujarat. He was never complacent and trusted only his real trusted colleagues. He backed his trusted colleagues to the hilt at the same time was ruthless on his own back stabbers. He has a lion heart and does not hesitate to take tough decisions. The mere fact that Kesubhai Patel, Gordhan Zapadia, Kashiram Rana, Dinsha Patel, Narhari Amin Ahmed Patel etc were decimated clearly shows that they have no mass base but only are gloaters. This will be lesson....
Saluting the democracy & a lesson for pseudo-secularists
Modi's victory once again emphasizes the true spirit of democracy.
In spite of repeated campaign by his opponents & above all the media, he stands tall. You just cannot go to the public elections after elections only on this fake secularism plank. The progressive state and the people of Gujarat cannot be rubbished for the fact that they have given
a mandate to Modi. Are the people of Gujarat communal for voting BJP for the third successive time? Why are the Congress such bad losers? Who is the mask? Is it the seasoned politicians of the Congress hiding behind Sonia or an efficient and a right in your face attitude Modi. We have a two-state party, CPM, trying stunts to rule the country by their backdoor politics. You just cannot feed & take the common public for a ride just on secularism.
What is wrong about Hindutva and its ideologies after....
Son of the Soil
Modi's historic win in Gujarat is a new turn in Indian politics which shows an India election can be won on development issues. This election has shown above caste and politician, it's an era when people vote on the merit of governance and ethics of leader. When everybody was putting it hard for a close and hard-fought election in Gujarat, Gujratis has other things to show the world. They showed that they voted above case and netas and beyond communalisms. Nobody could believe that in Muslim-dominated areas as well, Mr Modi won 14 seats out of 21. It means they are also welcoming the agenda of develop, ent and more importantly "Jeetega Gujrat". This election was more of between Modi and opposition(congress, rebels of BJP, VHP and others) but Modi emerged as "Son of the Soil". Among all speculation what he achieved was the reward for all of....
Gujarat Verdict
The Gujarati voters have confirmed that they do not want the secularism practised by the UPA where Hindus are freely allowed to be killed without any resistance by the terrorists and the denial of justice to the anti-Sikh riot victims wherein the PM and his boss - the UPA chairperson - and allies have determined to ensure that the culprits will never be brought to book. They have also shown that it is only those who told the nation a bloody lie that the DMK had a role in the killing of Rajiv and pulled the Central Government down and forcing election on the country but subsequently rewarding them with ministerial berths of their choice, are the real culprits to be punished which they did it. The BJP is accused of playing communal politics. It has got the right do so so long as the UPA follows its....
Modi, the one-man army to lead BJP!
Brand Modi is now a national icon of the BJP. Modi's landslide victory has the full backing of majority Hindu community in Gujarat. Political observers may agree that his third in a row election success means a direct challenge to the BJP leadership, particularly Advani. The man playing Hindutva card can even cause concern for BJP in the coming days if the BJP doesn't dance to the tune of VHP, Sangh Parivar and the RSS to their agendas - that also include whipping up passion on communal lines. Modi is the new pied piper targeting youth not only in Gujarat but all over the world with his firebrand speeches on saving the nation from terrorists. If the BJP fails to read between the lines and try to control Modi preventing his inimitable styles in ruling Gujarat, BJP will be split with Modi forming a new party....
MEdia
I talked to many many people y'day and today and everyone is talking about how media has got egg on its face after the results were announced. The ME (read me only) part of MEdia was so much pronounced that they forgot that there are other people in this country who might have different opinions than them. I could see happiness in the initial hours of counting on their faces where they said, even if Modi win "He is cut to size" (NDTV) OR Even if Modi wins "He can't get visa to western countries" OR "Even if Modi wins, BJP loses". Whoever wins or loses, I would request my media friends to leave ME from the Media discussions and INclude real people before making an opinion and make this country a better IN-DIA. ....
Mega Modi
Good luck, Modi for future ambition. ....
As Sibbal as That
Mr Kapil Sibbal has lost yet another battle. Whereever he has been deputed, Congress has done worse than expected. His language prompted more people to vote against congress. Now, common man thinks he is BJP's man in congress. ....
Gujrat is winner
These elections have proved that if you have a strong and honest administrator like Modi, you can win elections. Some questions has been raised by his authoritative style of working, but in the end what matters most is development of people and state. This is the first election I have seen which was not won by communal or secular politics, or by caste division, but was comprehensively won on development issues. Although BJP has won by 10 fewer seats as compared to last elections, but this win should give them more confidence than last time coz last time there was communal polarisation of votes. ....
It's time for congress to rethink
I am pure Gujju. Love state and nation, first. I think this is the point that most of the Gujjus having and this is the point most time, Congress failed to initiate. Modi is Hitler, he is Genocide, he is arrogant, he is "Maut ka Saudagar". So many words are used till date from national level from so called Pseudo secularist, NGOs, NHRC and other parties who themselves are doing so many anti-social activities and won the election mostly on muscle power. In reality, those who knows Modi, will not believe any of this word. Nobody from outside knows what is Modi. Only people from Gujarat can say that. After Chimanbhai Patel, this is true Gujju who initiated Gujjus' "Asmita" and that's the reason why people love him. If you say something to him, people believe it's against Gujarat. No Gujju will ignore this point when he....
Power of Brand Modi
Mr Narendra Modi has proved without doubt that he commands respect in Gujarat. The people of Gujarat have voted him in and now the opposition must accept defeat and join hands with him to build Gujarat which is the state with the highest investment today. Congrats Mr Modi. ....
The elite accepts defeat
I am not a great supporter of Modi or any party, but over the years I have strongly felt that the elitist class in India has been increasingly unable to understand the social changes happening in India. It is a fact today that the so-called backward/ other backward castes and peasant classes in India have become democratically more aware of electoral politics and therefore are driving the shift in political power equations. Modi being a BC of the Ghanchi Teli community has proved this and will continue to rise. The elitists should change their feudal mindset and accept the reality and base their predictions which in turn are based on the realities of India rather use imported Westernised way of thinking. ....
Truth Triumphs....
Modi's victory is a true example that Truth always wins. Sathyameva jayate! Congress's cunning campaigns have gone waste and it will happen in future also. ....
Pseudo secularism
I dont know hether CNN-IBN will ever read my blog or not but this blog is my personal views on pseudo-secularism in india. Ever since my childhood I am fed up with people around me saying caste, religion. I don't understand why media, social activist people are still not after Congress, who always say caste and religion is there in all politics. Some times, I feel very disappointed by seeing such good journalists also attacking BJP. I feel a party is like a stock, stock not only moves by fundamentals but also some times on technical points. I feel people of India should be proud of themselves for the kind of environment we have for minorities in India. It cannot be there in any part of the world. You go to Malaysia, Pakistan, Afghanistan any where we still provide the best facilities to them.....
Modi Wins LAndslide
One thing I like about Narendra Modi is that he is not corrupt and he discourages corruption. It is a great victory for him and that is good for our democracy that clean politicians like him are around. ....
Future voting
There can be many reasons for huge victory of BJP, but the Gujarati voters are sharp in speculations, as they are also anticipating NDA in power after next Lok Sabha election, and the people of Gujarat know that their progress can be doubled if NDA comes into power in Delhi. So, it's all about future voting. ....
Time for Modi to change
Its really remarkable that Modi came back to power with almost 2/3 majority. Congratulations to him. No doubt he came back to power by completely polarising Gujarat, he systematically and intelligently targeted minorities in his speeches to spark off the communal divide, very effective for him to win the elections. I must say that job well done. He used the communal weapon to get back to power. But now he must learn to change, change to have inclusive growth of Gujarat, change which will be propagated to all sects and communities of Gujarat. Moreover if he or people think that now he is the material for Delhi, he must change his stance towards minorities to become widely accepted. To start with, nothing would be short of wondrous if he apologizes or express sorrow for post-Godhra riots, leave alone taking the responsibility. ....
Super Sub
BJP termed Modi as the Man of the Match. They forgot to thank Sonia who played as a Super Sub by saying "Merchant of death". But unfortunately, she played for the opponent. ....
Lesson to Media - Gujarat Elections
People of Gujarat have shown you that you can not be fooling people endlessly. Superimposing your views and masquerading as public opinion under the garb of all kind of surveys and polls (at best of doubtful integrity). It will be good if you learn the lessons and start being what you are expected to be: Reporters who report the event (data and not interpretation) and not opine on it and start being demi-gods. ....
Time for Introspection for Journalists
Will the media now stop demonising Modi and accept him as an efficient and non-corrupt Leader? ....
Who's Lost n Why.
Modi's win was so comprehensive that discussions on election results threatened to turn boring. It was almost like a one-horse race! So most TV news channels diverted the issue to who won: BJP or Modi. Here's my list of losers and why they lost: SONIA GANDHI - for mindlessly reading out speeches written by a Bollywood script writer with dubious background. RAHUL GANDHI - the baba (kid) of Indian politics. The kid should be made to listen to Modi's speeches for nothing more than to learn how to modulate one's voice. PM MANMOHAN SINGH - the 15% prime minister who seems to have mortaged his intellect, soul and ego. CONGRESS PARTY - or whatever is left now. it was BJP's 'B' team to start with. PSEUDO SECULARISTS - every time the likes of Teesta Setalvads open their mounths, the distance between....
Respect MODI Respect Gujarat
I am really surprised how the media and the congress is treating such a fantastic win. Give him the credit he deserves. What happens next is BJP's internal problem which I think bjp can solve, than the media helping to solve if Modi grows beyond Gujarat. To be honest, whom did we expect to lead BJP after Vajpayee? I am again surprised at all this hype around it. See, the truth is that Gujarat loves Modi the way he is. Why are we worrying? Let the people there decide whether he is communal or not. When it comes to development again when people think they have progressed then they have why do we go about these statements that Modi was lying in all his speeches. I will complete this with a question to the world which hates Modi do you think 5.5 crore Gujaratis are fools to believe....
Moditva rocks
Moditva is the new phenomenon that will shortly rock the whole of India. Friends, if we leave aside Godhra he is the best! If Modi names his candidature for PM, no pseudo-secular forces can stop him. INC will stop getting votes in the name of Mahatma Gandhi and they themselves shall become minority if they don't stop harping on the tunes of minorities. ....
GOVERNANCE FACTOR
Reams have been written about the Gujarat election and Modi in particular. Pundits of all hues have made their analysis and forwarded many theories. I have followed closely and failed to understand why are the critics not understanding that Modi has provided a modicum of governance in the state. India is no longer governed by any govt. It's run by babus at the Centre and state. Modi took on the rusted babus whose decisions affects our daily life. He made them work. He was not a durbari politician in Congress mould. He has kept the middle man and power brokers from day to day govt operation at arms length. Like a CEO of a company he has taken upon himself to see things are delivered. Rest of the chief ministers in states are busy surviving day to day intrigues. Where is the time to take decisive actions. I think....
Media's Villain & People's Hero
All people in Gujarat as well as the urban educated class around this country and NRIs had not only expected this victory but were praying for this so that they do not get marginalised in their own country. Only the English media did not want to see the writing on wall & behaved completely ostrich-like. It is sad that all the three English channels whose very viewrship is urban middle & upper class was shamlessly busy Modi bashing. I can expect this from NDTV but even CNN-IBN as well of all channels - Times Now was bashing Modi or the BJP and allowing Kapil Sibal, Jayanti Natarajan, Jaipal Reddy, Singhvi, Sitaram Yechuri, Moily etc to talk nonsense after loosing elections while continuosly trying to have digs at Jaitleys, Prasads and other BJP men. I saw more Aajtak yesterday than ever due to their balanced presentation. ....
Victory of Change over status quo
Modi was being cornered by so-called progressive elements on issue of treatment to minorities in Gujarat but all ignored his theme of Development. If one can assess the global as well as national trends, people at large are not interested much in politicking as much they are connected with Development Agenda or the Growth story. He touched that cord. Look at villages of Gujarat. With Narmada, drinking water problem of thirsty regions of Saurashtra , North Gujarat and partly of Kutch is tackled in a direction which has considerably reduced hardships of people and helped farmers from vagaries of monsoon. Crime rate (when compared to other states) is much lower than most of other states except few hill states. On unemployment front , Gujarat hosts many migrant labour after absorbing its own work force. Textile units of Surat, Ahmedabad, ship-breaking units of....
Modi-Developed Gujarat Vs Congress & Left
The Left and the Congress are criticizing Modi for his role in 2002 communal riots. How can the Congress forget the anti-Sikh riots which was led by its so-called loyalist MPs. Has the Left forgotten what is happening in Nandigram.
If you look at Gujarat, there is continuous supply of electricity, while Congress-ruled states like Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra do not have electricity in the cities for about 4-6 hours a day leave along the villages. People have started shifting their factory establishments from MIDCs to GIDCs, because there is no continuous power supply in MIDCs.
Gujarat has most number of SEZs coming up, but you will find there is no violence at all, but the Left is not able to control the violence in Nandigram SEZ.
Modi has given Gujarat a double-digit growth which the Left can't even think of. So political parties of the respective states should stop pointing fingers....
Putin or Bush
Yesterday, a featured blog entry compared Narendra Modi to Putin. The more apt comparison would be Bush. Bush, despite the Left-leaning media (CNN, NYTIMES ETC in the Indian context pseudos like you guys), the universal dislike for the man of everyone except those of the people who voted for him. There is also this uncompromising posture to the ideology. You don't change your ideology because it suits the politics. A leader has to guide and not follow.
Here is a man who needs respect and only respect. Few politicians deliver the way he has, who are enough in this country full of wretched incompetent politicians and bureaucrats.
In parting, it's the right time for the media to report facts and feelings of the people and not carry out your personal agenda. Not that you are going to change, but I guess irrelevance suits you better. Prannoy Roy, Rajdeep, Barkha Dutt etc....
Oh my darling son! How do I explain this...
He is 21, has never voted, is frankly more interested in Quentin Tarantino than Narendra Modi and yet was moved to pronounce Narendra Modi's ascension to the Gujarat de Gaddi as "a terrible event and a precursor of a holocaust". I was thrilled when he said this. Why, you might ask? Am I a closet commie? You might ask. Have the jehadis' been chatting me up? You might ask. Well no! I am a normal namby-pamby Hindu female and I find all this slaughtering of people, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Isaai whether in Gujarat or Iraq extremely offensive. But I am equally appalled by the mumbling Manmohan Singh talking of the poor, the oppressed and the laggard Muslim as deserving of a better deal from his minority government while retaining absolute silence and seeming inaction on the terrorists attacking innocent Indians all over the country. ....
Republic of India
At this important juncture, the helm of the ship of state, the Republic of India is primarily in the hands of the Media. The agenda of the executive and political power has been entrusted to your judgment by the people of India, in the hope that you will leave an ethical and proud legacy for the generations to come. Unfortunately the nightmare of the BJP misrule persists in many parts of the Republic and the constitutionally guaranteed rights of minorities are still being violated with impunity.
The perpetrators, the victims and the average Indians know that Narendra Modi's government engineered the riots in Gujarat resulting in the death of 2000 innocent people and injuring hundreds of thousands more in 2002. The justice to the victims is being denied because the BJP controlled governments in Gujarat and at the Center concealed the evidence, precluding a citizen's ability to seek redress in....
Development v/s “Democracy”
The Gujarat elections this year were always supposed to be a landmark event in the history of the state. In many ways it involved a contest between the "ruler of hatred" and a party with "secular credentials", a "dictator" and the assumed "highly galvanized rebels", a "polarized campaign" and the national media (not to forget a battery of intellectuals), a "repetition" and a "wave of change" and thankfully a "development" model and the so-called "aam aadmi". The elections were all the more significant as not only would they possibly impact the equations at the central level but can also very well go on to decide how future state elections in India are contested. The National media and more importantly the Congress saw it as its most realistic chance of toppling Modi. Narendra Modi was fighting against a resurgent opposition, a perhaps righteously hostile media, a hapless anti-incumbency....
Well done
Well done, Modi bhai. Be rude on development and let the fruits of development be shared only to those who want to share. ....
Gujarat Election
BJP's victory in Gujarat is an eye opener for all political parties.
Electorates of Gujarat are intelligent enough to elect one party on the basis of development of state and welfare of people.
Multi party system does not work in India and it causes uncertainties among coalition government. They can not work freely and fail to take important & bold decisions.
I salute people of Gujarat for giving majority to one party. It is a learning process for all political parties.
People want development, job creation and strong democracy in our country. People need now governments in states and parliament who can rule our country without fear of divisive forces.
My question is simple. Whether coalition style of government is good for the nation?
Frequent elections cost to the nation. People are tired to see fractured democracy.
People of India would like to see India as developed nation.
....
Good Luck-Narendra Bhai,Good Luck-Gujarat
Nobody can approve what happened in Godhra & post Godhra(riots).I still remember the T.V. report where its shown that one neighbour is throwing stone by "chanting a religious slogan" to another neighbour's house.
Why politics brings us to that level? Why we see our identity in one particular community? Are we not equally Indians in every right, then why some identifies themselves as majority & some minority? We have no answer for this big "why". Perhaps all of us are collectively failed as a part of civil society. Why blame politicians alone?
This is happening for last sixty years since our independence, every political party is involved, whether its 84 riots, Bhagalpur, Mumbai, Gujarat or Nandigram.
Gujarat has developed & developed beyond imagination. It has a potential to grow as a bigger business centre than Mumbai. Perhaps Gujarat can give us our first Hongkong, Sanghai or Singapore. It certainly has potential.
If the trends....
Jeetega Gujarat in Real Sense
Firstly let me congratulate Mr. Modi & BJP for the remarkable win. There is a lot of debate around why the campaign is "Jeetega Gujarat" and not Jeetega BJP or Congress.
As a Gujarati and well wisher of the state, this win gives confidence to lot of industrialists and Multi Nationals to invest in Gujarat which definitely is the best state today in country - may it be in terms of security, quality of life & infrastructure.
Gujarat had struggled to get this attention as most of the industrialist were waiting since 2002. What Mr. Modi is doing and most of them would be waiting to look at 2007 results before putting big money in Gujarat.
What it means for Gujarat is more development, more employment which also is applicable to common man (which most of people disagree that Modi does not focus on common man)
I foresee a great future for development....
The Vibrant Gujarat
The Vibrant Gujarat - SEZ of Gujarat will be more aggressive on so-called development and it will be very tough time for ordinary Gujarati people on the issue of livelihood. The Gujarat and India which is shown on TV by BJP and UPA is not the real Gujarat or India. I am really worried that today fiction is reality and reality is considered as fiction of activists like us. In fact in recent Gujarat Election 2007 I and others cast our vote by using provision 17 A Form to cast "Vote Against All Candidates", though inadequate. What to do when we find that no party or candidate reflects our ideology and will not protect our rights? Can voting for the 'lesser evil' ever take us towards building a genuine alternate? The answer is a resounding NO. One way out of this situation is by....
Gujarat Elections Footprints
Gujarat Assembly elections are over. A heavily bitter and ferociously fought election since the last Lok Sabha elections came to its conclusion. Most Pre-Poll and Post Poll predictions by almost all news channels/ newspapers are almost unanimous that Modi will be back as CM. Whatever would be the actual outcome, we would know on December 23rd!
But this election has left some most significant footprints on our political landscape. There were some first seen things, first experienced activities and first witnessed events during this elections.
The enormity of this election was such that another one going on in Himachal Pradesh is completely forgotten by everyone!!
No matter on which side of political divide you are in this country, you will agree that the outcome will impact national politics forever!!
In my view, the biggest striking features of this election are following:
a) Direct/Open Participation by Common people:
We saw (through almost all portion of news....
Can gujarat redeem the nation?
The campaign guns have fallen silent across Gujarat and the voter has made up his mind. Thanks to the paranoia of the Election Commission, the liberal thinkers have a little time to fool themselves about the outcome of this election. The bad news for them is that they are dead wrong. The good news is that no matter how bad their judgement is, their reputations are secure.
The most impressive man in this election has, of course, been Narendrabhai Modi himself. Not only has he negated candidate level anti-incumbency, he has distanced himself decisively from the murky politics of caste. Gujarat 2002 allowed the people to answer an important question: If a man walks through your drawing room door and slaps you in the face, would you sit down with him and assuage his grievances? Or would you just plant a heavy foot in his backside? The people of Gujarat....
Where is Gujrat lost in this election of Modi?
Undoubtedly, Gujarat election was the most high profile election of the year 2007. Whether it was a common Gujarati or NRI industrialist, political leaders or media persons, and many more to count a vast population was directly or indirectly involved/interested in this election. Despite Gujarat being one of the most developed state of our country, development and disparity were hardly got any space in this election campaign. This election, if remembered for long time, then definitely for the low points it touched during the last couple of months. Gujarat, a state well known for industrialisation and also has very god agricultural productions and dairy productions, was presented in this election in totally different colour. Blueprint for industrialisation, farmers suicide, the drought/drinking water problem in Bhuj/Kachch region, Narmada dam etc. are the issues one would expect to be in the limelight during campaign in this state. Sorry..the actual....
Modi is one and only Lion of India
Mr Modi has done wonderful job for the people of Gujarat and he will be winner once again. The people who want to divide and rule will never get any kind of success. He is No. 1 CM and he will be No.1 CM in India. So all I can say long live NAMO! ....
India could do well with more leaders like Modi
Recent Indian political history has only seen a decline in strong and honest leaders. Mr. Modi is one of the last remaining few. People might call him an authoritarian, but the need of the moment is just that. He has not only turned Gujarat into a model state with terrific development but also given the people a corruption free government. He has also single-handedly defeated all his political detractors- dissidents, the dynastic Congress and also the so-called secular media. Kudos to Mr.Modi and also to all the Indians who believe in the development of the Nation. Would wish that he would soon become the PM of India and that'll put India back as a strong and an honest nation in the international arena lead by a strong and an honest leader. Jai hind ....
Making of Gujarat by Narendra Modi
Election results will be mere formality to crown Modi as CM. Does this victory means victory of Narendra Modi or victory of a Gujarat? The answer is pretty simple: it's a victory of Gujaratis and Gujarat's Asmita. "Congress has ruled Gujarat for 45 years prior to BJP." One question I had was does the realisation and set up of infrastructure in Gujarat was not viable during their regime? Congress does not have any out-of-the-box thinking and vision to do for people of Gujarat. Modi means to Gujaratis as a man of words, good, governance, integrity, vision, execution and gargantuan love for Gujarat. Being Gujarati, the tangible results during Modi's regime are power, water, roads, education and bureaucracy. Re-election of Modi has come with lot of expectations, too. People expect to have more jobs for all levels, as well as growth of all....
Victory of India
Congratulations everyone! This victory is a victory of India/Hinduism. This victory is a victory of development politics. This victory is a defeat of minority politics. This victory is a defeat for biased media. Modi will be India's PM one day. ....
Modification
Modi has done well in terms of development of state. What matters most is, he is not routine politician who took advantage of power by giving licences to relatives and party worker. Since politics hasn't interfered we have seen good development. Everybody has used caste and religion of votes. Riots in Gujarat has been magnified by media which is not a bad thing (within limits) but not the best thing to do either (in excess), as we have seen some more radicals to take advatage of it. Nandigram and Kashmiri migrants deserves the same focus if not more. ....
global gujarat - now, more strenght to fly higher
We in Gujarat believe in global gujarat and global gujarti. I'm a chartered accountant studying in Europe for my MBA.
I have been to many parts of India, but there is no comparison to Gujarat. The immense development BJP and Modi have done for Gujarat is uncomparable.
though, mr. modi is autocratic, his style of working has changed the govt. machinery to work really efficiency and has changed the face of Gujarat. Some of the initiatives by modi is really remarkable...
one best example is the starting of 108 service started just before 6 months of election...108 service is provided by govt. and is like 911 kind of service..which provide for police, fire and health assitance anywhere in gujarat on emergency basis with just one phone call..
this kind of revolutery changes has made him leader of growth and that is why leader of gujarat....
i hope tht..he will continue his development saga in gujarat....

Face of Indian politics though the Gujarat magnifying glass
I've been following the Indian politics since the time we got our first cable television connection at home back in 92, and since then, its been just a hell of a battle. A match called BJP vs Congress is played every single time and the game gets dirtier and dirtier every time. The face of this game is exposed every time there is an Assembly election or national elections. This years Gujarat is just a magnifying glass with a higher magnifying power. For the past one month, when I open the web to read my daily cup of news during lunch time, instead of getting to know what issues have been raised, I have seen the bitter war of words going on between two sides. One of my personal reasons of coming abroad for higher studies was to look at a question I've wondered for years! ....
Media v/s India
December 06, 1992 - a date remembered for destruction of the disputed structure. Hundreds of pages have been blackened by eminent 'intellectuals' depicting it as independent India's worst nightmare.... This day marked beginning of very hard, hostile and acidic Secularism. The word now in India has another meaning than what Oxford dictionary describe.
India saw a very naked and brazen competition among journalist fraternity, which was groomed by overdose of Socialism and Russian styled communist dogmas, to come up with innovative adjectives for Right of Centre political ideology. The ideology which was struggling to establish itself as alternative to Nehru-Gandhi dynasty styled socialism.
But on the same day (December 06, 1992) a more important event was totally overlooked after initial coverage. No comprehensive history was prepared /documented. The event was - Beating up of Journalists physically by 200,000 Kar Sevaks gathered in Ayodhya.
Almost all prominent journalists of that time were caught....
Welcome Narendra
Bookies were counting him away (IBN owe that to a mathematical error as they published a headline saying that based on some wrong interpretation of bookies calculation). All news channels were shying away from controversies because they were also not sure whether the statistics that they were getting from their exit polls were correct or not so they all decided to go with a bigger bands (ex - IBN's 90 -110). So on the lower side of these bands Modi needed just 1 or 2 seats to prove his majority while on the other hand Congress was getting majority at the upper end of their band. So in a way the news channel were keeping themselves away from any controversy (Congress is still at the center and some time back they were also talking about regulating the media). The bigger threat was being associated with Modi and that means damage....
Victory of Hardwork!! Go Modi Go
Thanks IBN live to give this opportunity to write our feelings and sentiments in terms of words. I hope this will not be censored.
Well it was very much definite that Mr. Modi and BJP is going to win the Gujarat Election and there was not second thought for it in any of the Gujaratis mind. I totally agree with some one who wrote that Mr. Modi is another "Sardar" in terms of development. Development work that has been done by Mr. Modi during his period of work is outstanding and no one had imagined the extent of it.
As far as the rebels are concern we all know well how Mr. Patel had handled the situation in 2001 in the times of Earthquake and it was Mr. Modi who had taken the leadership from him and full filled the dreams of all Gujaratis in Gujarat and overseas.
I salute Mr. Modi....
Modi, tiger of our nation
The BJP is all set to return to power in Gujarat as early trends showed the party bagging over 100 seats in the 182-member state Assembly. The saffron party appears to have done unexpectedly well in North and Saurashtra regions. The BJP rebels didn't do well and failed to make any dent in the party vote bank ....
Spiritual Vs Secular
The primary results seems Mr.Modi will just survive. But definitively it will be a warning to Modi as well as BJP. I think this is good symptom for BJP that, they can correct the areas they are lacking of democracy. ....
Victory of Development,
The verdict in Gujrat clearly reveals that people irrespective of caste ,creed and communities look forward to a government which would provide them with the basic requirements of food, electricity and water supply and proper education; it is because of the fulfillment of these criterion that the BJP has been re-elected to power for another five years. The pseudo-secular parties and their pseudo-secular leaders should take a note that the condition of minorities in Gujrat is far better than any other state in the country, they support the BJP government because it has rose above the minority appeasement policy and have worked for the betterment of the people. The Party rebels like Keshubhai Patel have also taken a major nosedive and it has served in sending a strong message to the termites in the party.
Surely BJP would come out strongly with this victory in the national arena but we have....
Hey Ram...Jeetega Gujrat to Jeetega India...
Recently on Thanksgiving day here in Los Angeles, I got my hands to a 25th aniversary DVD of Gandhi in one of the superstores. My instinct made me purchase it though I have watched it several times on our good old Doordarshan. Yet when I watched the movie again,I could make a few startling discoveries. Like in the English version, when Mahatma is assassinated, he speaks out 'Oh Lord' contrary to 'Hey Ram'. This may seem to be a trivial issue for all our great intellectuals out there, but for me...I went into some serious thoughts.Surely the English version could have used 'Hey Ram' and translated it in subtitles to 'Oh Lord' but no....and this is where lies all the trouble.
True, in a country where a chief minister like Karunanidhi goes scot free calling Ram a drunkard and a figment of imagination followed by Buddhadev Bhattarcharya remarks echoing the same....
Bush or Modi
Why the indian media and so called secularists be always against Modi and not against Bush and other western leaders. Modi, too, like Bush is against Islam fundamentalists and terrorists and Modi is the best non corrupt administrators. Media should stop this fashionable word secularism as people hate this word now. ....
GUJARAT SHINING
Today's results reiterate the fact that in the democracy, it's ultimately the general public who matters the most. BJP's win is on the foundation of the performance delivered by Modi's government.
Moreover, results also have message for the INC to actually focus on the core issues rather than indulging in sub-standard clichéd issued. People of Gujarat have closed down the chapter of Godhra, to move forward for the real and inclusive development. Gujarat does not boast of swanky establishments of IT giants nor F1 track, but has made difference to the lives of the people. I overheard some congress leader quoting on a news channel that people have fallen in trap of Modi. But you take it anyway, Modi has been selected by the people for themselves, as it rightly said "for the people, of the people and by the people.
For media, they should grow up to mature journalism and....
Indian Democracy is vibrant: Congress could have made it
I think that the Gujarat elections have shown that democracy in India is very vibrant and strong. It appears BJP will win the elections, but the loss of seats, especially in central Gujarat, sends a strong signal to the party: people of Gujarat have rejected the politics of hate. If only Congress had better organisation and a local leadership that had the confidence of the central leadership, I think the results could have been very different. There were many in Congress who thought Gujarat is not winnable. Congress was relying too much on the BJP-rebels and the media to boost its performance (as was evident from Bharat Solanki's comment on the support from the media). The trend shows that if Congress had carried a confident campaign, they could have come close to a majority. ....
Gujarat's BJP legacy
Gujarat polls in the year 2007 will not be a cakewalk for the Congress party as it is facing a lot of resistance from the Narendra Modi-led BJP. BJP is fighting polls on the basis of the ongoing development basis in the state in spite of having bitten by the Hindutva bug and the Godhra bug and others and this is not going to affect the BJP from having coming to power again. Modi led from the front and I feel the Congress may have given resistance to the BJP by only taking up developmental issues. Modi is anyways not going to slide down the poll results due to all this petty reasons. Meanwhile, Congress is facing lot of problems due to its own programmes in the centre with its own allies refraining from giving support to the Sonia Gandhi-led party. ....
Chandrababu Naidu's historical mistake
You would wonder what Chandrababu Naidu has to do with Gujarat polls. Immediately after the Godhra riots Naidu had demanded for removing Modi from the CM seat. He was the convener of NDA and if he had stuck to his demand his name would have been permanently written in the history books. May be that would have led to midterm polls and may be loss of power for NDA but that could have been a promotion for Naidu in central politics. But because of his historical mistake Modi has capitalised and now is all set to enter the national arena. Congrats Modi. All the best. Politics is all about choices and decisions. You stuck to your path and you are winning. People like Naidu and Congress who always try to balance secularism and also woo the Hindu voters have always lost. It doesn't matter....
Congress must stop
More than the BJP or Modi, the Congress comments like "Maut Ke Saudagar" has helped BJP win in Gujarat. Sonia Gandhi must change her script writers and should also start understanding Indian sentiments. ....
‘MODI – Master Outsmarting Defunct INC’ again
It has been looking like that Gujarat election was about a personality due to obsessed media coverage of the particular person, but if we look closely, Gujarat assembly election was fought on very subtle issues which will have very long lasting impact on the Indian Democracy. Further I believe with Narendra Modi's historic comfortable win 2007 Gujarat election is going to prove a mile stone in the history of Indian democracy for multiple reasons. One of example, it is first ever election of Indian democracy in the last two decades at least, which has been won on development plank. If it would not had been exceptional development then instead of this sort of bitter united opposition, media bashing and backlash from own party, Narendra Modi would not had won at all. If we look at the Gujarat result in detail then Modi has done better in Saurashtra instead of strong....
CONGRATS MODI
We have been seeing n number of elections in our country. True to the nationalistic pride I see the types of MODI the future of India. All said and done a non corrupt development oriented person who on ground has shown at least ATLEAST some development, which has happened post independence , unlike Congress who has been ruling for donkeys years. Unless they are caged or sent packing to old age homes our country wall not progress has not done anything what ever they claim they have done even a donkey can do if it is in power for as many years in a country . The so called congress will also not help the country. Modi and your vision on development realise the promise keep it up for the people and for the country. I think Indian youth will salute you for the kind of development what you....
Neither Modi bhai nor Sonia Ben, Let it be Bharat Maa
This is my blog(700 words) for the competition announced by IBNLIVE today morning,
My details : Male aged 23 years old, named DK Upadhyay.
Neither Modi bhai nor Sonia Ben, Let it be Bharat Maa. This Sunday morning before the results and leads start pouring out, I have a feeling Gujarat 2007 might just turn out to be India Shining-2004. Everybody, almost everybody like newspaper editorials, reports, analysts, common man from the 'majority' domain feels Narendra Modi might win. There are valid points put forward by really experienced analysts and seasoned politicians just like they were put forth in 2004 general elections, where the India Shining Campaign failed miserably. Today also there is chances the masses have neither bought his 'development' agenda nor the 'communal'one.
With the way things have turned out, Narendra Modi has today become an icon. Almost comparable to Hitler. A 'Hitler' in 1930s can be....
Pray Modi wins
He has evolved as a CM. The guy is dynamic, has a lot of enthusiasm for the progress of Gujarat, and above all, is honest. The even more problematic thing is his alternative. There are hardly any good alternatives - most of them are perceived to be corrupt and non-efficient. These guys will ruin the economy of Gujarat which is well on track. That's why I pray that Modi wins and carries out the progress he has initiated - in the fields of finance, IT, power reforms, clean administration and a riot free state. ....
A vote for development
People like directed thoughts and not indirect axes, with trembling bows. It being a prosperous practical state, the focus of people had been more on relevant/direct issues rather than irrelevant/indirect issues. For example, I see this in the light of controversial statements made by Congress and BJP. Congress later says that their statements 'maut ka saudagar', was an indirect statement, so they could not capitalise on it. Had Sonia Gandhiji been brave enough, she would had been as committed to what had been stated by her. But she was not honest in her statement, which was evident from the justifications that came implicitly. Whereas, BJP's statements were inherently direct, it reflects in their success. Lesson: Fortune favours the brave!!! We are in an era of 'The World is Flat'. Gone are the days, when India was emotional in making its judgement/decisions. Indians are very....
Modi is the man of the year 2007
Modi has proven all his critics wrong once again. Hats off dude! India needs characters like Modi and Jayalalitha and India growth story very much depends on these characters. Sonia Gandhi killed whatsoever chance Congress had by calling Modi 'merchant of death'. Perhaps her immaturity showing up. Thank god she did not take the Prime Minister position, otherwise she would have put India in an embarrassing position many a times. ....
Narendra Damodardas Modi: 'Na Bhuto Na Bhavishyati'
Who is Narendra Damodardas Modi? Why is he being hated by so called Indian intellects? What is the reason behind a systematic propaganda against him? Why has he been made politically untouchable even though he is democratically unbeatable? Is he the facilitator of the Gujarat riots or has he been made the ultimate victim of the Gujarat riots?
An answer to all these questions is that in post-independent India, Narendra Damodardas Modi is an unconventional Indian politician. He has challenged conventional Indian political wisdom and created a complete no-nonsense, non-corrupt and non-dynasty-based leadership. He has not succumbed to the pressure of people, media, politicians, or intelligentsia. Independent India is full of unresolved problems. I will classify these problems into two categories: rational and emotional. Rational problems consist of poverty, population-growth, hunger, unemployment, electricity, water, roads, infrastructure, education, health, Hindu-Muslim unity, Kashmir, Pakistan, and Islamic terrorism. Emotional problems consist of religion,....
Third groups emerging in Gujarat and Himachal.
The big mistake in the approach on Gujarat Election not only by BJP & Congress, but also by analysts & pollsters is that, they all try to isolate Gujarat from the rest of India and assume that, the clear trends in National politics won't have an impact on Gujarat.
The news reports, election campaigns, and surveys focus too much on the superficial drama and not on the strong undercurrents. The cliché in the TV is the dual between Modi and Congress. But the tussle in the society does not happen in the line of Party Politics. The friction created by political and economic policies on the life of ordinary man gets its asymmetrical reflection on the various forms of outbursts of society. I remember a few decades back only around 35% of the Gujarat voters chose to vote in the elections. Only 51% of the voters vote in USA. Donkey....
Should we forget the dangerous Modi
I agree that we should not forget how Modi come to Gujarat. I know his part of coming was wrong but now on today's victory. You should forget past and now look for better future. I am certainly confused that should we set lessons that you can come in power by wrong done and stay and after then do good. But that's how it all happens in matter of politics, businessman, so even we don't want to do that thing. That's how it's going to happen. And it's much better than people like Lalu(intelligible but greedy) and keshubhai(innocent but dumb). In the end I am really happy after the results. ....
Kaun Jitega Gujarat? My Anaysis and Predictions
In recent years an election in India that has generated feverish interest is that of the western state of Gujarat. The electorate in Gujarat voted in two phases Dec 11 and Dec 16 and tomorrow the votes will be counted. Those of you who have followed these elections know that this is about the current Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi.
Over the years, my research interests have been in Artificial Intelligence and pattern recognition. After much thought, I decided to undertake an exercise of making prediction about the election results in Gujarat based on my pattern recognition algorithms and compare those predictions with actual results. At the outset, I have to concede that I am not noted a pollster like Pranoy Roy, Dorab Sopariwala or Yogendra Yadav (of CNN IBN) and my understanding and knowledge of the techniques used by psephologists is very limited.
The data for this exercise....
Victory of CM (Common Man) Modi in Gujarat
Victory of Modi shows that now days voters have become quite mature to take the decision by their own. No matter media, Congress, even some of BJP leaders become as rebels, national and international pseudo secular Organization (NGOs) were against Modi. But people of Gujarat has given clear cut verdict in favour of Gujarat's CM (Common Man) Modi shows that ultimately Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander. Bharat Kumar Thakkar Singapore ....
BJP HAS FOUND BAJPAYEE REPLACEMENT
It does matter who wins this election in Gujarat. Modi has fought against the odds. He has shown the figure of a leadership which BJP needed for some time. Country as whole is watching the result but in the heart of every one he is victorious.
He has got charisma, dedication and real leadership qualities.
I wish his hard work is recognised by the party and the people. ....
Deja vu ?
When I see leader after congress leader dish out reasons for their failure, it's déjà vu ! Messrs Rahul Gandhi and Co, it seems, can do no wrong, win or lose!! I have been following the coverage on IBNLive through the night and its interesting how even "supposedly" neutral journalists seem to completely miss the point! The social activist on an IBNLive show right now never answered the question as to why she has never raised Nandigram though she never tires of calling Modi a fascist! Speak about standards! Ms.Activist goes on record to claim that the state and the country will pay for Modi's victory! My god! Some people do think they have the sanest heads around :-) don't you think there might be one or two out of the 50% of Gujarat that voted for Modi who might have at least as much sense as you ? Mr....
Please don't overrate it
To begin with, Let me be say it honestly I have been a great admirer of CNN-IBN for the quality of media approach they follow and its a fact I consider IBN and NDTV the only two channels that understand what needs to be discussed and broadcasted but as far as Gujarat elections are considered I think, you guys have overreacted on this. Come on you cannot comment that Gujarat elections will decide the future of Indian politics. I am of firm belief Gujarat poll result will have no impact on Indian politics. India has lot of other problems/ issues to look at rather than looking at Gujarat.Gujarat is only one of the 28 states in India and when it comes to Indian politics you have many other issues at hand mainly Kashmir, North East, Pakistan, China, Nuclear Deal, Development, Gap between Rich and poor widening etc etc. Coming....
Impact of Gujarat trend on national elections
Here are my certain observations about Gujarat elections
1. Gujarat election results are to be considered as the victory of Modi and BJP clearly has fewer roles in the success.
2. Gujarat elections clearly will make lesser impact on national elections since national elections are simply a realignment of different small forces spread out in the country.
3. We have 6 national parties, about 20 regional parties and about 80 small parties participating in the national elections. Realignment of small parties for an electoral setup was done in 1999 elections by Mr Vajpayee. But in the next election small parties may stand along with congress due to reasons like the boom in our economy(say the appreciation of rupee).
4. The chance of Modi emerging as a national leader of BJP in the recent future is very less .The reason is that Modi does have a "Merchant of death" image in other part of the....
Gujarat -The Land of Iron Men
Gujarat Elections 2007 will surely be a landmark in the Indian history. If Modi wins, he is set to stay in the Indian political tamasha and spread his influence all across "Hindustan" (as the BJP call India). If Congress win, they will not have any major opposition in the country at least for a decade.
Modi has his version of development. He proudly says, Gujarat is ahead in every aspect when compared to any other state in the country. This is true to some extend, keeping in mind that it is a Congress government in the centre.
Let me not talk about religion for the moment. But, was there ever an incident where Modi was found corrupt? Was there ever an incident where Modi helped his family or friends politically?
And lets hear about the Congressmen and women. All the Congress & Co ruled states are flourishing with corrupt leaders. Let it be....
Moditva
Well, it seems like I am watching Congress Network News. I am not surprised but let me tell you since Modi has an eye to eye contact with voters he will turned out to be victorious. Also instead of bashing Mr Modi you folks should talk about Nandigram and farmers suicide in Maharashtra and high crime in UP. I can totally give you a biased news network title and at the end you will have to eat a humble pie after Mr Modi's win. Neither I am a Gujarati nor am I an Indian citizen but I still favour his developmental work and ideas. ....
Why I chose Narendra Modi?
I am Secular Gujarati who love Muslims as much as love Hindus. I perform puja everyday but same day I vist my Muslim friends' house to attend Eid celebrations. I hate politics of polarisation as much any true "secularist" does in India. Here the term "secularist" means true secularist, who hate both side of fundamentalist activists. I almost decided to vote for congress this time but there were some incidents happened & I changed my mind and I chose to vote Narendra Modi. Now let see who forced me to go with modi? I was looking at the CNN-IBN's Gujarat special programme. Programme started with regular "Modi bashing" & than diverted to Gujarati people. Anchor termed Gujarati people like this, "During the Kargil war maximum funds came from Gujarat, Gujaratis are famous for indirect war, they dont fight directly but pay others to fight for....
Final countdown in Gujarat
As Gujarat prepares to count the votes cast in assembly elections, both the BJP and the Congress are confident of forming the government in the state. All three exit polls conducted by TV channels - Star News, CNN-IBN and NDTV have predicted a BJP win. The BJP camp is witnessing additional activity because of the issue of notices to senior leaders Keshubhai Patel and Kanshiram Rana who had led the dissidence movement during the elections. Just a message to all the voters, no matter what the media prints or shows its all dependent when the counting starts. Both the parties are predicting their win but BJP is the party which will merge out to be winner. There are number of reasons why BJP will win: 1) No party can solve up all the problems and keep everyone satisfied. BJP has done a lot of development work....
Are you thinking?
Everybody is accepting the fact that GUJARATIES are generous in all the spectrum and GUJARAT is leading state in INDIA, then also some of the pseudo-secularists are still thinking that the fabulous victory of Mr. Narendra Modi & BJP is just because of the factors like communalism, polarisation etc. Also these set of people are sitting outside Gujarat saying that fear factor is working and not the development, even after this verdict!!!!So, my question to all those including activist like Teesta and politician like Mr.Abhishek & Kapil sibal are you still thinking "THE COMMON GUJARATI MAN LIKE ME ARE FOOL???" Being a Common Gujarati I would like to advise all this pseudo-secularist as well as Congress party AS A WHOLE to introspect/do some soul searching to find out where they going wrong! And also they should come out from this psyche! That will help us to build our country as....
Pace and Size Of Modi's Growth
I am just trying to concentrate on outcome of leadership and change in party within BJP, if Mr Modi was able to make a win. When a person grows in unexpected pace his own friends start becoming rebelling against him. The same concept applies for Mr Modi also in Gujarat. His pace and size of growth in Gujarat was unexpectedly great, which resulted so many rebels for him from his own party. Unfortunately so many of them are the person who supported Mr Modi strongly in past. Assume Mr Modi wins in Gujarat election (which will be decided soon). If it happens it will going to change BJP party itself in centre, also. This win will definitely make Modi a big face in center BJP. BJP leaders like Arun Jaitely, Murali Manohar Joshi, Sushma Swaraj, and count some more name on the list who are in....
Gujrat ka sher
I have been following IBNLive for Gujarat coverage almost everyday. I can see one conclusion based on my experience as a viewer. Gujarat is on a verge of changing history for Indian Politics. Narendra Modi says what people believe somewhere in their mind but hesitate to say out in the open. I am not a reporter or an astrologer but I can say that Mr Modi is bound to win. The speech delivered by Modi is far better and more meaningful then given even by Sonia Gandhi. it gives you the real picture of Indian politics, whether good or bad. Congress definably realises this and in fact admits it by using soft language. I am not sure who has given Modi the title of Gujarat ka Sher, but today it does reflect in his personality.
India should move forward irrespective of who leads Gujarat.
Proud Indian ....
Full majority for Narendra Modi as shame for india
It is almost impossible to defeat a person like Narendra Modi because he had learnt what the people want .And the ground support was provided by the hatred propagated by the RSS, VHP and other similar organisations which was the main player in popularising Hindutva.
Narendra Modi has put the this Hindutva as Gujarat discovery so that every Guajarati feels proud that supporting Hindutva can bring so much change in Gujarat. The BJP will use this Hindutva experiment to whole country especially to north India later. Since Gujarat has been state for lot of investment so presently Narendra Modi is taking all the credit for that. The history of congress rule in Gujarat has given Narendra Modi to give him enough material to warn people of Congress rule again in state. So I predict that BJP will win the election with full majority and if Narendra Modi stays in politics....
Modi Should Win
What people actually forget about Narendra Modi is his slow and gradual move towards proving himself as a best Development oriented and democratic leader.
What happened in 2002 in Gujarat riots was a difficult moment to digest, however we should not keep the past in mind and stop planning for the future. It is to be noted that Narendra Modi has since then realised and regretted the riots within and is trying to pay back to the people by working hard towards development and benefit of people of Gujarat which include people from all the community.
Whenever there is a statement on a terrorist, the speaker is blamed for dividing religion, but opponents forget that the terrorist have no religion.
In this election, because of Narendra Modi's principles of good administration and a corruption-free government, many people have withdrawn the support to him including his own party members, however he still had....
Hindu religious majoritarian politics a blot on Democracy?
When Narendra Modi swears by 50 million Gujaratis, it's obvious he does not include Gujarati Muslims in that. If the 15% percent section of the society is completely neglected and tortured and decimated and exterminated because of the prevailing international scenario after 9/11 where crimes against Muslims by the governments in the state-sponsored terrorism are overlooked , how can it be Gujarat is shining? It's only the Hindus selected by Narendra Modi that are shining. How is he different from Hitler when Germany was at the top in terms of economy and technological innovations and Gujarat is nothing in front of Nazi Germany and is only so called "shining" because of the foreign direct investment and Modi is taking pride for the changes being brought in due to gloabalisation in the whole of India. How is the present Gujarat different from the Aparthied era South Africa where a....
Development Victory in true sense
In true sense, this is victory of all the development work which Narendra Modi had carried out in past 5 years. The Gujarati community is a business oriented community and there focus has always been on development, growth and progress. It is just next to impossible for Gujarati's to vote on communal grounds with no development going around. Narendra Modi's state has excess power as against the so-called "Secular" parties ruling Maharashta where the load shedding is now a routing thing. At the end of the day, it's the development which matters and not appeasement of minorities. ....
Gujarat: A sad defeat for peaceful co-existence, and a disastrous defeat for true Hinduism
Neither it was a victory for B.J.P, nor is it a defeat for I.N.C (CONGRESS) in Gujarat. Religious fundamentalism & dictatorial fanaticism have won , and sadly peaceful coexistence has been defeated.
Neither CONGRESS nor B.J.P had anything to do with this elections as political parties as their parts were reduced merely to puppets which danced to the tunes of MODI and ANTI MODI factors.
Another point to be noted here is the Gujarat voters were sadly blind folded by their temporary emotional heights on the basis of caste and creed instead of long standing future of the state and country political scenario.
The true Hindutva or HINDUISM to be precise never preached or advocated or followed aggressiveness or fundamentalism and terror and hatred on the basis of caste or creed, on the contrary Hinduism literally stands for peaceful coexistence. For which Modi and his followers had radically stood on the contrary. The....
Modi's victory in Gujarat - Some Lessons
Shri Narendra Modi is all set to be the Chief Minister again at the end of December 2007. For a rational bystander watching the socioeconomic transformation of the 'Gujarati mindset' in the last half a decade, this victory was already written on the wall.
The scale of Modi's victory proves that if an incumbent Chief Minister and his colleagues are in a position to map mindset changes correctly and succeed in providing adequate and timely economic policy and political responses, people do come out and vote, and vote effectively.
Let's take an example. Hard infrastructure, such as 'roads'and 'ports', are at the heart of 'trade', an economic activity, which involves at least one person per four households in Gujarat and most importantly almost 85% of the Gujarati middle class households. Narendra Modi's government understood that if it links major towns and cities (and not villages) with these ports with good roads, and....
BJP vs Congress is Just Like India vs Pakistan in Cricket
It is quite amazing when either news channel or radio or political analyst or common Indian as all of them always refers to or relates terms of Cricket so that it can address vast people and make it easier to understand. One thing really fascinate me at least comparison is used with the sport (Cricket) which is a team sport rather than Individual Sport like Tennis or Chess.
Even what happened today in Gujarat is quite a reflection of what has happened recently between India and Pakistan.
You can compare Indian cricket team with BJP in terms of the circumstances. When election movement started in Gujarat, BJP has been facing similar problem at national level as BCCI was finding hard to find proper Coach. Also Modi was constantly tortured for Godhra just like whole Indian world cup cricket which lost against Bangladesh and knocked out of world cup.
While Congress was....
Democracy wins

Let us past be bygone and work towards future
The way Japanese and world have forgiven USA for its action in World War II,the way Indians has forgiven Britishers for all the atrocities they committed during their India rule and the way all Indians have gotten over the bitterness of disturbing atmosphere during partition of India for all there ,Let us all have the same spirit of forgiveness and togetherness in Gujrat also and march towards achieving the common goal of development of india, uplifting the people out of poverty and a peaceful world. If Narendra Modi wins, then let us all get behind him in true spirit of democracy and with a positive attitude. ....
'Jitega Gujarat' jeet gaya, but did India win?
As I write this, probably BJP and Narendra Modi would have won the Gujarat 2007 elections. Were many people surprised - I don't think so, though some wished for (wishes are not horses). Did people wish BJP and Modi to win - there are different answers to this question depending on what one believes in. Lets' put in perspective what this win means (in terms of Gujarat): 1. People of Gujarat won. They have won definitely as they don't have to live in anticipation of change of policies or development, which probably would have been the first casualty had the verdict been the other way round. 2. Development won hands down. 3. Communalism lost. As Narendra Modi loses more seats in the riot-affected areas. Also, the communalism issue projected a great deal by Congress, is probably not as important to people as basic bijli, sadak, pani. 4.....
Narendra Modi- King of Gujarat
Narendra Modi has proved all the exit polls wrong, he is the man of the character and has a great vision about developments of Gujarat. As a Gujarati outside the country, I always have witnessed great developments in the state whenever I visit India.
I think, all the hard work over the last 5 years by Narendra Modi has paid off.
I wish all the best to Modi and I am quite sure Gujarat will achieve great milestones under Narendra Modi's leadership.
He is the true Gujarati hero. I am not big fan of any political party in the country but Narendra modi has won this election on his own. It is just a one man army.
Congratulations ....hats off to Modi..... ....
The fact remains - Modi is
First of all my million thanks to IBN for taking this initiative by asking us all around the world to blog in.
Every one understands the basic fact that there has been a great influence of western civilization on the Indian mindset and this trend is nowhere to stop. Gujarat is one of them. Development of multiplexes, malls - many in numbers, communication technology, latest gadgets, all have seen a sharp rise in their public acceptance. This is the only place in India where government has seen a western influence too - land of Modi Inc. Does this translate out to be good or worst thing?
This is where role of media is questionable. There have been many terms that have come into existence for Modi and for Gujarat.
MODITVA: I would say this to be "tatva" of Modi and "tatva" in Modi that wants to a make difference for state. I....
Next Thought
Is there any leader who thinks of stopping minority politics?
yes we found NaMo. He was supposed to do good work of development and he did and won election. Being played for 45-50 years of minority politics within Hindus congress got this defeat.
I know if matter is between Hindu Muslim than its big issue but counter argument real issue lies within Hindu itself too. (I believe Congress played that politics for long) and now they are also getting its punishment.
Being a Hindu I never liked concept of sc/st/minority etc...... Though its offered or deserved by Hindus too.
After 50+year of independence we all should work hard if we want to make country great and celebrate success equally.
All social fabric and culture issue are really not at all issue if not considered at political level.

Jeetega Gujrat to Jeetega India
Recently on thanks giving day here in Los Angeles, I got my hands to a 25th aniversary DVD of Gandhi in one of the superstores.
True, in a country where a chief minister like Karunanidhi goes scott-free calling Ram a drunkard and a figment of imagination followed by Buddhadeb Bhattarcharya remarks echoing the same....
Hats off to Gujrat people
Hats off to Gujrat people. By electing Modi again, they proved that development is above all the issue. Congratulation to Modi. India need politician like Modi. My advice to Modi is to make all the government office functions available online to get rid off corruption completely. ....
Gujarat Poll
BJP Victory in Gujarat is not a victory of any political party. It is a victory of development and sustainable growth of state under the aegis of flamboyance of "MODITISM". He is a Mascot, a winner. ....
Bhagwan ka Ghar
Modi's victory in Gujarat does not exonerate him for his heinous crimes on humanity. Even Hitler enjoyed popularity in Germany for years before he made it a hell. Modi's victory does not make him any less criminal than Hitler or Osama bin Laden for being responsible for killing innocent people. This would be like being part of a celebration of Osama bin Laden if he gets to rule Saudi Arabia and he implements development programs there. Nothing can wash off the blood that these people have on their hands.they have abetted killings and rapes. It's not only peoples court Modiji there is a final court for all of us - the day of reckoning - Bhagwan ka ghar!jahan insaaf zaroor hoga. ....
Whoever wins - is it a people's victory?
60 years and running since independence - what is the real mudda (issue) in our elections?
Is it the people or the politicians?
Is it the Hindus or the Muslims or the Christians or the Dalits?
Is it Sonia or Modi?
Whatever happened to the real issues - does anyone know what they are?
What if we had no elections, no political parties, no (over imposed and superimposed) government?
Has the 'Indian' in all of us won, is it even there?
Can elections and governments give us equity, equality and equanimity? ....
A case study required
Forgetting the politics for a while, I would like to see a case study on the development Modi has done in Gujarat. I believe he really should have done a good job. Indian voter can never be fooled with rhetoric twice consecutively by the same man.
Coming to the politics, I think Indira Gandhi still haunts Congress. It is she who shattered the grassroots level support for Congress for her personal gains and none of the leaders who took the baton there after could recreate that. I believe this lack of grassroots level support has resulted in Congress' defeat in Gujarat today. It might have revived a bit in the last general elections but if it could not create a strong rank and file, Congress will sure go down as a party basking in its lost glory. Has Congress have any plans towards micro level strengthening of the party?

MODI'S VICTORY A VICTORY FOR INDIA
The victory of Mr. Modi in Gujarat against the backdrop of the vicious campaign led against him by the anti-Hindu UPA government & their media hounds (who tried to impress the UPA Agenda on the minds of the public & failed), is the victory of the common Hindu man, it's a victory for India, which today reels under internal and external threats and is a defeat of the anti-national forces which continue to work towards destabilizing our Nation.
The Congress, its allies, and the anti-national forces left no stone unturned to ensure Mr. Modi's defeat, whether it was raking up the Riots issue or the Sohrabuddin issue or their continuous tirade for 5 years against the Gujarati's in general. Their campaign against Mr. Modi was so vicious and all encompassing, the likes of which we have never seen in any other election, which seemingly left the Modi supporters with no voice....
Want BJP to WIN
There are number of reasons for which I want Modi to win 1. Modi is an example of perfect leader for Gujarat. On the other side Congress don't have any big leader and their leaders are like puppet being controlled by others. 2. BJP is better than Congress when it comes to the issues of farmers. Congress is ruling Maharashtra and Center but the farmer in Maharashtra is worst affected. 3. When BJP was in Center, they came up with number of good projects like Quadrangle (Roads connecting metros), Interlinking of rivers which is being ignored by Congress. If this happens then biggest problem like Drought, Flood, Irrigation, etc will resolved and in turn maximum people get relief. 4. BJP and its allies have better person and politicians than Congress. 5. Finally Suggest BJP in Gujarat to provide help in order to uplift tribal. ....

The Educated Class is behind Modi
Going through Modi related online news/articles over the past 2-3 weeks has led me to believe that the educated class is firmly behind Modi and the pseudo secular-English press is completely against him. Look at the reader responses to most Modi related news/articles and one finds that the educated class has become firmly pro-Modi, very anti-muslim and has begun to view the English media with great skepticism - and for good reason. ....
The 'Modi'fied Indian
There are several reasons why we consider Gujarat to be the epicentre of Indian destiny. The greatest share of this expectation is because of the phenomenon called Narendra Modi. To the modern Indian voter, Modi remains an impossible event which nevertheless happened in India: an honest, capable man being at the right place, at the right time with the right outlook to lead India's economic engine, Gujarat to greater heights of prosperity, order and justice. No wonder, we cannot wait for him to move beyond Gujarat into the national level as the PM.
A small wonder that he has been one of the most charismatic personalities to grace Indian polity. A bachelor with an incorruptible image and with a very ascetic style of living, few can deny the messianic halo that cloaks the man as he marches to his destiny for the greater good of all Indians: Hindus, Muslims, Christians....
MODI'S HISTORIC WIN
That Modi has convincingly won the Gujarat Elections is a slap in the face of the Congress Party and all the media channels who have systematically criticised Modi and accused him of all the wrongdoings. That the media today is a purchasable commodity is clear from the moment you see the planted speakers and selective comments aired. That Modi won despite Sonia Gandhi branding him as a 'Maut Ka Saudagar', despite dissidence within the BJP and despite the Congress's all out efforts to defeat him, speaks volumes about his personality and charisma. In the last general elections, the Congress got only 9 seats more than the BJP, yet they crowed from rooftops that they had been given the mandate to rule this country. How they joined hands with the communists, who never saw eye to eye with them, and never will, and other sundry parties only for the....
Of Moditva and Moribund Matter
I'm a Gujarati - fiercely proud, yet someone who favours pragmatism and fairness over effusive sentimentalism and communal rhetoric. This is why Sunday morning came as a much awaited relief to me. In between all the political platitudes, one thing that stood out conspiciously was that the people of Gujarat had once again delivered a thumping mandate in favour of Narendra Modi (Not the BJP, but the Man himself).
For all of the nonsense arguments put forth by the Congress, all its communal rhetoric, and its 'Maut ke Saudagar' sagas, it forgot one thing. Gujaratis are intelligent people. By nature they are traders and know instinctively who or what is best for them. Furthermore, the people can feel the difference in the taste of the water they drink, the quality of the roads they drive on, the decrease in the number of power cuts, the improvement in quality of life. Top....
All said and done, Modi has won
In the month leading to the polls I had a fear that the last remaining dynamic leader of the BJP might not hold on to his base anymore. After Vajpayee, leaders like Jaitley not making news any more and the death of Pramod Mahajan, supporters of BJP like me want someone like Modi. Someone who can put the fear in the opponent's mind, someone who can assure that BJP is still a strong party. But, for some reason every news channel/reporter was trying to be his/her secular best and according to them the best way to do that was by being anti-Modi 24 hrs a day. Probably according to every news reporter, Indian politics has become perfect in every sense. It has become a utopia we had all imagined and craved for all these years, a place where a person like Modi was a virus; who if not removed might....
BJP's Landslide Victory
Congratulations Mr Modi for the historic victory. I had been to Gujarat recently and could sense the mood that people have forgotten 2002 and are happy with the developmental plans that were unfolded by Modi over the years. I suggest that Congress should look for more dynamic, Indian leaders. ....
Gujarat Election - new direction to the politics.
Congratulations to Modi and only to Modi. Its not victory of BJP or RSS or VHP, it's Modi!. I think the reason people vote for Modi is for development and for non-corrupt governance. Question for every Indian is if Modi is our hero and if we want administrator like him, should India think about presidential constituency like America ? ....
Best Wishes from Hyderabad to Narendra Modi
It is a great feeling to see Narendra Modi win with thumping majority in Gujarat. He has proved all his detractors (including the press) wrong. People are no longer blind....they can SEE who can do good to them (Leaders like Narendra Modi) and who are nothing but a farce. Well done, Gujarat. Well done, Modi. India is waiting for you. A very warm wish from Sujatha Kanthan & all from Hyderabad, AP ....
Moditva a model for BJP but what does that mean?
Modi's amazing victory should be seen by BJP as a great success of the party, when the whole party can get behind a local leader and then go to polls. I feel BJP can duplicate Moditva outside Gujarat, but then what Moditva means in Rajasthan is not pushing Modi in Rajasthan but going with same strategy as in Gujrat, but with Vasundra Raje and in MP with someone else who has real charisma. I think it is a great day for BJP and they should learn from this victory and remember it is all about leaders. Don't worry about rebels who only think of breaking parties and not about building them. If someone wants to rebel throw them out and focus on people who can build organization. :) I am a great believer in Democracy and I don't see much difference between US and India. :) ....
Charming Modi
Once again, he has proven to be the miracle man. He is such a guy that no one can defeat him. I would like to congratulate him on his tremendous success in these polls. This is a victory for all the BJP fans. ....
Histroic win for BJP
First of all, great congratulations. This is a historic win for BJP and Modi. This victory changes the political dimensions in the country. ....
What's media strategy now?
Now, will the media accept Modi as a leader of Gujarat and a man of development or will it still hang on to Godhra and will repeat him as a villain of minority community? When no one in Gujarat speaks about Godhra. why does entire India still speaks about it, and specially the media? ....
Lessons for other States
Please highlight the fact that Mr. Modi won though he did not promise:
a. free colour TVs to some people.
b. free electricity to some people.
c. reservations in educational institutions to some people.
d. job reservations for some people.
He won though he did not send his party cadre to kill and rape and generally pay back his opposition "in the same coin".
I hope the other States also take a book out of his page in asking for votes based on their performance and not on populist or terrorist measures.
And the real victors are the people of Gujarat who are trying to put behind them the trauma of 2002 and to look forward to a time of opportunity and equality (where no group is favoured in any way). ....
You win, I win
Hi, I think Sonia and Modi should not stretch legs of each other. Elections is the place where common man can decide who can lead the leadership based on the performance he/she has done in past and unfortunately Congress has done nothing. Ultimately, what it means that they are not thinking of Indians they are not thinking of development. They only think about the chair. Words like 'Maut ka Saudagar' doesn't looks good from Sonia Gandhi. I think that Sonia should understand the slogan 'You Win, I Win'. ....
Gujarat victory
I am NRI from USA. I am closely following this current election and progress of Gujarat under Narenrabhai leadership. Let us all agree on one point that after Godhara riots most of the experts and media projecting that all new investments in Gujarat will be stop because law & order situation is worst but look after 5 years , Gujarat is one of the best as far as the investment is concen
Congress and Media telling that development is only for 5 businessmen, but can state be developed without development of their own people. Who is getting employment, of course local people. Today Gujarat is first state in India after 50 years which provides 24 powers to everyone even our capital did not have this thing.
I strongly belive that all other CM shouls take example of Modi and start working on development rather than cast and others
Modi go ahead we all....
Modi: A Hitler in Disguise
I strongly condemn what happened in Gujarat in 2002 in the name of religion. In the land of Gandhi and Nehru what happened was utter shame. Indian dream is a land of equal opportunities for everyone irrespective of caste and religion. But the modern India seems to go somewhere else.
Still politicians like Modi uses communal card and names it Hindutva. This is not Hinduism this is Hindutva chauvinism....and there is a difference between the two. He can be called as an Indian Hitler after the Gujarat carnage. If truth be told even the commissions and the tehlka tapes wasn't armed enough to touch his silhouette. He is still a free man and would soon be crowned as Gujarat Chief Minister. This is because there are still prejudices among voters, particularly the urban ones in Gujarat.
The common people should understand that the development is meaningless until and unless it has been....
Will Modi do a Stalin?
If democracy is a crazy carnival, elections mark its orgasmic photo finish. Nothing has proved this point better than the elections in Gujarat, where every regressive genie was released to the arena - be it caste, creed or sub-nationalism. Real democracy was sacrificed at the altar of real-politik. Congress was looking for a non-existent revival story and BJP for the perpetuation of reign over its beloved 'paathsaala.' Regardless of the political party which wins, the real loser is Indian democracy.
Initial reports suggest that Modi is all set to be re-elected as Gujarat CM. Short-term gains withstanding, this victory will destroy BJP as a political organization. Any cadre-based party will undercut itself, if it has the predicament to depend on personality-cults. Modi with his mountainous ego and holier-than-thou attitude will do a 'Stalin' to USSG (Union of Saffronised Sanitised Gujaratis), leading to the eventual destruction of a party and its....
Times magazine, Not Putin but Modi
Had Time magazine delayed its choice for Man of the Year by a week it would have been Modi and not Putin! Although I am a Madrasi living in USA, Modi's brand of politics has fascinated me. Had this election took place some 2 years ago, probably my favorite politician Jayalalitha could have learned a trick or two! She also contributed immensely for the development of Tamil Nadu and contested on development story, but she failed in a closely fought election. But she will bounce back. I am sure she would have learnt the trick today. ....
Modi all the way
It been a remarkable win for Modi, he is truly a strategist, he has made the Congress, Keshubhai, Suresh Mehta look as mere ducks whom he pounced like a tiger.
He has given a new strategy to the world to fight rebels with denying seats to seating MLAs and has come far more victorious than 2002 in Saurashtra, north gujarat
would also want to add that the exit polls in India are just not worth talking about, they have never come near to the reality.
Moditva is here to stay in Gujarat for sure ....
Modi stays on to take Gujarat further up
What a way to win!!! Inspite of many people disliking him (for whatever reasons). He has done a world of good for Gujarat and the common man understands it and has done justice to the effort put in by Modi and his team to make the state a better place to be in, better place to work in, a better place to look further and make it stronger for a better tomorrow.
Congratulations Modi and continue the good work. We still have a long way to go.

Modi is the Putin of Gujarat
Hi this is Ritesh from Singapore. Well i think Narendrabhai Modi is the Putin of Indian Politics. Against all odds, the Congress party, the Central Government, the Tehelka scams, the rebels etc he has come as a clear winner and I guess it is time for him to take over a larger role in Indian politics. Well he has done good work in Gujarat and people love him respect him just like Putin in Russia. I guess what Putin is to Russia and Narendrabhai should be to India. He should get a US & UK visa soon. Putin is the Time Person of the year and I suggest IBNLive Person of the year should be Narendrabhai. ....
Much hyped Patel Factor didn't worked - obviously!
For one being Patel, doesn't mean to follow Patel leaders. Most of the psephologists do not understand Patels better. Myself being Patel and raised in Mehsana district I mean what is it. All people of Gujarat knew that those Patels crying for Patel community were crying for themselves. Likes of Dirubhai Gajera, everybody knew what they are up to (The land issues around Surat). When I was in India in 1998, we used to call Keshubhai government as "Dothiya Chaap" ministry. Gujaratis in general, and Patels in particular are forward looking people. They cannot be polarized on communal issues. "Dhando Karva Do". Second important factor and that might have helped Modi is Keshubhai being from Saurashtra and being Leua Patel. How? North Gujarat and Ahmedabad are mostly Kadwa Patels. And being people from Saurastra crying against Modi have tempted them for vote for Modi. ....
Say no to corruption and win elections
Most people in India say that communal feeling is a big negative factor for Indian development. Even Congress is saying that. But being a young Indian I will say that corruption is the major factor in India. Young India's slogan is Say no to corruption and win elections. This should be applicable throughout the country. ....
Post Gujarat Elections
One thing is for sure that, we need to appreciate the one man show in Gujarat Elections. The BJP has seen its win at a narrow margine because of one and only one person i.e Mr Narendra Modi. He has been successful in influencing people for supporting him, which hardly any leader could do in Gujarat. He can win elections on his own, without anyone's support. Narendra Modi has shown that he is the true leader of Gujarat, with hardly any focus on other leaders in the Centre, who did not even turn up for campaigning.
But the BJP as a party has many weakness. There are many loopholes in the party. Congress as a party is very strong. In case of BJP, if Modi fails to deliver than there is no backup left in the party, but this is not the case for congress. If one fails to act, there....
Ahmedabad to aa gaya Delhi Door Nahin
Honest, people-oriented rulers were idolised by Gandhiji and Dr Ambedkar. Modi is a peoples man and fits the role. It's high time Congress starts working like Modi. Development is opposed by rebels but they have to be quelled the Modi way. ....
Gujarat election
Congratulations to Sri Narendra Modi for his outstanding victory, single-handedly against the dissidence of his own party men. We request that he should use this opportunity to improve the living conditions of the poor people who may belong to any religion. ....
Gujarat jitega
Dear IBN, Thanks for providing opportunity to share our thoughts. We (My wife and I) think that Mr. Modi has done lots of great things for our Gujarat. I am from small village of Junagadh near by Bhesan, Kesubhai Patel's constituency in 2002 and also from Patel community. We have seen many developments in my village, such as 24 hours electricity, Naramada water for drinking and good road infrastructure. Mr. Modi is a visionary and knowledgeable leader. He knows how one can develop the region and also knows what are the real problems of Gujarat. He has the leadership qualities that hardly can be seen in Indian politics. Each politician seems to save their Satta (power) in India by any means even if they are Dr. Manmohn Sigh (As in nuclear deal), but what we have seen in Mr. Modi is that he does not....
Narendra - Another 'Sardar' of Gujarat
This is a great win for him because he was fighting against his own corrupt members within. He was fighting against national media. He was fighting against those who were not getting enough benefit for his work for people. He has brought professionalism in his administration, which is not liked by most people who earned money for passing the government approved benefits to people. He is most secular person and the biggest communal party in India is Congress. They want to divide and rule and all Indians in India need to have a person and able administrator like Narendra Modi. We all congratulate for his great victory. ....
Modi is Invincible
I am very happy that Modi would be the next CM of Gujarat. My decision to cancel my Christmas vacation and stay back at home to watch CNN-IBN report that Modi would be the next CM has come right. Modi is the hero of Gujarat and arguably would be the next PM of India. All the psuedoseculars should be embarrassed to hear the news Modi becoming the CM again. Thank You, Jai Hindustan!!! ....
Hope we have communal harmony in Gujarat!
In a country like India, there is no place for a government, which cannot make people from all community feel safe. I agree Modi has done lots of developmental work and kept the state more or less corruption free. But more than the development, it is important that each and every people of Gujarat feel safe and secure in his government. I still feel minorities live in a state of fear in Gujarat. For them, development is not a issue. They just hope they can somehow live without fear in their home country. Modi has brought back his real colour finally during the pre-poll speeches. I don't think he has changed as far as his ideology against minorities are concerned. I know this time also Modi will win. But I just hope he keeps continuing his good work besides making sure that minorities....
Like it or not Modi will win
I think Modi will win the election. I know people outside Gujarat do talk about his communal personality and his hate towards minority but as far as Gujaratis are concerned these things doesn't matter for them and they feel that Modi is someone who is a great administrator and a great leader who believe in work done. Second problem I think lies with media and I feel they are so obsessed with Modi and Gujarat that they completely forget about what is going on around India. I will give you one example about few days a back when I heard a news that Naxalites brutally killed more then 12 policemen, I saw those news for few hours and then media people forget about it and they feel that there is nothing new, but look at Shohrabbudin case. It is case pending in Supreme Court and we still....
Modi V/s All
If Mr. Clinton cant be judged by sex scandal than give Modi a break from riots. See what he has tried to do after 2002. All his opponents go back to 2002 only (which is still under probe) they don't talk that the way he is working is not good. ....
BJP Modi WIll Win
BJP will maintain the their majority, no need to worry. Sonia Gandhi's Congress don't had any policy for Gujarat apart from Mr Modi's 'Maut ka Saudagar' issue. They don't had any point related to development or Modi's governance
CNN-IBN's exit pole result will be come out as actual results

Gujarat the kingdom of Modi
Modi is going to create a history by winning Gujarat again.
I believe there are only two visionary leaders in INDIA.
1)Chandra Babu Naidu
2) Modi
Though Chandra babu Naidu lost recent elections because of his less concentration on poor and he still has his charishma and he is working hard to come back to power.Modi is also the same hw too didnt concentrate on the poor but he is still going to win.reason is very simple the opposition is not strong,They couldnt reach the minds of the people because of which people's minds are still occupied with 'MODITVA'.Though Modi has some negative image because of the Gujarat riots, the oppositions couldnt use the oppurtunity well
Modi is a visionary leader and he is behind the success of Gujarat. He made many companies to establish their grounds in Gujarat.
I support Modi as an Individual but not BJP.People like Modi in gujarat....
How different are Development and Communat Riots?
I have been following blogs for last couple of weeks. It became clear to me that whenever there is an article on Honourable Chief Minister Modi, communal riots in Gujarat and election campaign, almost every response to it will have contradictory reasoning to the author of the article, irrespective of Sagarika or Mr Sardesai. Here I quote some of the responses" News channel talks all together about Gujarat Riots and supposedly fake encounter, but why they don't talk about Nandigram and other incidents? Another common response it that while talking about riots, news channel must talk about state development in last two terms of Honourable Chief Minister Mr Modi. Here is my concern. Two wrongs don't make a right. The riot in the Gujarat was a shameful act. There is no reason we can justify it by comparing it with Nandigram. Just because news channels fail to....
Double Standards
Most of the Indian media , inclduing CNN - IBN have acted as the jury and judge in indicating that Modi has blood on his hands and that he is responsible for the Gujarat riots. There are media persons who call Modi the UGLY Indian. While only time and the courts will confirm this, one is surprised at the mute response to the riots under other regimes. If minority lives need more attention, as the media is more comfortable in talking of the Gujarat riots and does not mention the Godhra train burning with equal passion, why is the media silent on Nandigram? Mass graves , a la Yogaslavia have been found in more than 1 place in Nandigram and yet there is no hue and cry. I am waiting for busybodies like Teesta Setlevad to take up Nandigram. The biggest recent massacre was the....
Narendra Modi Should Win.....
If Narendra Modi does not win the Gujarat elections, it's a shame on all Indians, as he is the representative of the Indians, predominantly the Hindus. He is the true messiah of the poor rather than Sonia, who is unnecessarily being touted as a political leader even when she does not know anything about India. Congress leaders should be ashamed for not being able to find a true Indian to lead themselves. ....
Jitega Gujarat
Tomorrow's verdict of Gujarat will come and everybody will see what people want. Then I hope media and all other politicians will not shout that public live in fear and its not voice of public etc.
I hope everybody accept our decision and respect it as it's our thinking and nobody can change it at least it's not possible with people of Gujarat. So I say to all media to respect our decision of election and respect our CM.
If they can not then they can follow their agendas as they did it till today but after all Gujarat will win win and win. ....
Pogrom/Development
If someone organized killing of my brother and then paved the road in front of my house - Would I forgive him of his crime in name of development? As people, what do we hold dearer, Justice or development? This is what this election is really about. Can't justice and development go hand in hand or is it too much to expect from an Indian politician? Have we, as people, lowered our standards for a leader this much that we'll forsake murder as long as water canals are being built? Sure way of eliminating terrorism is to provide fairness & equality. Scaring a community will only increase terrorism. The generation of children who are orphaned due to this pogrom, will seek revenge in coming years. Only way to avoid that is to convict the guilty not elect them. ....
Essence of Inhumanity.
I would like to start my opinion about Gujarat polls with one very famous quotation of George Bernard Shaw, he says "The worst sin toward our fellow creatures is not to hate them, but to be indifferent to them: that's the essence of inhumanity." What we have seen during the Gujarat poll come very close to George Bernard Shaw's feeling about humanity. And this is quite disturbing to me not just because of my association with minority community but because the message of inhumanity is being echoed from the place where the symbol of humanity, the Father of our Nation Mahatma Gandhi was born and brought up. The reasons of such indifference could be many in Gujarat but the most important and obvious during the last decade is the role of politicians. The responsibilities and their accountability for the state and nation has raised many questions. ....
My Dilemma
Until the elections actually got over and I got around arguing with some friends why Narendra Modi aka "NaMo" should or should not be voted for, I actually never thought from the other side.
It goes this way. On a freezing Monday night, at Lucknow, sitting around a bonfire, I overheard some discussion about the Gujarat elections. Being known for my staunch anti-Modi comments, I naturally made myself part of the discussion. The group of 5 (plus 1-2 floaters) soon started on why or why not Modi?
Like most anti-riot supporters, my thoughts started and ended on one thought - that Modi aided the mass genocide post-Godhra and how all his positives cannot take that stain off him. The pro-Modi classmate of mine asked me one simple question: "Why did thousands of people come out and actually rallied against the Muslims? Is allowing riots to happen enough to actually make those Hindus....
whatever happens
I do believe whatever happens in polls tommorrow, nobody can write off Modi in national politics. He is the one politician who after so much of criticism has done so much good work in Gujarat. I really do believe he is the one who really deserves to become the Prime Minister of India. He has the guts and patience to take the nation to next level. Sorry to say that is something that lacks in our current Prime Minister. ....
India will the winner
If Modi wins India is loser and if Modi loses India is a winner. India is a multi-cultural society and no one can divide it. Modi had succeed in doing it but ultimately he will fail as Indians are far more mature than modi. What happened to BJP in UP is a living testimony of this. ....
Modi will win
Vitriolic speeches, personal attacks and the country's big leaders roughing it out on the campaign trail - the Gujarat Assembly election was all about personalities and on Sunday their fates will be out. ....
Who to win
As an Indian I very strongly recommend Mr Modi should be the next Chief Minister to save our nation from terrorists. ....
The Larger Question
Almost everyone know's who will win the Gujarat election. Talks are concentrated on margins. It was visible right from the beginning of the campaigns that Modi has the upper hand. I think we know the reason too. He is taking the benefit of fear in Hindus there.
But these elections and Modi's win will a larger question for us. Why in this 21st century educated people are voting on the basis of religious values or why are they forced to it this way. I think answer lies in recent events in Kolkata.
The fake secularism on part on national parties, vote bank politics for votes of Muslims is forcing other communities to centralise, and allowing people like Modi to take the advantage.
. No one is missing is the opportunity, be it Karunanidhi's anti Ram or left's support for anti-Taslima movement, they are all for sake of votes are giving....
Narendra Modi is future
Narendra Modi is the future national leader of India probably replacing LK Advani. He must develop India the way he developed Gujarat. ....
comparison between bjp and congress
Both parties are the same. For example in 2002, out of 1000 people about 250 died in police shooting and in 1984 out of 3000 people there was not single person died in police action so media and people of nation have to judge which party is more communal. ....
No way , Only Modi way
This is going to be a historic victory for Modi and definitely he will be projected as national leader in next general election. With Vajpayee sidelined, Modi-Advani duo will rule the roast of BJP national scene. Eventually other BJP governments will follow Modi model. Leftists of West Bengal may be little sad and mourning the eventual victory of Modi. Narendra Modi the Great! ....
Finally dictator wins...
Well done Modibhai for Gujurat and its development. You are second to none this way. However strong someone maybe, but he is still handicapped if one part of the body (Muslims in Gujurat) is paralysed. Can you please bring in enough development to Gujarat so that the lives of post-Godhra victims can be brought back?

This victory is nothing to do with Modi charisma or BJP support or Hindu-Muslim polarisation, this victory is a mandate by people of Gujarat for development. Time and again in different states, be it Gujarat or Delhi, it has been proved, people only vote for development. Other topics do not attract them. Whoever be the CM of whichever party can do good work people will support him. During my last visit to Gujarat after talking to common men, I realised that people are very happy by development work done by Modi like water supply, road, attracting industry, power etc. So people have also rewarded him with vote in spite of so much mud slinging. As regards Godhra riot, if after massacring Sikhs in 1984, a Sikh PM can rule the country shamelessly, then Modi has also the right to rule Gujarat. ....
What we need in Gujarat now
We need I-Cards for all one card for all.
We need 100% employment i.e. everyone should forceful work. there is no dearth of work here.
we need more training centres for different things like it is for civil works in Dahod and Godhra and everywhere.
We need CAD and English classes everywhere in every corner of Gujarat.
we need Kalpasagar within 10 years .
We need to make kutch better than Israel.
We need tourist haven like Diu etc in various places like Sukhidam, Rajpipla, everywhere.
We need solar , windmills and other cheap sources of power.
We need schools on special sciences like yoga everywhere.
We need medical tourism which would in lieu of tax benefits serve poor people with medicines.
....
Jitega Bhai Jitega Modi Bhai Jitega...
If Modi does not win today it will not only be a shame for Gujarat but I will also be ashamed to carry the surname "Patel" with my name. I will never ever step back in Gujarat. God bless Modi. Jai Hind. ....
Modi needs to win to rule Gujarat
Since youngsters need to come in politics and rule the states and the center, there is no one of the calibre of Narenderbhai Modi in Congress who will replace him. I'm not a politician or any party activist. But surely can Congress people let me know what is there in Rahul Gandhi whom they are promoting. He even cannot deliver an extempore speech while BJP has lots of them. ....
Modi a true Leader
For me these elections were not about any party but for Mr. Modi. It is simply amazing that I have not heard anyone saying negative about Mr. Modi except the Congress party.
I am sorry to say but the Congress party has just lied everything about Mr. Modi. He was actually on the roads along with the people during Surat floods. Similarly he has done extremely good work for our Kutch region. Each farmer in the Kutch region today has money at their disposal. The region has seen corporate coming to Kutch. These were all his efforts. I think we should appreciate his good work.
His coming back should have been very important to finish his unfinished agenda.
I wish him all the best. I am very happy today. ....
HINDU HRIDAY SAMRAT........
Finally decades after Indiraji, I have seen a leader with a motive.
He will not only win the Gujarat polls but will make a way ahead for the country top post, due to which Mr Advani in a age of 82 has declared himself as a PM candidate which is unacceptable.
he will escalate our country to a new level, just like he did for Gujarat. ....
Pure Self Destruction!
What's distressing is that the message these victories send to our politicians -they need to provoke hatred among people to keep themselves in power. Not that it's very difficult for them, considering their low value of accountability and ethics they generally seem to have. Is it really development that has kept Modi in power so long? All of us honestly know it is not. Modi would have never survived this long without what he did in 2002. This is self-destructive. If anyone is capable of destroying India's progress into a developed country its Modi and his ideology. He is sowing the seeds of destruction slowly. ....
IBN changed
Till yesterday, IBN was criticising Modi. Now, in a few days, IBN will start favouring Modi. This is business and IBN is doing what other media companies are doing. ....
India can do well with more leaders like Modi
Recent Indian political history has only seen a decline in strong and honest leaders. Mr.Modi is one of the last remaining few. People might call him an authoritarian, but the need of the moment is just that.
He has not only turned Gujarath into a model state with terrific development but also given the people a corruption free Govt. He has also single handedly defeated all his political detractors- dissidents, the dynastic Congress and also the so called secular media.
Kudos to Mr.Modi and also to all the Indians who believe in the development of the Nation.
Would wish that he would soon become the PM of India and that'll put India back as a strong and an Honest Nation in the international arena lead by a Strong and an Honest leader.
Jai hind ....
East or west BJP is the best
BJP is that party with a beauty which enhances Gujarat's personality with development in all aspects.
Yesterday is already a dream ,tomorrow is only a vision ,but today BJP in Gujarat makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope. ....
Modi
The Gujarat election has defied predictions of all Modi bashers. A clear message to all non BJP parties/opponents that playing ad nauseam on communal riots/doubtless a slur/ is counter productive when the opponents own record are not that clean. Rewarding floor crossers through tickets for narrow political gains was ill advised as it will only increase the Narayan Rane types. An ex Shiv Sena now in Congress. Political parties should deal with dissentions firmly. The electoral appeals should be to talk on development and economic upliftment of all sections of the society instead of assuring communally divisive policies for vote bank criteria. Modi has won clearly on all these counts
Al Gore opposed bitterly George W Bush in US election on policy and once the result was announced ended all political oppositions. Our politicians should also grow to such electoral maturities to avoid any post election bitterness and work together....
Modi-fied Gujarat
It was undoubtedly the most talked about election of the year after the UP polls. It is truly unfair to say that Modi used the communal plank alone to win in Gujarat. In 2002 his speeches were resplendent with Mian Musharaf and the foreign origin issue of Sonia Gandhi. But this time he put them on the backburner and pushed forward the agenda of his reforms and developmental activities in Gujarat. In fact, Modi's victory is reassuring in some ways. Sure, this election too saw stray remarks on Sohrabuddin and Mian Musharaf. But at the end of the day, it is the Beti Bachao Aandolan, Jyotigram Power scheme, proper water supply (in spite of droughts), reformation of the babus and bureaucrats by bringing in accountability-based governance and the positive air for business that led him to victory. He didn't hesitate from slapping cases on those who indulged in power theft....
Lead Persona
The Gujarat results should not be exhibited as Fascist win. It clearly exhibits the common man's desire to live in peace. The parties did campaign on equal keel and the deciding factor was leadership. It is now beyond doubt that the trend will be for Indianans and not Hindutva alone, should we say that we Indians must articulate now to certain ideologies, which can benefit India in the coming future. It proves beyond doubt about the dedication and perseverance of the LEAD PERSONALITIES (of any party) and a 360 Degree understanding of the national sensibility perspectives. Gujarat can be replacing the UP model and can act as a future indicator of national trends. I must say Mr. Narendra Modi, CM (common Man) and BJP proves this point beyond doubt. ....
Nationlaism over Secularism
It is time for Indian politicians to learn from Modi and Gujarat. They have to have conviction in True Nationalism. The key words or tag line is no longer Secular & Social Justice it is no longer appeasement of religions and castes and staying in power and amassing personal wealth through "opportunistic" combinations. It is about Nationalism that is genuine equality, development, ruthless crusade against corruption and above all a brand that stands for something of value. Gujarat has made a start and this is an inflection point in the history of Indian politics. The secular card has been stretched beyond its elasticity that it has crossed the threshold of any further returns , going forward the what will differentiate the winners from the losers is not their views on religions , reservations and degree of sycophancy , it is all going to be about the ability communicate their genuineness....
Victory of Nationalism and Devlopment
The victory of Narendra Modi is very significant. Even more significant is the fact that he got 2/3rd majority in spite of the entire so called anti-incumbency factor. i think following are the main reasons for this grand victory:
1)Performance- This is the most important factor as whether one accepts or not Gujarat has seen tremendous development in the last 5 yrs. This statement is supported by Govt. of India's figure itself
2) Negative Campaign- Gujarat is India's most industrialized state and a negative campaign by the congress let them down. Congress leaders repeatedly stressed that there has been no development in Gujarat which just proved counter productive to them. No other state today has seen the kind of development as Gujarat has in the last 5 yrs.
3) Nationalism- Needless the record of congress in this aspect is very weak and challenging the BJP and more so Modi on this issue proved....
Modi Has done it Again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Being a person from far north-east, it has been a very interesting elections to watch as we are never able to see the kind of publicity, drama and commotion in our parts. For an avid watcher of Indian politics it had everything that a masala Hindi movie has. The drama, action, love and suspense as to what will be the exact numbers.
At the end of the day the hero has triumphed over his adversaries even if they were so much large in numbers. The Gujarat elections will be a major eye-opener for many, what will happen to the Keshubhai Patels. With their stature in mind the BJP high command will be in a fix as Modi will now start firing with all guns blazing and the high command cannot neglect Modi's overtures. The Congress has to do a serious re-think into their brand of politics as it has been....
Future Leaders : Modi Ishtyle
In spite of being a hate figure Modi has crushed
1) Congress
2) Rebels
3) Anti imcumbency
4) Media
The reason for this is
1) integrity
2) incorruptible nature
3) bold and hard decision making
4) dream big and having vision
Main feature to be considered: Whatever happens in Gujarat will happen all across country shortly. Gujarat is most developed, most intelligent state. This might be because of more money or whatever. But the crowd over there is highly educated. This is change in thinking of people happening at a macro level.
The main features to be noted at macro level
1) People no more fools to believe in dynastic rule. Sachin is a great opening batsman. So do we give his son the opening slot when he grows older?
2) Just compare the way Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi speak and compare it with Narender Modi. Or for that matter any second rung BJP leader. Put both the speeches....
LESSONS FROM THE GUJRAT ELECTIONS
Modi's landslide victory has more implications for the Congress, the ruling UPA and the media than any previous elections in independent India. The Congress creates an image about its opposition party, convinces the media in propagating their agenda, and believed that this will garner votes for them. BJP is a communal party because of Babri demolition, post-Godhra riots, but Congress or its UPA allies have secular credentials even after the anti-Sikh riots, Bhagalpur riots and many more communal flare-ups even before BJP came into existence. The BJP as a communal party has been conceived by the Congress/UPA allies and propagated by the media to suit the ruling alliance at the centre.
Long before the campaigning began, the news, the panel discussions, the selective editing and reporting of Modi's speeches on most national channels, it seemed that the channels have taken the responsibility of painting Modi communal, upon themselves. The only....
Congratulations to Narendra Modi
Being a Gujarati, I know what kind of environment my state has and I think all Gujaratis know about it then why National Media, Congress, Rebels and other NGOs and people like Teesta Setalwad keep saying that Narendra Modi is instilling fear in people and Gujarati People live in fear constantly which is totally wrong. They want us to accept the situation which doesn't exist. I think people's mandate must be respected and all the above mentioned should do some introspection and stop bashing Narendra Modi as now he is an democratically elected CM 3rd time in a row and Gujaratis are not stupid people who can give such a clear mandate 3 times to a so called dictator. Isn't it true?
....
Why Modi is better then Congress
Reason for Modi's victory is - he is one incorruptible, absolutely unheard in current politics where Laloo has 50 cases against him. He is single and has not promoted his kin, there are stories to support this that his kin remained a lower middle class. The country was divided vertically in 1947 and then horizontally by Mandalization. Criminals have joined politics in the name of secularism. A person who cannot talk a word without help has become supreme leader of Congress party just because of dynastic connections not on merit and pursuing the same vote bank politics they are doing it for last 60 years. That's very hopeless situation and new generation want new Hero, who has done it. He has given people what they need the most i.e. development and progress, better life for their children, equal opportunities to all and not privileges based on religion, caste or region.....
BJP AT CROSS ROADS
Firstly, congratulations to BJP rather should I say to Modi. Well Congress lost the battle much before the elections. They were banking mostly on the BJP rebels and Patels (whom always been loyal to BJP).
There will be lot of soul searching in congress camp.
BJP now finds itself in very tricky situation. Certainly there will be difference of opinions (ideologies ) in the coming months in BJP. One thing for sure you cannot apply same formula (Moditva) to all the states. Next general elections will decide the future of Indian electoral politics and the role the parties.
Well coming back to this elections ,it was Modi package that worked .It had all the ingredients to galvanize masses and eventually transforming them to votes. For congress its moral defeat as Sonia herself had taken on Modi and just managed 50 odd seats. Congress itself has given Modi his favourite weapon (Hindutva)....
Who is not communal?
The Congress projects itself as a very big secular party. BJP is labelled as being Communal. Was the anti-Sikh's riot a secular thing? Who was responsible then? Congress or BJP?
Dividing the society based on caste and creed is also communal. This is what Congress loves to do, has done and will be doing forever (Vote bank politics). Is this being secular?
Everyone is communal in some sense, and everyone is secular. Birds with same feathers are flocked together in Indian politics.
The reason why Modi won. I say Modi not BJP, reasons pretty obvious. Modi isn't communal. He is working for Common man day-in and day-out. He doesn't hate Muslims, he is against terrorist elements. It's bit sad that maximum of those come from one section of community. Modi development plans are inclusive.
Congress on the other hand is the biggest communal party in India. Just need to give a bit....
Three strong messages
There are three strong messages emerging out of this landslide victory of Narendra Modi. The first two are encouraging. The third one scary.
1.Good governance can be good politics.
2.The political agenda of development can override caste based politics. The defeat of Keshubhai representing the strong Patel lobby bears testimony to this.
3.Aspirations for development and complete disrespect for human rights, the core principle of democracy can be successfully woven together. For the first time the country has elected a chief minister who proudly supports fake encounter. After all Hitler also came to power through democratic process. The inherent weakness of the democracy is that it can defeat itself.Behind Modi's victory is lurking face of fascism. While we accept and appreciate the first two messages we cant afford to ignore the third. ....
Focus on why you lost rather then why BJP won
I am currently watching CNN-IBN and IBN7 channels and listening to the Congress leader on both the channels. I can see that they are focusing more on why BJP/Modi won the election rather than why they lost. Again, saying that Modi is dividing the public after losing the election is second insult of the public verdict and public of Gujarat. I guess when the election process started, both Congress and BJP were equals but again the poor knowledge of Sonia Gandhi has given a topic to BJP that brought this results today. But I strongly believe that the main topic of this election was/is development. And also I am happy that people of Gujarat have grown above the caste-based politics and voted for the development and party-based politics. (Thumbs down to Keshubhai/caste based politics). Also, I wanted to ask the Congress and media that when....
Sad Day for India ..no where close to achieving Kalam's vision
It is really heartbreaking and appalling to see how the people of Gujarat support perpetrators of crime and communalism. It is indeed a sad day for any forward looking Indian Citizen who believes in harmony, peace and mutual co-existence of people from all communities, caste and creed, and if I look back at the carnage that happened in 2002 in Gujarat, is actually not different from what the terrorists do the world over, not different at all from the atrocities committed on Dalits and Harijans from time to time. The only way to steer clear from dirty minded politicians is to help increase literacy, education, employment, arrest population growth. While all of these efforts should have been a reality now, and the irony is that it still isn\'t, is an ample testimony that KALAM'S DREAM FOR INDIA BY 2020 IS FAR FETCHED. ....
Gujarat elections
This is victory for Narendra bhai in Gujarat, it is victory of his untiring exemplary efforts that he has made for development of the state, if Gujaratis are happy with the efforts of their CM, and then they have appropriately not let him down on election day. His report card is clearly, pass with flying colours. But nothing in it for BJP to project this victory as rolling bandwagon that will be replicated elsewhere, if it moves away from its core ideology, that's for all to see. Modi has given another equation Hindutva = development + good governance + nationalism.
Congress must learn its lesson fast 67% of India is young India it is not orthodox , can see difference between propaganda and reality .if Hindus could leave deep scars of partition, thousand years of unmatched butchery against their religion , why then cant our "secularists" and their friends in high....
Lets Face the Facts, This is what Indians want
Lets Face the facts, this is what most of the Indians wanted, in their heart of hearts. They wanted a Modi victory, the reason good internal security.
What i mean is that since the Godhra riots, there has not been a single bomb blast or terrorist activity in the state of Gujarat and hats off to his governance for that.
This has provided the entrepreneurs the freedom to pursue their vision in Gujarat, which cannot be said about other cities/states.
The congress has to decide that appeasing or going slow on terrorists wont work in modern India. You have to be strict when it comes to dealing with terrorists irrespective of their religion and caste/creed, KPS Gill is a hero for what he did in Punjab and Modi has been re-elected cause he has made sure that there are no mindless bomb blasts or other terrorist activities in his state. That is the....
A perfect win
In spite of all criticisms and attacks Narendra Modi proved his mettle once again in Gujarat. This is the fourth consecutive win for BJP in the state.
Now the question arises what went wrong with the Congress? No doubt, the Congress worked very hard to snatch Gujarat from Modi this time. Sonia Gandhi didn't miss a single occasion to criticize Modi. But all the efforts went in vain.
Congress did the same mistake what BJP did during the last Lok Sabha election. BJP came our with India Shining campaign which did not interest our people because it was based on illusions. Congress was found sticking only to the communal issues in Gujarat. It didn't try to raise developmental issue at all.
Now the time has changed. People want development. But Congress failed to attack Modi government on the basis of any developmental issues. As far communal issues are concerned, Congress must have....
Shameful Victory!!!
The victory of Narendra Modi comes as no surprise and can best be described as shameful. Shameful because it is a victory on the dead bodies of innocent people. Shameful because a leader who talks of development could not rely on it to first come to power and then to hold on to power. A great leader is one who takes everyone along in an environment of trust, peace and justice and certainly not in an environment of polarization. This brand of politics of communal polarization can get you short term results but cannot hold for the long term and this has been proven in the past and will be proved again in future. Also for the BJP, Narendra Modi will prove to be like a Frankenstein who will spin out of control and this will be a tough challenge for the BJP to grapple with. Great leaders are people....
Stop targetting Modi...you cannot take away credit from him
Lots of allegations & speculations already made against Modi, can we come out that mode and stop repeatedly targetting Modi. "Moditva" as you in media have tagged is nothing else but "Hindutva" which every Indian should be following. Pride for nation and your land. Lot has been said about reasons for Modi's winning. Congress should introspect things being done under their rule in different parts of India before raising allegations on Modi. Congress should rather think about their party rather than talking everywhere about the so called "fear" in central BJP due to Modi's rise. If anybody is worried and feared then it is Congress.
Common man in Gujarat does not relate with anything except safety which can be attained only if there is balance and security in the society. I having experienced Congress as well as BJP rules and know what fear psychosis is. Twenty odd years back under Congress....
Let the people’s aspirations win over ghosts
Gujarat election saw Indian democracy conquering two ghosts; the ghost of Godhra and the ghost of Chandrababu Naidu.
Firstly, denying every divisive politics the brave Gujaratis united to decide their own destiny. They have shown the world that they are brave enough to forget the dark days of Godhra. It is certainly a thing of the past. Gujaratis are pragmatic enough to accommodate differences, in their lives, in their culture and in their aspirations. This election showed disparities of aspirations blurring between rural-urban, between rich-poor. Let's hope that it has happened between religions too. Now that the Gujaratis have shown faith in Modi (and BJP) he must reciprocate to the whole of Gujarat. Let's hope no one dares to commercialize the ghost of Godhra.
Secondly, it would certainly bring some faith on development as a winnable election agenda. Ghosts of fall of development brands like Chandrababu Naidu and failure of 'India....
