Ring out the old, ring in the new
Bombay's rise from the ashes, they're calling it... The Taj and the Trident re-opening after a horrific ordeal no one's going to forget. People will go in, amidst hyper-security, because they can. They will go in, they will go on. I went to Bombay just a week after the siege ... To be there somehow, for that breath-taking city. Because I could... that was my fist in the wind. A city that was limping back to normal, the pundits declared. The security at Delhi airport made me more than a little jittery (Delhi and Bangalore airports were on high alert, at this point, of course) and I almost regretted my decision, staring at the tarmac. As I landed at Chhatrapati Shivaji Airport, my friend told me they'd found guns in someone's car, during the checking taking place at the parking lot. Said checking being done by regular parking lot....
