Book Club: Author Mohsin Hamid shares snippets
SNIPPETS SNIPPETS SNIPPETS News of the new Haruki Murakami book 1Q84 that's hit stores in Japan this past weekend, and sold out already! It's 2 volumes, and 1,055 pages in total. Now to wait for the English translation! Is this all the way at the other end of the literary spectrum or what?! Former US VP Dick Cheney is looking to score a multi-million dollar book contract... a book on the Bush years is in the offing. I've finally got into Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series, just one book down but dying to start New Moon (is Edward Cullen the most fabulous vampire of all time or what?!) And publishers Hachette say she's "single-handedly propping up a recessionary market in the West". With good reason too! (BTW the publishing house is tapping into that, organising "Twilight saga/ vampire-themed cocktails"... Weekly vampire nights in Delhi, Kolkata,....
