The Delhi Metro Is Slipping
I am a Metro enthusiast. So I did not need persuasion when Line 4 went into service. I had decided to make the Metro a habit to office. Travel would not be as easy as swiping a pre-paid fare card. Hopping into a car and driving away was far more comfortable. But I was daunted by the thought of negotiating knots of traffic along the way. Despite flyovers and widened roads, one ran into these thickets more often than before. Keeping one's cool behind the wheels was getting increasingly difficult. People driving over white lines, slow moving vehicles in fast lanes, drivers not queuing up while awaiting their turn to turn, the gridlocks that occurred so readily when traffic light went on the blink, people not hesitating to drive in the wrong lane rather than wait for a jam to clear - the aggression on roads was aggravating.
