In the recent US Presidential elections the change has come to America. BUT a bigger change has come to Delhi roads too. Not in terms of politics or the conditions of the roads but the change is in the behavior of the motorists on Traffic signals.
Earlier, no body is patient about stopping on a RED signal for mere 10 seconds, even there are timers to show the time remaining..... Usually car and other traffic stops on STOP line, but as another vehicle stops a foot or two ahead of the previously stopped vehicle that driver too move his vehicle about a foot or so to maintain that level. This is the scene of all the vehicles. By the time signal goes green the Vehicles come forward crossing stop line up till 20-30 mts and almost in the mid of the crossing. The density of vehicles at that time is very high as vehicle standing behind is almost touching the Vehicles standing in their front.
It was seen on almost every traffic signal. Of course I was also among those impatient drivers whether on a car or on a two wheeler.
Recently I notice the scene at traffic signal, it was all changed. I got shocked 'what happened suddenly that makes the drivers so patient'? Every body is standing so patiently with the minimum gap of 2-3 feet between vehicles. No body is moving his vehicle slowly before green signal. The change is not sudden the all credit goes to CNG gas. In Delhi where drivers don't have patience of mere 3 seconds to stop on RED signal they are waiting for their turn on a CNG outlet for about half an hour or sometimes more than that patiently. The rising demand of CNG and less supply is the very big reason behind the driver's patience. They have learnt how to be in Q and wait for your turn. The Aggressiveness is changing to calmness. I noticed this change in myself too. There are drivers on road which are still aggressive and impatient I tried to find out the reason and found that in most of the vehicles having impatient drivers are not installed with CNG KITs.
CNG is not only reducing pollution levels but also helpful in generating and improving patience and tolerance power in drivers. There are lot of uses of CNG was known but this power of CNG is HIDDEN. I request to the readers please keep an eye on this matter and try to analyse that up to which level my analysis is right.

Really don't know which Delhi you are referring to in your post...cos the Delhi I know has always been impatient to the hilt, at least on the roads. Ppl just can't tolerate anybody overtaking them and it is virtually a race on Delhi roads...
ReplyStanding in queue on a CNG station is a 'majboori' and that can't be termed as being patient and calm
There is no respect for traffic laws on Delhi roads...bikers and scooterists venturing out without helmets, car drivers not using seat-belts, using mobile phones for talking as well as texting and all of this while driving! It is actually a nightmare and we should thank God every night before going off to sleep that we have been able to survive another day in this mad mad traffic.
God bless all! ...
Delhi has show a change with better public transport (CNG Buses,Metro),lesser pollution and increase in the green patch.
ReplyBut this has just fulfilled 25 % of the defination...
