Lawyers love to talk. Both inside and out of courts. And while their conversations within the courtrooms could possibly drill sizeable holes into people's pockets, it's their casual conversations outside that often make for interesting anecdotes later. An easy afternoon at the Supreme Court did just that for me. "Judges should be like Caesar's wife," said a senior lawyer to me, while discussing corruption in the judiciary. I wondered, really and just why? The lawyer was clear. The trigger for his comparison and the very famous advice to all judges was coming from Caesar's life some 2000 years ago. And it fit best here.... So, Pompeia came to rescue. Pompeia, wife of illustrious Caesar, is perhaps the most remembered ghost in the aisles of judiciary.
