Do we really need Telangana?

29IBNLive IBNLive Google Buzz

Being a supporter of a separate state, she used to tell me about Telengana lollulu (riots) in 1969, but this time she could not give me an answer to my question. However, she did observe that, "since elections are over, a few politicians do not have any work till the next elections and have started this demand for their personal gain". I can understand her frustration. Whenever I have asked myself the same question, my memories go back to my childhood days. My Telangana Telugu and accent was teased every time. There are many films that teased the Telangana accent and culture through characters. Thanks to films, a few newspapers and a lack of political leadership in the region, there was a....

The Jinx Any Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh taking his oath outside the Raj Bhavan has never completed its tenure. The History N.T. Ramarao (NTR), Marri Chennareddy and N. Janardhan Reddy stand testimony to the above-mentioned Jinx. N.T. Ramarao In 1983 after a thumping victory NTR took oath in front of a huge public gathering at Lal Bahadur Stadium, as the 10th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. Due to his ill health NTR had to go to United States of America (USA) for his open-heart surgery. During of his absence, his Finance Minister Nadendla Bhaskar Rao claimed the majority could not prove it. After returning back from USA, even after having the majority and serving as the Chief Minister for 585 days, NTR dissolved his cabinet and called for fresh elections. Reel Hero to Real Hero - Chiranjeevi

9IBNLive IBNLive Google Buzz

Does history always repeat itself? After 25 years, once again one reel hero wants to become a real hero. South India's famous film star Chiranjeevi wants to repeat ex-Chief Minister and greatest Andhraite Late NT Ramarao's (NTR) success. But political and social environment of Andhra Pradesh are completely different this time comparing with 25 years ago. Films to Politics NTR had proved that it is possible for a film star to successfully venture in to politics. Congress had continuously ruled Andhra Pradesh a state formed on November 1, 1956, till 1982. NTR's, Telugu Desham Party (TDP) overthrew the incumbent Congrees and came to power in 1983, within nine months of its formation. An achievment for any regional partry. It will not be easy for Chiranjeevi to emulate NTR's success as the people then had only two parties to choose from compared to the present scenario....

Lalit Modi, the entertainer of the year

12IBNLive IBNLive Google Buzz

Do you know who the best entertainer of the year is so far? No, it's not Shah Rukh Khan, and not Rakhi Sawant. He is the most unlikely, DLF Indian Premium League Commissioner Mr Lalit Modi. What an entertainment he has provided to the people through the Indian Premium League! Action, drama, comedy, emotion, music, dance, climax, everything. Absolutely superb. Entertainment came on the field as well as off it. The first round of matches over, the IPL has now entered the second round. Many controversies have happened in the first round. Cheer girls provided entertainment in the stadium, pulling in crowd. And at the same time, the banner at Jazz By The Bay (near Churchgate station) asked for "Cheer girls in Parliament to improve attendance." Sreesanth was seen crying bitterly on the ground because of Harbhajan's slap. The whole world saw that episode as it....
