No Madhya Marg here
Madhya Pradesh is projected as the heart of India. It a state that sees a direct fight between the Congress and BJP. However, the last years have also seen the emergence of Mayawati's BSP as a political force in some pockets of the state. Along with former BJP leader Uma Baharti, BSP is expected to make a dent in the votebanks of both the major national parties and can even emerge as the kingmaker in the event of a hung Assembly.
The BJP, which has been in power for 10 years in the state, is facing strong anti-incumbency but the Congress is not able to take full advantage of it due to infighting.
Sonia Gandhi and Rahul have not proved to a big success in most of the states that went to polls in the recent months and cannot be expected to propel the Congress back into power in Bhopal.
The last couple of months have seen the BJP going back to Hindutva and with the arrest of Sadhvi Pragya in the Malegaon blast case, the voters may be polerised in some areas of the state.
This can be a big advantage for the party as its Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has little to show on the development front.
