Sorry KJo, colleges are not what you show
It was some two years back when I, all set to get admitted to a Delhi University college, left my town in Bihar. That one-night journey was what to fashion the life that I lead today. I started my journey with huge expectations from my college as it is with every small town guy. College was something which always referred to exciting places, hanging out with friends and all time fun. It was not a perception of my own but an image lifted from movies like 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', 'Main Hoon Na' 'New York', 'K3G' and 'Wake Up Sid!'. I expected a college where I could find a friend like Kajol or someone like Kareena to keep company. Or a friend like Namit or Shikha (Rishi and Laxmi from Wake up Sid!). Lying down on my berth on that night, I was happy that my dreams were....
I smoke for free but it does cost me
Sometimes I feel whether it is worth to proclaim that I'm not a smoker. Be around my friends and you may face the same dilemma. Although I don't smoke but I do inhale smoke every day and that too no less than any chain smoker. In a circle like mine, where nine out of every ten people smoke, you become an involuntarily smoker. Dilemma I face, and I do believe many of the non smokers face, is either be with them while they smoke or stay back alone, as we'll always belong to the minority group. In a city like Delhi, it's difficult to find a good friend, at least it was difficult for me. My room mate may be one of the best companions to me in my struggling days, but his smoking habit leaves me irritated every day. While discussing the problem....
