Has anyone ever asked you what do you want to be when you grow up? Don't say no, because that would be a lie. Well, even I have been answering that question since I was 3, no 4. First I wanted to be a scientist, and then just marry Amitabh Bachchan. My mom talked me out of it and promised that she would fix me up with his son. That died too. Never mind. But, when I was 16, I developed another passion... Travelling. That was when I decided that I would live to travel. The perfect job would be that pays me to travel! Then, I grew up (according to people)... and did not become a scientist, didn't marry Junior B, not an advertiser but became a journalist. Something I had never....

I've Seen Paradise...

All of us have our own description of Paradise. Well... for me, it would be more like a place where heaven meets the earth, sun rises and sets in the deep blue sea, waves make the only cackle that can be heard and the mind is absolutely hassle free. Well... it was this desire to get up close and personal with Mother Earth that diverted my route to a paradise called - Gokarna. 'Go' means cow and 'karna' means ears. It is said that Lord Shiva emerged out of a cow's ear here, cow representing, of course, Mother Earth. Another theory behind the name is that it is located at an ear shaped confluence of two rivers Gangavali and Aghanashini. It is around 750 kms from Mumbai and 154 kms from Goa. Getting there is no task.....

Papa kehte hain bada naam karega... or karegi for that matter. But how? Minds are clouded and the idea of following the heart jeopardizes the present. Such was my case when I started out. Rest assured there are many who share the same feeling. Isn't it? Its that time of the year. Its time to fill some forms or meet some well suited booted people. But, who wants to do that? We all want to be either a film stars or a cricketer or just win a jackpot and live happily ever after. Its only when we wake up we realize that none of the above is ever going to happen and chasing it means being kicked out of the door or even no subs for a long long time. Everything boils down to 'sabse bada rupaya...' So how do you get a reality check? How do you....

With the Independence Day just around the corner, we had to come up with some stories... inspirational stories. I happen to suggest one such story, a story of a woman who claims that she fought for the free air that our country breathes today. All hear say... but worth investigating. I was assigned the job. Pleasure was all mine. After all, it was going to be pleasant weekend in a hill station on Maharashtra-Gujarat border, called Saputara. It was also because of various romantic stories about patriotism that we've all been bred upon. The drive between hills and waterfalls was only making it worth it. There were several questions on my mind... what would she be like? Would she be wearing khadi? What kind of a freedom fighter was she? Would she have seen my favorite hero, Subhash Chandra Bose, for real or met Bhagat Singh? I had spoken....

First draft of the first blog, but there is so much to say, so much to tell. Have to begin somewhere. Have you ever had that one moment in life where something in you changes forever? I think the serial blasts in Mumbai did exactly that to me. Don't know what changed, don't know what exactly about the blasts caused the change, but there was something... Being a features reporter, just like any other day, I was on my way for a red carpet event in a 5 star hotel in Juhu. Oblivious to the fact that a tragedy had occurred right around the corner, our team was enjoying the music on the radio. Just then a call from office changed the entire scenario. We were to head towards Matunga station where a bomb blast had just occurred. We loaded our camera and collected all the extra tapes that....
