MODI'S HISTORIC WIN
That Modi has convincingly won the Gujarat Elections is a slap in the face of the Congress Party and all the media channels who have systematically criticised Modi and accused him of all the wrongdoings. That the media today is a purchasable commodity is clear from the moment you see the planted speakers and selective comments aired.
That Modi won despite Sonia Gandhi branding him as a 'Maut Ka Saudagar', despite dissidence within the BJP and despite the Congress's all out efforts to defeat him, speaks volumes about his personality and charisma.
In the last general elections, the Congress got only 9 seats more than the BJP, yet they crowed from rooftops that they had been given the mandate to rule this country. How they joined hands with the communists, who never saw eye to eye with them, and never will, and other sundry parties only for the sake of power is very apparent.
Thereafter, the likes of Jayanti Natarajan, A M Singvi and Kapil Sibal were their arrogant best on TV Channels declaring that the BJP were bad losers and had no grace.
What we saw on television channels today was most appalling. The Gujarati slap in the face rattled the congress leaders so much that they could not muster up up the courage to let alone congratulate Modi on his historic win, they could not say even say anything intelligible.
While Jayanti Natarajan, left the studio in a huff, A M Singhvi called Modi a 'Dictator'. Is this how you address a democratically-elected leader in the largest democracy in the world? Veerappa Moily tried to drive a wedge between Modi and Advani.
The Congress kept harping on their perceived differences between Vajpayee and Advani earlier without any success. And not having learnt any lessons from this, they are now trying to create differences between Modi and Advani, and Modi and BJP. A success is a success and a victory is a victory.
Every congress spokesperson openly insulted the electorate of Gujarat, by saying that Moditva will not work in the rest of the country. It will not cross the borders of Gujarat. Are they trying to say that Gujaratis are different from the rest of the Indians?
Do they consider the Gujaratis to be stupid and without brains to elect Modi and all that he stands for?
The reality is that the electorate of Gujarat has not fallen for the lies perpetrated by the Congress, which has in the last 60 years followed the policy of divide and rule. They have tried to appease the minorities at the expense of the 85% Hindus of this country. Instead of amalgamating every citizen irrespective of the caste or religion, it serves their purpose to keep them as separate entities and use them as vote banks.
Just like the Pakistan Army will never allow the Kashmir issue to be settled, as it will make their own existence redundant, the Congress party will never allow the minorities to join in the mainstream, as they will then have no platform of so called 'secularism' left to talk and crow about.
It is disgusting to see our politicians appeal to particular castes and religions for votes in return for special favours. When will they realise that they are doing incalculable harm to this country for which they will never be forgiven. When our Constitution guarantees us equality, then why are the politicians trying to make some people more equal than others?
The Congress should learn to take defeat gracefully. They should see the writing on the wall and accept the fact that there are other well-meaning Indians also who are not only secular but also very patriotic to their country. They should stop the sycophancy and stop harping on the fact that there is only one patriotic family in this country who has been ordained by the God Almighty to rule this country for ever.
