'W' for Wendetta: Do these studies hate women?

3IBNLive IBNLive

- Women more stressed than men

- It's official. Women drivers more accident prone

- Women more likely to stray in relationships

These are actual headlines.

Over the last few months - our studies reveal - (all puns intended) - that there exists these battery of 'studies' that say things like the above mentioned lot. Whether they are true or not is secondary - but my question is -

WHO funds these studies?

And HOW much do they hate women?

Ok, perhaps 'hate' is too strong a word - pray tell us dear researchers, WHAT exactly is the bone of contention? It seems that half these social-medical tests are waiting in the lab to unearth these vague, unfathomable female mysteries and guess what they came up with -

- Women talk to dogs more than their partner

- Women gossip for one-third of waking life

- Women more abusive to in-laws: Report

Sigh!

It appears - as 'studies' claim - women are these self-centered, overtly sensitive, bunch who would rather worry about make up than their health (another study says so). More calculative than the men, more career oriented at times, ruthless and even thoughtless and wait...shallow.

I can almost imagine the men thumping the beer glasses with - "Hear! Hear!"

Am not a feminist - but what's with these studies?

Leaving all space for doubts - the surveys almost always involve this thin slice of women from the world over - and there they go declaring some thing like -

- 1 in 3 women don't leave home without make up

- Women suffer more stress from daily travel

And call it a study or a report. Absurd!

True - any smart woman will accept that biologically and psychologically the sexes are poles apart and thus what they do, how they do it is meant to be greatly antithetical. But in today's day and age, it is grossly unfair to say -

- Women soldiers mentally resilient as men: study

- Men savvier networkers than women, study says

Really now? Are we talking about one stray office in the US or are we debating about whether women soldiers will hesitate to pull the trigger or not in the face of danger? When duties are equal, when expectations are the same - perhaps a little less or more somewhere - do you really need a study to tell you who might perform better or would you just trust the results?

Am not taking sides - take your pick. Am not saying that women don't have the issues that these 'studies' claim. All I am saying is - SOME women have them. Not all. Don't generalise dear researchers.

Or there will come a day when we will talk only to our dogs.

Consider yourself warned.
