Fighting the first week!

3IBNLive IBNLive

Hello people!

I'm going to be a sulk baby in today's blog. It's my first week of exercise and diet and it's been a tough week. So bear with me..

I started kickboxing this week. Good lord!!

All those people who said this weight loss adventure is such a cool thing...listen up!! This ain't easy...

I just had a breakfast of oats and "ahhh!!!" is all I can say. I repeat, this ain't easy! I mean...where's my spongy omelet? And the buttered toast? Or the aaloo parantha? This oats thing looks like vomit! And I'm supposed to start my day with this? Not fair!!

Not just that, on my very first kick boxing class I'm put against this big burly guy who has obviously been kicking butt for the longest time. It's like you're learning how to swim and you're suddenly thrown in the deep end! The crunches and the push ups are killing me. I'd never tried pushups in my life and now Edgar's making me do like 20 in one go! It is plain cruel!

Yeah...there were some high points in the class. Like when I got to wear the boxing gloves for the first time! Oooh baby!! I just loved them. Did anyone say Lara croft? Ahem ahem!! But I still have a long way to go till I actually start using them to defend myself. Attack will come later...much later.

At home as well, it's been so crazy. I've realized, all this junk food is addictive not only because it tastes so good, but also because it's so easy to get. I mean, when hunger strikes at 4 in the afternoon who thinks of what's healthy? You just reach out for that packet of chips...don't you? But I can't!! I'm supposed to have fresh fruits and sprouts...Which means I have to frequent the mandi and not the malls, and shop for broccoli, carrots and papayas. Anyone willing to switch places?

The whole week has been a struggle. Struggle to get out of bed at 5 am, struggle to pedal a stretch of 2 kilometers, and a struggle to ebb the cravings. Every night I've been dreaming of those melt in the mouth chocolates, my sister sent from the US, and I thank heavens that my nutritionist made me throw them away...because if I knew that they were right there, chilling in the chill tray of my refrigerator, smiling, enticing, alluring...I strongly suspect my will power would not be able to stand the test. I wish there was a chocolate patch, you know...like the nicotine ones they have for smokers.

But Edgar says...it is the first week...and it is going to be the toughest. If I can survive this...I'll survive the whole drill. And so, as this week comes to an end...I'm just rejoicing that...1 week over!! And trying not to think of the may many weeks to come! "One day at a time...sweet Jesus...that's all I'm asking of you"

Another thing that's kept me going this week is the motivation that I got from people around...my friends at work, my family (love you guys!) and the many many comments that I received on my blog! Thank you so much!! I'll really need all the support...I will. Lots of people said they're going to start their own fitness adventure. Bravo!! Lets all do this together. Send me your photographs...write about your struggles and progress. I'm maintaining a video diary, perhaps you can do that too. And send them to me and we'll put it on the show.

All of you watching the show right? It's on Saturday's 12:30 and 6:30 pm and Sunday's 2:30 pm.

So lets start the fight to fitness shall we?

Untill next time,

Ciao

:) Megha
