iNQ Chat 3G is socially relevant!
On Tuesday, I received a phone in my office that came for Satyashree Gandham, our senior producer in Mumbai. Satya told me to hold on to it for her and that I can play with it. Oh well, if you insist!
So after two days of using the iNQ chat 3G, here is what I think about it. But before you read any further I must tell you that this phone is launched in partnership with Aircel -- so if you have no plans to change your phone operator don't read on.
Firstly, this phone looks a lot like the BlackBerry Curve but it is not as expensive as a BlackBerry. It has 3G, a QWERTY keypad, push e-mail, integration of Facebook and Twitter - all this for only Rs 7,500!

The handset is thin but not flimsy and the QWERTY keys are easy to use. I love the big screen which makes the use of Twitter and Facebook convenient. The phone has interchangeable back covers, mine came with my favourite pink. It has a micro USB socket for charging but no 3.5 mm headphone jack. Music can be copy-pasted or downloaded through Double twist- an iTunes-like service. Strangely, there is no FM in this phone.
INQ Chat 3G has a 3.2-megapixel camera but no flash and that is why it works poorly when there is no light. Now coming to my favourite feature -- all the applications that you are likely to use are neatly arranged on the bottom of the screen. You also have the option of running widgets on the desktop for live updates from Facebook, Twitter or even using Google's Search bar. Even by going to messages you can access your inbox and direct messages from Twitter and Facebook.
Some might find the interface a bit tacky but I can live with that. My verdict: If one day I decide to switch to Aircel, I will buy this phone. In 7.5k a decent-looking 3G-enabled phone is not a bad deal at all. I can make calls, I can message and I can update my status on social networking sites.
Do I need more?
