A Learning for Life

30IBNLive IBNLive

Getting to anchor Zindagi Live has been the biggest learning experience of my life. It's tough to discuss issues which people don't even want to mention, events which they wish to forget, bitterness they no longer wish to remember...

And here we are, prodding them on to reveal it all on camera, asking them them what happened, when it happened, what went through their minds. Asking them to relive their painful moments, honestly, is painful for us, too.

But there's a reason behind our prodding. There are so many out there who relate to the stories we air, we want to tell them that if it's a struggle, go ahead, you will win for sure.

We also want to people to reflect on aspects of others lives which may otherwise go unnoticed.

When I was working on an episode on old age, it made me stop and think. Am I sensitive enough towards my mother's needs and emotions as she grows older or am I still taking her for granted?

After each episode - be it on homosexuality, obesity, HIV+ - I have learnt a lesson. My team has learnt a lesson. We are still growing, still learning.

Zindagi Live is not just a show for me and my team any longer. It's zindagi getting livelier and lovelier each day. And we wish to make a difference in each one's life as well.
