Salaam Mumbai
Aamchi Mumbai, the city of dreams,
Came to a halt on 7/11, amidst helpless screams;
Eight attacks in eleven minutes on suburban trains,
Left thousands of Mumbaikars with life long pain;
As they witnessed yet another barbaric act of terrorism - India's biggest bane;
The cowards thought of denting the famous spirit of our old Bombay,
But hats off to Mumbai, for bouncing back strongly the same day;
It was the common Mumbaikar who came forward to help the injured,
A great example of camaraderie, which is usually not heard;
People from all walks of life provided food and shelter to the stranded,
Bringing Mumbai close and ever so strongly bonded;
But for how long are we gonna lose lives of our dear Indians without a fight,
And listen to our PM's address to the nation full of trite?
For how long are we going to see the politics of vote bank,
And see the opposition blaming the government to please their own ranks?
For how long will the greedy politicians continue to appease one section of the community,
And create hatred amongst different sections of the society?
The blasts are over and the damage done,
But feel for those who have lost their loved ones;
It is high time that the government feel for our sufferings and pain,
And act on terrorism, transcending personal gains;
For one thing is sure, India is competent to fight on its own,
And crush seeds of terrorism that have been sown;
The life will move on and so will the Mumbaikars in trains;
But unable to protect its citizens is a big shame;
Hope and wish the government awakes,
And crush these terrorists, WHATEVER IT TAKES
Mumbai has taught to the world the art of togetherness,
For which I salute Mumbai with heartfelt indebtedness.
