Sivaji, The Boss. Of Crap

'Pigs go in herds, the lion walks alone' That's a rough and ready translation of something Rajnikanth spouts in and as Sivaji. He says it mid-way through the film, I squirm in my seat. My membership of the...

more padmini I remember Rajnikanth from some very forgettable Hindi films of the 80s.(Has only seen hindi movies).
The plot, the story telling, the antics, are so camp and ludicrous. And so narcissistic (Note potshots at other Tamil stars). And self indulgent (over three hours and self mythifying comments). And crass (see innumerable scenes wooing heroine in the first half). ( Well, all this was a tribute to hindi movies, except the narcissistic part, that is sivaji, a software engineer trying to enact kamal hassan and MGR, whats wrong in that! Ok, self indulgent over three hours is sivaji, who else would you expect? amitabh bachan, the three khans, than it would be alright, since in real life these hindi stars are like that.) Of course one way of looking at it is see the whole film as a joke. ( It is a joke, for any state in india to devote millions of money to help college students, build jobs for the unemployed, improve healthcare, not decrease poverty, but increase black market. I think you only observed the romance and that for you, I agree it is a joke) Except for some quirky graphics and some stylish sequences - one song in particular that I am going to refer to as the GORA song - which was crazy, funky and sarcy, Sivaji was the boss. Of crap. ( That’s the point ms. Sengupta, sivaji used black money to achieve his goals and in doing this, unfortunately, he succumbed to politics. He was truly the boss, since he helped people and he killed the villainous politician, and in doing this in an all part American way which is Bachelor of Social Service, part ms. jayalalitha way which is having a collection of apparels not only for him but for his future family, cute isn’t, and part Indian way which is using black market and killing the evil politician, very patriotic.) And I am the pig. Who followed the herd

Anitha Um...there are countless forgettable movies in the North, too, even Amitabh Bachchan's.....don't blame Rajni Sir, coz you can't understand Tamil & his style....

kiruthica This author doesnt know Tamil and didnt understand the dialogues as well - so how come you give stupid comments like this. This shows her stupidity of going to the movie because of the hype it created and not stopping there giving unnecessary comments... The kind of discrimination she has betn north and south India is so obvious in her post, this is really bad.

jeyanth excuse me.... in what way sivaji is a crap? is it because of the stunning song sequences? very good graphics? good story line? or is it because of the one and only superstar of indian cinema...rajinikanth ? i can understand why bollywood films are always better than tamil films. because bollywood films doesn't have a rajinikanth, pleasant songs( songs are a crap in bollywood really...) good story etc etc etc. their invested money gets saved only by a man called rehman, a south indian. bollywood has recently made a crap called 'AAG'. i was surprised that a remake is made out of another crap- sholay which didn't convey any useful message for the public.

Filmbuff Yours is the of the best reviews of Sivaji I have read. While every other critic might have succumbed to pressure and stayed neutral, you've taken the step forward. Everyone talking about the 'worldwide success' etc are simply the pigs Rajini talks about in the film.
You are the lionness and you walk alone babe..

Go Girl!
Keep it coming..

Nithish This just shows the superiority complex this journalist has.The film's main fault was that
1. It is not in hindi
2.It does not have hindi stars.
In any case, this journalist dos not know tamil so how can she comment?
