Diski in rainbow nation, via Buenos Aires
Now, Now. Just three more days to go and you are asking me whether I am doing the Diski? That means some intricate footwork and right now, I am concentrating more on the Vuvuzela and the Makarapa. Basically, that leaves God's 23 soldiers to do that for me.
Now don't get me wrong, but I have worshipped Estadio Diego Armando Maradona as my god since 1986, when on black and white television back in Calcutta - as a nine-year-old boy - I watched God's intricate footwork dazzle, confuse and conquer the opponent. As you must have guessed by now, I wear the light blue-and-white stripes of Argentina on my sleeve and my heart does cry for Argentina.
So, in this series of predictions, analysis and spot takes from South Africa, I begin with the La Selección (The selection), because the Albicelestes (Light blue and whites) can do the Diski in the rainbow country.
And believe me they can lift the most coveted trophy on July 11 because they have La Pulga Atomica (The Atomic Flea). And the grapevine has it that God is setting his ego aside and have finally told Lionel Andrés Messi that the team will revolve around him - like it did around God himself in 1986 in Mexico.
The Strategy Session:
And here's what needs to happen around La Pulga Atomica: Carlos Tevez to be in red hot form like he was this season with Manchester City, give Javier Mascherano a roving role along side Messi, but more in a defensive midfield position and send in Diego Milito as the super-sub. Also, put in Angel di Maria, the jet-heeled Benfica left winger.
My Trumpcard:
God's son-in-law, Sergio Aguero, the Athletico Madrid striker with a fancy footwork and a knack for scoring spectacular long rangers.
My Discards:
And that happens to be Gabriel Heinze and Martin Palermo (oh yeah, I know Palermo's goal allowed them to scrape through in the qualifiers).
Consider him a novice coach with an amazing loud/lewd-mouth, other teams will ignore him at their own risk. He is a one-man army, who can motivate like no one. Love him or loath him, El Diego and La Pulga Atomica can run riot this winter in South Africa. And if it happens, 'El Diego' will fulfill his naked ambition - run through Nuevo de Julio in Buenos Aires in the nude.
My Picks:
Group B: Argentina and South Korea to the round of 16.
