Rain and the blame game.

5IBNLive IBNLive

Just as sawan dawns according to the hindu calendar, monsoon decided to come in letter and spirit. Battling the heat and humidity delhites loved the sight of the slate sky. Dark clouds covered the capital city dementing the sun. The fresh drops of rain planted a wet kiss on the parched landscape. Nature unfolded a beautiful love story.

But this love story was no different from any bollywood masala movie. The villain made a mean entry. Endlessly blaring horns... serpentine traffic jams... water logged roads... and we all woke up to a complete mess. In popular jargon, "one rain threw the city off gear!"

And now comes the part where we all come together to play our all-time favorite "Blame Game." So here we go- the administration is poor, the politicians are corrupt, where is the tax payer's money used, the MCD has failed... and the list could go on...! While the administration may be poor, but we don't go to caste our vote and understandably the corrupt politicians come to power. Hence the tax payer's money is misused and a fund-less MCD is bound to fail.

This is not the end of it all. Dear reader, the real game just began! While the MCD sweepers may sweep the roads regularly, an average delhite cannot refrain from throwing empty chips packets, banta glasses, polythene bags and other such plastic waste on the roads which blocks the drainage system. In fact a common sight on the Delhi roads is - an expensive car, dark tinted glasses (who cares about the new traffic rules), the window rolls down, a bejeweled hand comes out and dumps some waste onto the road and zoooooooooooooooooooooooom!! When it comes to peeing and spitting in public places, I can bet delhites will give dogs a run for their money.

Not only the administration, the citizen is equally responsible for the capital's poor state. The system cannot work in isolation. And pointing fingers has never resolved any problem. It's time to take cognitive action. Aaah... question again. Who takes the action?? You... me... them...?? The answer lies within. I flooded my city. I bore the brunt of it. And now I only have to take corrective action.

As I take the first step, some more like you will join me and together we will welcome the next monsoon with a cuppa and hot pakoda's!
