Riding a saffron surge on the streets, Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Thursday filed his nomination for Lok Sabha election from the temple town of Varanasi invoking "Maa Ganga" seeking to galvanise support in the Hindi heartland in his bid to steer BJP to power.
Out of the 80 Lok Sabha constituencies in Uttar Pradesh, the most keenly watched election will be the one for the Lucknow constituency where BJP president Rajnath Singh is contesting against AAP's candidate Jaaved Jaaferi and Congress's Rita Bahuguna. In the run up to the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, CNN-IBN's Shreya Dhoundial visits Lucknow to find out the reactions of people on their candidates. Lucknow will vote on April 30 in the seventh phase of Lok Sabha elections.
Amidst another show of strength, Bharatiya Janata Party Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi filed his nomination for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, this time from Varanasi. Modi was accompanied by his right hand man and BJP UP in charge Amit Shah while he carried out a huge roadshow and filed his nomination. Invoking the gods in the spiritual city, Modi said he has been called to Varanasi by mother Ganga. Modi reached out to the people of Varanasi ahead of filing his nomination saying he would help the weavers in Varanasi just as he revived the kite business in Gujarat.
