There are mixed reactions in Kerala as one of India's top consumers of liquor heads for prohibition with a proposal to make God's Own Country alcohol-free in 10 years. The big question is whether the ban is prompted by political considerations and whether prohibition will actually work on the ground.
In a move that has sent ripples across Kerala, the state which was once infamous for its love for liquor is soon set to run dry. The state government has bowed down to pressure from within to announce that it will enforce prohibition in a phased manner.
The statement from the Minister came a day after the SC issued notice to the Centre on the Uttarakhand Governor's plea.
