Shootout at Nariman Point !

Terror returned to Mumbai on Wednesday evening, killing 200 people including ATS chief, Additional Comissioner of Police and other top Police officials. The terrorists struck with impunity all over the city, setting off coordinated multiple blasts and gunfire in a dozen areas across the Mumbai.

After serial blasts, in last couple of months across the nation, terrorists put Mumbai, finacial capital of India, to their hostage. Even in such a crisis situation State Government and Indian government officials didn't make any attempt to soothe the public by giving public apperances. Chief Minister of Maharastra kept informing Congress leader Sonia Gandhi (Don't as why this, coz he is more responsible to Congress leader than to public) rather than acting on the situation. Decision to call Army was taken almost 3 hrs after the terrorists started their operations. Poor assessment of the situation caused the delay in action as our beloved Chief Minister was busy in updating Sonia Gandhi.

Terrorists are making all attempt to wake Indian government up but apart from giving political mileage to opposition parties they are not successful in their mission. There is absolutely no fault from their end. They are quick, well planned, well prepared but same is not the case with Indian Government. So how this entire excerise would go after this attack.

Scenario 1: People will go to work, students to colleges and schools. Politicans and sociologists would term it as Mumbaikar Spirit. Happy ending !

Scenario 2: Since its an election time, Opposition would start blame game to take political mileage out of the entire scenario. They'll create hullah baloo till elections if things work out they'll win come to power and game would reverse. PM will make a comment that India won't tolerate such attacks. Happy ending !

Scenario 3: Some active people would start finding the problem with the system, probably with answer as well. Government will form a comittee which will produce report after 10 years. Happy ending!

Scenario 4: Our not so active Police would catch some people, term them as suspects. Court would announce judgement after 10 years. If they find them guilty......... (remember the parliament attack) nothing will happen. Happy ending!

Scenario 5: Another "Shootout at Lokhanwala.. Nariman" by bollywood. Happy ending!

So in every manner this story will end on a happy note. Mubaikar will be back, politicans would enjoy, bollywood will find another story, people will discuss the topic over tea and the story ends!

C what ever has happened has happened and the a clear involvement of pakistan is being said. event the US and the world for that matter is pointing fingers towards the paki nation. there are about 1000 legal paki nationals staying in India. rather that monitoring their moves they should be told to walk out of India. tomorrow all the Indian muslims will wear a black band on the forehead to protest against the brutal terrorist attacks but Mr Adnan Sami a pakistani who is staying in India earning on Indian soil is not ready to wear the band on his forehead. this shows he is a pure pakistani in India working against the interest of India. he should be thrown out of India rather he is asking for protection. i appeal to all fellow Indians to write to the concerned authorities and flush out all the paki nationals out of India. the Indian film industry and the television industry should not invite pakistanis in India for any of the programmes and movies. India is a nation of more than 1 billion people with half of them having great talent. the production houses inviting or shooting with paki nationals should be banned to operate from India ...

I have been watching the discussions on your show and it seems every single soul wants to blame the government for this attack. After all this government was voted to power by the people of this countrty. So, if there is someone to be blamed for this outrageous attack its the man in the mirror.
Security is a perception and given the vast coast line and limited resources that the country has a determined soul will always be able to mount an attack on India.
The point is, can we as responsible citizens unite to safegaurd our own interests? What do we want our government to do? The answer is simple and is listed below:-
a) This attack was masterminded by terrorist factions of the Al Qaeda so as to widen the rift between India and Pakistan. So, the government must first diffuse tensions with Pakistan.
b) The death of our heroes must be avenged. Crack teams must be formed to go into Pakistan and conduct surgical operations to weed out terrorist elements. Heads must roll at the end of the day. The objective must be made evident i.e. either Pakistan must co operate or we will take back whatever it owes India.
c) Formation of a central investigative agency with the mandate to act as a central command in case of a national crisis like 26/11.
If this what we want then we must be able to force our government to do it. This cannot be achieved through talk shows. We will have to take it out to the streets, spread the message and inform the government about the decision of a united nation.
Regards,
Dhanya. ...

DESPAIR, RAGE…AND THE DANCE OF DEATH
Swati Iyer.

“Sometimes I wonder if God will ever forgive us for what we have done to each other, then I look around and I realize God left this place a long time ago.”
~ Blood Diamond

They call themselves the “Volunteers of Martyrdom”. But now is not the time to focus on the mentality of a terrorist. Whether they do what they do for revenge or under the promise of heaven, we will never know. Their message echoes loud and clear. Our response is merely a squeak in comparison. They want Tabarra, we cower back in retaliation.

A group of brainwashed youth wreaks havoc, following a fanatical ideology, while our apologists and opportunists are proclaiming umbrage. A series of coordinated attacks have brought the city to its knees. We experience anger, pain, frustration. We sympathize. And our feelings are fleeting.

People and politicians talk about the ‘spirit of the city’, and that we will ‘bounce back’, irrespective of the circumstance. Is this just a security blanket to cover the various inadequacies of the system?
We fail to ask questions in fear of hurting another’s sentiment. It is okay however to see fellow Indians dying, to hear the eerie silence after a bloodbath.

We have lost not just our voices, but also the will to defy these acts of terror. We are a fundamentally complacent society. A gracious, democratic bunch, that endures any act of violence, with but a mumble of protest.

Politicians pronounce words of solace, some deliver assurances that a situation of this gravity will not repeat itself, trying to win brownie points with the masses. But all the Manmohan Singhs and Advanis and Deshmukhs and Gandhis of the world cannot restore faith in the government - they have been unable to provide something as basic as civilian security.

We have seen the death of ATS chief Hemant Karkare, ‘Encounter Specialist’ Vijay Salaskar, IPS officer Ashok Kamte, Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan and other valiant souls, which brings us to another question. Are these officers given enough protection before being sent on a anti-terror mission? Their body armor is flimsy â€" meant for defense against stone pelting maybe, but certainly not bullets. Terrorists move around with satellite phones while our police have mediocre communication systems. They are paid a mere pittance for the job of protecting the nation, one that has the definite risk of death.

At the same time, lakhs are spent on the security of politicans, they live in plush houses in all the Malabar Hills and Race Course Roads of India, waited on hand and foot. Would the reaction and preventive measures have been more explicit if a politican had been killed at the parliamentary attack instead of a civilian on the street? What IS the present government doing for our safety?

Why are borders left vulnerable across Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and the thousands of miles of coastline? Why are illegal migrants not detained? Why aren’t NSG bases established in key cities of the country? Why isn’t there any crisis management? Why don’t we have the infrastructure and equipment required in adversities? Why don’t we have safety drills and post-emergency measures? The people are unaware of what to do and how to do it. But we can’t really blame them considering our leaders are more ignorant.

Innocents have breathed their last while going about routine activities â€" at the railway station, on the streets, at restaurants. Foreigners have come here as guests for whatever reasons â€" tourism, business and the like. They have come to our country, our city and the fact remains that it is their corpses going back home. How many foreigners would dare to come back here for a holiday? Decide to have a luxurious one at that, and stay at the Taj or Oberoi? Would I invite any of my foreigner friends here?

I am outraged, I am ashamed. I am as much to blame as anyone else because I helped elect an inept lot of politicians â€" intellectually weak and morally bankrupt - whose empty promises and lack of deed leave a lot to be desired. The time to talk has passed. We need thought-based action. And we need it NOW.

“Forgiving a terrorist is left to God... But fixing their appointment with God is our responsibility...”

Jai Hind.

IT WAS SHOCKING AT MUMBAI . I FEEL THE PEOPLE SHOULD NOTE THE FOLLOWING .
1. WHY THERE WAS NO METAL DETECTOR AT BOTH HOTELS ?
2. THE HOME MINISTER SHOULD HAVE GONE LONG BACK . WHY STILL HE IS CONTINUING ?
3.THE POLITICIANS ARE FULLY CORRUPT AND THE PEOPLE OF INDIA MUST REVOLT AND VOTE FOR SINCERE CANDIDATES AND ENSURE SINGLE PARTY MAJORITY AT CENTRE . OTHERWISE THE COUNTRY WILL GO TO DOGS .
4.WHERE IS MR RAJ THAKREY ? TO SAVE MUMBAI , JAWANS BELONGING TO OTHER STATES GAVE THEIR LIFE . HE SHOULD NOW STOP DEVIDING THE COUNTRY .
5. ABOVE ALL , EVERY MUMBAIKER MUST FEEL PROUD OF OUR FORCES . LET US ALL LEARN TO SPEAK AS INDIANS AND GIVE A FITTING REPLY TO TERROR .

THANKS . S.K.BARDHAN. ...
