For quite some time now, the judiciary has been seen split over the issue of disclosing of their assets. There have been continuous debates on the news channels between former judges, parliamentarians, academicians and the media. It's all fine as long as it's a typical media practice to pack trivial issues in a 'Bollywood' type package and sell it to common man. The Constitution of India says that a person who wants to stand in elections should be of minimum 25 years of age and be a citizen of India but the Constitution of 'Contemporary Indian Politics' goes far beyond. It says that one should have gone to prison at least once, one should have incited communal tensions somewhere or should be involved in some scams in his recent past. Times since independence, general elections in India have come a long way, but throughout this post-independence era they have truly reflected the federal nature of the Indian polity.
