- I do not have sufficient knowledge of these techniques to make a comment.
- In many stage shows we see, with just a hand gesture people get hypnotized! Is that so simple? Asked by: Ravi Kiran Bandla
- Stage shows are entertainment - not therapy. This is not hypnosis but something very different.
- Can we hypnotize animals? :) Asked by: Ravi Kiran Bandla
- Why?
- what was your inspiration to become a Hypnotherapist? Asked by: BB
- The desire to help people to help themselves. Through this desire I went on a journey in which I learned how to help myself first, and though this learn to be more humble. People are wonderful - and helping them gives me great joy.
- Is it possible to recollect the events that are totally forgotten? Asked by: Ravi Kiran Bandla
- We never actually forget events - just fail to remember. Because memory is not an accurate recording we should always verify anything recalled - whether in hypnosis or not.
- What is your inspiration behind writing this book apart from being a Hypnotherapist? Asked by: BB
- My inspiration for this book is that magic is about being open to possibilities - and through this making life and the lives of others more wonderful.
- If hypnosis can alter the state of mind of a person, can it also 'Erase' some of the information or maybe hide it.. like a bad experience in the past ? Asked by: roadhound
- Our memory is not an accurate record of events anyway. We naturally edit information as we learn. Hypnosis can help you lose the emotional connection with negatives from the past so you can move on. You never forget
- Is it true that a hypnotized person will obey his master and do everything he commands ? Asked by: roadhound
- You are the master of your own mind.
- What is your opinion about ethical issues associated with hypnotherapy like "privacy" and integrity? Asked by: Arvind Agarwal
- As with any therapy, privacy and integrity are integral to treatment. In fact, hypnotherapy can be one of the most private forms of therapy as the individual does not always have to discuss the issues involved, only the objectives required. It is not analysis.
- Who can practice hypnosis/hypnotherapy? Psychologists or Medical doctors? Is practicing hypnotherapy is legal globally? Asked by: Arvind Agarwal
- Are you asking in relation to India? Globally there are many different answers to your question.
- Can we use hypnosis to interrogate a criminal and get answers? Asked by: Ravi Kiran Bandla
- If you think that a person cannot lie under hypnosis - this is not the case. However, using hypnosis techniques to establish rapport, spot body language and language patterns, this is something which can help.
- where to learn hypnosis ? Asked by: Vijaykumar
- You can start with a book, such as THE CLINICAL HYPNOSIS TEXTBOOK which will give you simple theory and practice. To learn I suggest you seek out a reputable training organisation. If you need help with this, feel free to email me ursulajames@hypnova.co.uk
- Hypnotism versus mesmerism.Does your book deals with it also? Asked by: BB
- My most recent book is not about hypnosis - but about the magic that lies within all of us. The magic of change.
- Can extreme hypnosis help a disable person, say somebody who suffered a stroke, a paralytic patient.. and trigger their limbs to work again ? Asked by: roadhound
- There have been well documented cases where stroke victims have used hypnosis to get functionality back, and to still Parkinsons tremors (although in hypnosis - not once they are out of trance). To influence at this level with pain or any other area where there is the lying down of new neurological pathways the hypnosis would need to be very soon after the event.
- Who invented Hypnosis and when ? Asked by: roadhound
- Some say it goes as far back as the Sleep temples of ancient Greece where people went for cures. It has been around in many shapes and forms as long as civilisation has been around.
- Can we use it in a Casino to our advantage ? Asked by: roadhound
- There are techniques called Neuro-longuistic-programming which have the same root as hypnosis which say they can help the individual influence behaviour and spot body language - but my advice is stay out of the casino. The house always wins!
- Which part of the brain does a hypnotized person fetch information from ? The part where temporary information is stored or the permanent one ? Asked by: roadhound
- This is too big a question to answer here. We use both the temporary and the long term storage system when processing information. To make it short, hypnosis installs positives into the short term memory, but it is the individual who decides whether this will go into the long term memory system
- Is hypnotherapy dangerous in any manner ? Asked by: BB
- There is no danger as you maintain control throughout. The things you see on TV and movies about hypnosis are not true. No-one can make you do anything you dont want to do - just as no-one could force you to fall in love with them!
- Can the hypnotist control my mind, and make me do something I don’t want to? Asked by: Vijaykumar
- ABSOLUTELY NOT. You are in control of your own mind - always. Hypnotherapy can only amplify and focus the positives, helping you achieve your full potential. See POSITIVE CHANGE free mp3 www.ursulajames.com
- Can Hypnosis Be Used as a Medical Treatment for problems like obesity? Asked by: Arvind Agarwal
- Certainly it can. It works on attitude, changing patterns of behaviour, and also on helping you to connect with your stomach (through the satiety centre) so you can stop eating when you are full. See YOU CAN THINK YOURSELF THIN - Ursula James Random House
- How quickly will I experience results from hypnosis? Asked by: Vijaykumar
- You will experience immediate benefit from the hypnosis (relaxation), and in terms of the therapeutic element it will start at the end of the session and take full effect around 3 weeks later

- Hypnotherapy can help reduce stress, and the stress response interacts with organic processes. Therefore, if the person uses hypnotherapy for stress reduction they can enhance their immune system and therefore be more able to recover/respond to these diseases
- The effect of Hypnosis is temporary. Will the cure also be temporary.? Like pain - seems to have gone, but back on effect of Hypnosis getting reduced. Asked by: sundar1950in

- What will happen if you ask a hypnotized person to go to sleep ? Asked by: roadhound
- You would never ask a hypnotised person to go to sleep! But if they do fall asleep because they are tired, there is a part of the mind which always stays awake and will protect you. This allows you to respond to the slightest noise or change which you feel might be harmful, and wake yourself up to respond to it.
- Is it possible to hypnotize a person without them knowing it ? Asked by: roadhound
- No. You cannot hypnotise someone against their will. Hypnosis is a collaborative process and requires the person being hypnotised to be able to agree to the process.
