- Why India Internet DAY ? Internet is global then why country specific ? Asked by: sundar1950in
- Hi Sundar, Thanks for the question :) I am sure you will know that India is one of the fastest growing geographies for some of the largest Internet companies today. Talk of facebook, LinkedIn and many more. The consumerism we have is ever increasing which will give an obvious boost to new business models and obviously businesses will find new ways of engaging with the customer(s). The intention and vision behind the #iDAY2012 is to create a platform which is global in nature, based right here in India. The Indian perspective is key for many of these global players and getting the global insights is key for us as well. Hence a platform of this nature will help the entire ecosystem to evolve and grow collaboratively. We have created the agenda for the day with key insights for industry leaders, do have a look : http://internet.tie-sig.org/agenda/ Obviously you can register using this link: https://www.123signup.com/register?id=csdfx

- What is the signification of India Internet Day? How it matters? Asked by: Arvind Agarwal

- Internet is facing legal hurdles in different ways globally? There are talks of more regulations on internet. Your take. Asked by: Arvind Agarwal
- Internet sure is facing hurdles. And on a broader note if you see, its really about issues around content and the rights. There sure are talks of more regulations on the Internet. Some ISP's have already banned some websites in India. Though the WWW was always supposed to be an open medium of communication, collaboration and networking and in my view, commanding the WWW by a few folks out there, should be resisted. There will always be questions of ownership of content etc. but there are models of various copyright laws to tackle them, which can be further strengthened rather than banning access to information.
- What is the future of "Mobile internet" in India? Broadband services are still expensive for most of the customers. India has still very little consumption of Data services. Your take. Asked by: Arvind Agarwal
- India has still very little consumption of Data Services, well, to some extent I would disagree with this pointer. You would be amazed to know how there is a demand of content as bhakti sangeet etc. on mobile in the Tier II and III cities in India. The future is you see is Mobile, without a doubt. The ease of access of information on mobile devices has surely created this aspirational need in the consumers to get information on their fingertips, the way the world is doing. Broadband services sure are expensive, lets face it, many people still can't really afford mobile internet 24/7, but these are issues which could really be solved at the Government level. There sure is a major opportunity in the Infrastructure space in India. I am sure with collaborative working structures with global companies, we would be able to grow to the next level. We do have an interesting session around Mobile (Apps and Infrastructure)at The India Internet Day, have a look here: http://internet.tie-sig.org/agenda/
- is internet good or bad ? Asked by: Vijaykumar Gunjawale
- Well, how about this, if you can pay your mobile/ electricity bills in about 180 seconds, without a queue, well, I suppose its GOOD only :)
- why are the internet charges for fast speed is still high? Asked by: picko2488
- There is a major gap to be addressed in India as far as the infrastructure is concerned. There are regulations which are being put in, though still pricing is more competitive in nature, than a customer driven approach. I am sure, in the near future, this will change and prices will drop down. There is an interesting play happening online in the E-commerce domain, with ventures starting up almost every day. The whole ecosystem as I see it, will impact the way customers leverage technology and the ISPs will take note. Hear the top E-commerce leaders speak out their bits at The India Internet Day: http://internet.tie-sig.org/speakers/
- What is 4G Technology ? Asked by: Vijaykumar Gunjawale
- To put it for everyone's understanding, in the simplest format, its faster and better access to data without a break!
- Why the price structure to be a part of the event so high. It restricts ppl with low income and high intelligence to be part of it. You should cover your major costs via sponsors. Asked by: Pradeep
- Pradeep, Thanks for the thought. The pricing actually is affordable if you see the value that you are going to derive out of the gathering. We have gone to the extent of making the Delegate list available LIVE on our website http://internet.tie-sig.org/delegates/. This will help you strategically leverage the event. And if you wish to set a comparative standard, you could look at some large Internet events which have happened in India recently and you might just ask me, how are you guys covering costs :) We are a not for profit organisation and we work for creating amazing opportunities for the entire ecosystem at large and happy to do the same for you! Obviously for young start-ups and students we are extending discounts on the registration fee. Feel free to write to me at paritosh@tienewdelhi.org
- Internet means "social" websites more to Indian people. What is the future of E-commerce/M-commerce and other "productive" services on internet in India? Asked by: Arvind Agarwal
- The future of E-commerce and M-Commerce, well, bright, very bright. Think about this. I know of a company from India, an 8 member start-up which is wanting to be the next Paypal. E-commerce companies, many of them are facing the heat with the OPEX, though the amount of funding raised and crazy valuations is phenomenal. A 19 years old guy Sahil Lavignia, raised about USD 7 million recently for his transaction enabling startup. The action sure is building up! With companies like PayTM, there's action on mobile as well! There are young entrepreneurs who are coming up with new offerings in terms of Cash Cards, which are reaching out to the older non-internet generation and engaging them to ride the curve. We have some amazing speakers and moderators at The India Internet Day, have a look here: http://internet.tie-sig.org/speakers/ Do register by clicking this link to know more: https://www.123signup.com/register?id=csdfx
- Internet is no longer a good medium keeping in mind security. We cannot touch, feel, and check things when we plan to shop online. How can we overcome this ? Asked by: Ankur
- Its human tendency to touch, see, feel things before buying, also when you go to a market to buy something, its instant. You pay and you get! With E-com, there is a shift in the consumption patterns of the customers, though there's a long way to go. An interesting bit if you see is, there are couple of E-com companies which are now setting up small retail (offline) outlets for their customers to engage with what they have to offer. There has to be an interesting User 'experiential' Interface for the customers to probably order online and get offline which will enable the customer to touch and feel as well! There are new ways in which many companies are doing it. Ikea as a furniture giant, is letting customers make buy decisions using interactive pictures :) Try and understand your customer's consumption pattern. Look at how they are using your product and what all uses are there. Look at how you can better the experience with great design. What Apple has done is precisely that. Made the UI so amazing that things have become way too simple. Come to The India Internet Day to have a look at how companies are creating this seamless online-offline connect and what next: http://internet.tie-sig.org/
