This issue comes up after Bollywood actor Emran Hashmi has made allegations against an upscale housing society in Mumbai. Hashmi alleges he was refused a house in Mumbai's Nibbana Cooperative Society allegedly because he is a Muslim.

This is quite common,I had gone thru manytimes. As a student I had to also pair up with non muslim friends to get a place to rent. Now these stars are facing this problem and has become headline issue.Things are not easy if you are a muslim, this is just one of those things that comes to u bcos ur a muslim...Any ways I am not losing hope....I am gifted to be born as a muslim and love my religion....I pity those who descriminate.NOte: most of the times my Dalit brothers never had a problem to rent a place to me ..they have a big heart.

It sellers right to sell you property or not.Do not attach rubbish reasons.People with similar background/culture/habits/languages may stay as group.private soceities face marketing problems to deviate once they choose the group. In case of government owned flats or houses , you can get it as matter of right. people like you should buy independent land and build your house or alternatively look for group whom you will find compatable.

Do not attach muslim tag as reason.IF that is so, not single movie of yours will run. Even among muslims, Nawaby families stay separate.Rich business class muslims stay separate. These things are posible because they organise as plot/ flat owner groups and buy as group.

people like you , sabana azmi etc wanted to get lime light on flimsy grounds

Yes.It do happen at every place in India. It is not just between Hindus and Muslims. It do happens for Hindus also based on different caste.

A Gujarati is not allowed to get in where all Rajasthani live,or Sindhi is not allowed to live where Gujarati live or same happens with SEBC,SC/ST peoples also.It is the fact and it still happens in India.

Govt has to make some Law which will be able to stop this type of activities.

This is the real extremism. These are main culprits who are trying to destroy the secular image of the country. The first thing we indians need to do is to clear our minds regarding other communities.

Yes,it happens. Why to go that extent,it happens in the case of a different caste, vegetarian,or a non-vegetarian.All said and done, some would be like this only.Practice is far different from precept.

It was winter of year 2006. while walking through the joggers park in Mira road i saw a building which looked good to me speifically because the view one would get from it.. One would see the hills of bhayander utthan, dahisar mangroves and the heart of our city the local trains.

The location was the only thing which attracted me...
I straight went home picked up my cheque book and i straight went to the shreepati builders in poonam sagar whose office was located in the same building.

this is the time when real estate market was booming builders had their say to whom they want to sell their constructed flats.

As i entered the office i was greeted by a man who i believe was coordinating and managing the whole office.

I expressed my desire of buying a flat in their building.

Before i could complete i was asked my name. which was obviously a muslim name.

Listening to my name disinterested him and he just said "SORRY we cannot sell to you " i asked why and what is the reason.

he justified the same by saying because you are a muslim.

I was saddened and shocked to listen to this in a country like india where i lived born and brought up with cosmopolitan thoughts. I couldnt believe it happened to me and in my own country "INDIA".

I was in mumbai a year back, and i also faced the similar situation in getting a house.I believe government should come up and put some regulation on these housing societies to avoid any discriminaties
