I dont think SRK should make such a big issue about being detained. The American officials were only doing their duty and they were right in doing so as they are trying to protect their country. SRK should in no way be given preferential treatment just because he is a celebrity. He should stop making such an issue about this and infact be happy that tourists are properly screened which would contribute to his own safety whilst his stay abroad.

Homeland security is a big thing for US post the 9/11 images hardly fading down from their memory and frequent tragedies coming in from Afghansitan and other muslim countries in undying unrest towards US. They go by the list of references that they have for additional security and cannot blame them for two reasons.
1. Its not against Muslims or against people with Muslim names, its all for their Nation's security.
2. Its not against an Popular individual in India, for none of them would know Shahrukh or his movie kingdom.

It happened to my friends and collegues too with muslim names and no one is above the law to them. Please take this in the right spirit, after all they are not against a minority religious community but surely bothered about their security

But again, one tragedy should not leave an ever lasting negative impact against the whole community and US should learn to move beyond the tragic past.

Here again, we are more tolerant Nation for we still open our gates to our Pakistani brothers and ofcourse getting hit again and again in the name of blasts. Let our tolerance not be towards negative things and its time we also start learning the best ways towards National security. It is a lesson to us as a Nation.

Shahrukh...am sorry for what happened to you, as in one way, telling India that its time for us also to be more protective no matter what or who it is?!!

Regards
Umasree

When Imran Hashmi raised the issue of profiling due to his religious background, SRK had said that one should not pay much attention to these things. Why is he now making such an issue of this?

get over it khan saheb. first of all stop saying that he was detained. he was just questioned. The same day an american legend bob dylan was questioned by 2 police officers in his home country and taken back to resort for verification where he was staying . There is a huge difference in Indian and American mindset. Even a star like shah rukh khan seems to ignore the importance and the reasons behind him being questioned and get back to typical indian mindset "vip pandora" that no one can question him anywhere in the world. get over it khan saheb and be real than reel in real life.

Would any of the immigration officers in Mumbai/Delhi airports identify the reigning superstar from China? Wanna bet your home on that one? Even if they are identified, if the particular name/passport/visa rings an alarm in the system, there are procedures to be followed. I am glad someone in US had the balls to do his/her job instead of falling for the superstar drama bit. We are so used to seeing our super rich / super stars / babus / politicians raping all set laws and procedures in this country on a daily basis that we think that is and should be the norm. We are convinced. Anything that deviates from that notion is abnormal and outrageous for us. Too bad. While doing his/her job, I hope the immigration official was not rude to SRK. If he/she was rude, then we should protest against that, not because it was SRK but because no one - Indian, African, Chinese or Arab - deserves that.
