Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was detained for two hours at a US airport after American immigration officials spotted the 'Khan' in his name.

Too long inspections are not good. If SRK was detained for 2 hours that is really too much. But, getting questioned for up to 30 minutes may not be acceptable. The inspections, of course, should not be done away with altogether; that will be really bad for an average flyer.

US is not your stage to dance with your co-actors as you do in India !!! Mr.SRK please do not speak about US & India, you are not the right person to do that. Get lost...

I can understand the personal anguish that SRK must have gone thru while being questioned at the immigration...but his anger against the US and its immigration policies seems misplaced and overhyped.

Firstly, SRK should be blaming the terrorist/extremist for creating this situation for him. More specifically, the terrorist/extremist that want to harm the US are mostly Islamic. So, any questioning of Muslims should lead to anger against the Islamic terrorists and Extremists.

Secondly, SRK was questioned like so many others from all faiths...so many in the US itself lament the loss of personal freedoms. However, most people accept them as the alternative leads to larger loss of life and property.

Thirdly, I think SRK has a very rosy view of India (maybe because he does not have to go through security here!). He should have first found out that most people (Americans as well as Indians) routinely wait for more than two hours in Immigration lines, custom harassment, etc. in India. I don't see these Americans lecturing India on its processes and "Warmth".

Lastly, I think the ministers who (in their quest to prove how concerned they are about minorities) jumped to defend SRK's honor, totally misjudged the sensibilities of the majority of Indian public. Young India is more secular than ever before and the best part is that they are not ready to accept phony religious items being made into rally issues.

I do not see anything wrong. It is the process that everyone has to follow. May be SRK felt bad. I feel his anguish. But it is hightime we start applying and following rules uniformly. People will respect us more following rule and not for flouting it.

I dont know why people are wasting thier time debating on this issue...India and Shahrukh should respect the laws of each country and whats the big deal. We normal beings are frisked at every mall, office gates ( even being a VP of a Public Ltd Company),theaters, airports etc whats the guarantee that Sharukh or anybody would not do anything wrong or carry something wrong. Also its been proven everytime that celebrities and big guys only try to use their power to or reach to escape cutomes and get things illegally by not paying taxes etc. And if a common guy like us has not paid tax or try to avoid frisking etc, he would be subject to judicial custody and what not. Please concentrate on some issue that the nation requires attention and not on guys who just take money and ebtertain us and actually do not deserve much attention as they do nothing for the society either through their movies nor through the money they earn legally/ illegally.

"But then, it's also a fact that Americans live in a bubble of paranoia and suspicion when it comes to all things safety and security."

Can you name ONE terrorist in recent memory who is not of Asian or Brown origin? The fact of the matter is there is a section amongst us who comprise 99.99% of the terrorists. So, it is only logical that 'we' are picked up for these random checks. We have no choice but to face this humiliation, particularly when we expect parole for a convicted terrorist (Afzal Guru) and struggle to prosecute Azmal Kasabs. Oh, did I mention that Arun Gawli and Abu Salem fought elections earlier this year. And yes, that multiple-passport madam, Monica Bedi, is the top-notch reality show star today. It is unfair to expect USA to adopt "our" smugness or 'liberal' practices.

It is exactly becasue of this paranoia and suspicion that 9/11 never got repeated despite USA having the largest number of immigrants in the world. I have been to USA multiple times, and there is no country that offers better equality and justice than USA.

Shahrukh is a role model. But, that does not make him eligible for special treatment. But, the fact that he belongs to a community that has been accused of fomenting terrorism does make him vulnerable. It is unfortunate that we all are targets of these 'detentions'. But, let us not forget that most of the terror threats have been born amongst us. We have no choice but to pay the price for that.

Regards,

Sudarshan

Very true.... Being an India muslim student studying in India away from our home town we face so many difficulties...The treatment we get i think that time we feel that there is no human rights nor constitutional rights guarnteed to every citizen under fundamental rights under sec 14 to 21 under indian constiuntion they really dont exist. To live in a counrty like india which is talks a lot about Secularlism i dont see that happening in real..I think people should change their attitude towards muslims. So that we grow as a country..
