Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was detained for two hours at a US airport after American immigration officials spotted the 'Khan' in his name.

SRK and the media has been irresposible by making a big issue of a trivial non-issue. First of all there is no " detaining" and he was only called in for a 2nd round of questioning, which is quite normal, especially if ur name has been used by some malicious elements. Even former vice-presidents of US have undergone security checks in thier own airports and that makes thier system laudable!! You are a suspect unless proved otherwise, as simple as that!! He should have fully co-operated with the officials and left it as it was!! Why creating unecessary fuss?? Does he suffer from some kind of a complex that he is above all and need not go through security? And the way Ambika soni has reacted to this can be at best be termed as "infantile" and is sad that she is a member of the cabinet since that makes it the offiical stand of the Indian govt. You should rather be overhauling the secuirty in India and make it uniform for all and learn a lesson out of this..

This is utter bullshit. Sharukh detain at Airport comes as headlines even after days of that incident, But when same thing happened to Dr.A.P.J.Abdhulkalam, this came to news after a month. I know its stupidity to compare the Missile Man with this actor. BUT THAT SHOWS THE GREATNESS OF DR.A.P.J. HE NEVER COMPLAINED OR TOOK THE ISSUE SO SERIOUSLY. But this is rediculous. Who is he, afterall an acot, why give so much of emphasis on this news. IS HE A LEADER OF THE NATION, IS HE A SOCIAL WORKER, IS HE A ARMY MAN. IT'S SHAME ON INDIAN MEDIA. I DO AGREE IT SHOULD BE ON NEWS BUT GIVING SO MUCH OF IMPORTANCE IS NOT GREAT.

As much as the situation is sad, it has become a social norm now. Post 9/11 America is not willing to take chances and honestly, SRK isnt the only man on planet earth to have been detained. People are detained for various reasons by the US immigration and yes, it may be unfortunate and humiliating but it is protocol. Sadly, only celebrities get media acknowledgement when such an incident occurs, and not the regular "aam janta." SRK dealt with the situation very stupidly and in fact should have gone on record to be more empathetic rather than expecting special treatment. This VIP culture does not exist in the US. So basically, SRK and his bollywood pals who feel that US immigration needed to "Google" him, need a complete reality check. The actor came here for a show WHICH we all know he was getting paid for. Yes, any kind of discrimation is bad but when you want publicity from the situation, it is simply sick.

SRK stay in India if you want VIP treatment.

Mr.Khan should learn to adhere to the law of lands. It is a common procedure in united states if there is a iota of doubt they are going to interrogate you irrespective of your status. Mr.Khan is wrong on following aspects:
1.Not willing to obey the law of lands.
2.Because of bruised ego, using media to make it as a big issue wasting time and resources of we indians.
3.Playing the miority card for frivoluous issue. He should have substantiated with statistics as how many minority/majority has to face these problems. Anyway, considering his iconic status he should have been careful in bringing in the divisive feelings. Being Indian should be supreme. Media should play a responsible role in higliting the negative divisive talks based on religion, caste, linguistic or region basis without backing of hard evidence/stats.

Jai Hind!

Awesome publicity for SRK's coming movie, 'My name is Khan.' What a coincidence that the theme of this upcoming movie is similar to what 'happened' to SRK at Newark airport!

I think SRK is just trying to promote his new film based on religious profiling. A few news media channels in India are feeding the same, since they have some promotions lined up for that film on their other channels in India.

In the past, USA has screened its own citizens (celebreties and politicians) for more than 2 hours on US airports. SRK seems to believe that his Indian celebrity status allows him special rights on foreign soil.
And why should they trust even SRK, when it comes to protecting their borders? Everyone enetering the country has to be screened on equal terms. SRK is just trying to use his media influencing power and political connections to generate a buzz aroung his film....and Karan Johar is happily supporting that...

Co-incidently that happened for his good. Maybe the immigration officer should be rewarded with an award with the best promotion of a movie. Even a new title for an Oscar is desirable.

US has not screened its own citizens for more than 2 hours anyway. Frisking, secondary checking has been done. I am an IT professional dealing with Biometric products. Do you know how it works. It starts with Visa process in Embassies or Consulates. Once the fingerprint and Retina identification is done, all details of the person is taken. Visa is not direct in one hour. It will take weeks for visa to be approved. Police verifications to everything is done. It is stored in their database with fingerprints and biometric features. It is directly accessable to any immigration officer of that country. In case of a person who has travelled atleast one time to that particular country, all details starting from the time he came to that country to the time he left the country, his work details all are in the database. So in this case SRK, has been a constant visitor. Moreover, the American Ambasador had to come out with a statement and even the Immigration Department of US had to come out with a statement of one person, stating that the delay was only for 66 minutes and that was because of the late arrival of his baggage. See the way they had to react. If it was genuine detention, then this statement is not desirable. So this is just a gimmick for that power superimposed, uniform clad headstrong officer to get cheap publicity. I am not vouching for Shah Rukh Khan. I am speaking for millions of travellers who are subjected to this type of issues. First timers, I agree will face delay. Constant travellers need not be delayed so much. No logic is there in that long detention.

Ok, let us presume that he was detained because he was a Khan. So what? What is so glaring wrong about it? Can he vouch for every Khan on earth? May be his name did not make an impression with the officers of the US Immigration. He should not have made such a big scene without a valid script. Thousands of Indians including many a Khans pass through the US immigration. He should learn to behave like an ordinary mortal when in unknown territory. US is not India where you can wish and dish.

The Microsoft people also behave like US Immigration. Do not yet recognize the great Khan. Whenever I try to type Shah Rukh, their Word 2003 suggests Sham Rock.

Why this issue is growing like fire, nothing happened when it was done with APJ Abdul Kalam. He was our president he was on tht position to server our country but these actors are working for their own livelihood ad earning huge amount basically ppl r getting fooled to watch their movies and pay huge amount almost Rs.200 in multiplex which ultimately go into actors pocket only. Even our airport authority should be stricter with anyone not only with common ppl.

THE OFFICIALS & ORGANISERS OF THE EVENT AT USA, HAVE ERRED FOR SURE.
WHO HAVE INVITED HIM FOR ATTENDING THE INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION ARE DEFINITELY AT FAULT.
WHEN THEY HAVE INVITED HIM;
IT IS THEIR BOUNDEN DUTY THEY SHOULD SEE THAT HE REACHES SAFELY TO THE DESTINATION AND BACK TO HIS HOME.
HOW CAN THEY TAKE IT FOR GRANTED AND LEFT HIM TO QUESTIONING, AT USA?
ORGANISERS ARE ANSWERABLE AND SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE.
NEXT TIME LACK OF FAITH FOR SAFETY AND HUMILATION NO BODYY WILL COME.
