Well..Every body is subjected to be checked during the Port of Entry at the US , my question would be IS SHARUKH KHAN special like any other prime minister / president ? We know he is famous among us all over the world but that doesnt mean he should be having special priveleges in any other country where the natives dont know him.

Thousands of ordinary Indians especially Malayalees have been detained at foreign airports and jail. No American sponsored TV channels are bothered. On Indian Indian Independence day the news broadcasted appears to be promotional.

All the Indians and Malayalees choose to keep quiet. Even Dr. Kalam choose to keep quiet. So we came to know about that only later and we took it head on. The defiant Continental Airlines was brought to knees. Same way when you confront a Tit for Tat guy, you get it back and here the Americans got it back. Their Ambasador to India had to come out with a public statement and even the immigration department had to come out with statement mentioning that SRK was delayed because of delayed arrival of baggage and that they were ready to render sorry. So speak out when you are harmed. We suffered in silence when British ruled us as slaves. But when people like Bhagat Sing, started fighting them back, it gathered momentum. Speak out.. we have the best and the strong media that is NEWS HUNGRY. They are the watchdog of democracy. They will inform every news and it may be important to some while unimportant to others.

Immigration at Newark is usually not a pleasant experience because of long waits even for the primary inspection. Jet lag and a long flight make the experience worse. That said, several hundred Indians go through this every day (after a long gruelling economy class ride). Secondary inspection is not that unusual either and usually involves a long wait and more questioning. There is no "VIP" line or exception process. Everyone goes through this.

That said, the staff are usually professional if somewhat curt and they have a job to do. There is a process and it is very unlikely that the officer singled out SRK just because of his last name. It is, of course, probable that people with that last name are statistically likelier to go through secondary - an unfortunate post 9/11 truth in many places.

Some official who exempted Al Gore from a security check got into trouble and Al Gore was asked to go through it again. The same day that the SRK event happened, two cops who didn't recognize Bob Dylan picked him up for questioning in New Jersey as they thought he was loitering. That hasn't generated even 5% of the uproar that the SRK incident has.

In the post 26th Nov world, it is high time that we stop the whole "VIP" thing when it comes to security - whether it is airport security or allocation of black cat commandos. "Eminent" citizens would do everyone a favour by not complainign loudly unless they have conclusive evidence of discrimination. SRK would have done well to emulate Dr Kalam in not adding fuel to fire.

Before reacting let us take a deep breath and then re-act. WE believe that it our birthright to break all rules. The rest of the World does not operate on this principle. Not only SRK but lot all others including Hindus are checked / frisked. We should respect rules (as they are made to ensure our safety) and also Officials who follow rules. But no in India, a telephone call from top can let you go free from all rules. Our newspapers are full of such stories each day. Today TOI has reported, Auto-wallahs going on 2 day strike because TPT officials have started checking their licences & documents, and # Mahasahtra officials + Politicians entering a Lion's cage for a photo op, a 3 year old riding a bike for his parent's 15 seconds of fame on 15Aug. Common people if we can not improve India let us not expect the rest of the World to follows our whims.

SRK has had links with Dawood and his gang because of his friendship with Bharat Shah who is a frontman for D bhai. I mean Sunjay was having links with D gang and even had arms with him. So actors etc cannot be trusted and should be checked out like everybody else. If SRK does not like it, he need not go back to USA. I mean if I wanted to enter SRKs house, I am sure I would be frisked. If I make a song and dance about it, will you in the media bother. SRKs ego has got overbloated and nature will puncture him vert soon.

1.Indian media is making too much out of it! In fact, if anything, it should have been embarrassed about APJ Kalam’s incident, not this one.
2.SRK is now saying that he doesn’t want apology AFTER the US officials here have already said that everything was done in accordance with rules and regulations, and after SRK and his groupies have already created enough nonsense (good publicity I suppose).
3.SRK is only an actor or in his own words, “a glorified bhaand,” so why does he expect everyone to know him or worse do away with rules for him? He’s famous among South-Asians, and in the Gulf region. He may have other fan following but not to the point where everyone would recognize him on the streets!
4.The delay was due to delay in baggage not what SRK has been suggesting about paranoia!
5.SRK cribbed that the poor he could only make one phone call! Guess what, that’s the rule!
6.Those complaining about Islamophobia need to become more vocal about Islamic terrorism. Most terrorists attacks around the world are carried out by Muslims, and in turn the so called “moderates” and “secularists” in India only try to justify it or say that these are not “real” Muslims! Why don’t they have the guts to come out and say that terrorism is wrong? They will be able to do that, if they get over the “victim” mindset.
7.Since 9/11 there hasn’t been a single terrorist attack in the US! That is what India needs to learn. When it comes to national security US does NOT compromise with anything for anyone! While Indians are used to having multiple attacks every year and still dont learn!
8.Indian celebrities have a sense of entitlement! And Indian politicians and media are happy to just play the minority-victim card! For instance, media created such mountain over the Emran Hashmi incident, but totally forgot to cover the news with the same zeal when Hashmi said that he was NOT a victim of religious profiling! Why didn’t the media go after him for making such senseless and dangerous statements?
9.The bottom line is that the room for common sense and professionalism has been shrinking in India, and fast being replaced by mediocrity, fluff, and sensationalism!

The muslim name 'khan' must be the reason for this shabby treatment by U.S.officials. They have got the obsession and religious bias after WTO incident. SRK being a famous actor and known throughout the world, the US authorities should not have insuled him. Routine check up is alright, but they have exceeded the limit. Further more the Organisers of the event for which the Khan has gone to US should have informed the Airport and Immigration authorities of the arrival of Khan and should have made arrangements to receive him. The Indian consulate should also aware of his arrival and made arrangements. If this sort of insult is meted out to famous Actors of Hollywood either in New Delhi or Mumbai, will they keep quiet?

Why this incident is given the importance.
If you choose to come to US, you have to adhere to their rules and regulation.
Sharuk Khan is an actor, so will that entitle him to have special priveleges? may be in India, not here in US.
When I was travelling to San Fran, the guy who stood behind me looked very familiar, that gentlemen sat next to me to put his shoes back, like me, he was also told to remove his shoes for security check, he smiled at me and then only I realized that the gentlemen is Harrison Ford!.
Have a life guys!

Our Mr Khan was not "detained." He was asked to wait till his luggage arrived. That is perfectly natural. I think Indians are excitable and need to cool down at alleged insults. More excitable is our media.
