Obama completes one year of being elected President. How would you rate him?

It's been a year since Barack Obama was elected as President. A year that has seen the US go through its worst possible economic crisis. How would you rate the US' 44th president's term so far?

When there are huge expectations from any person, on first look he appears to have failed in his task. Obama has not been in office for long and it is difficult to correctly evaluate his performance at present. He is working in the right direction but his dealing with Pakistan is against India’s interest. We cannot have full faith in his utterances.

Its ridiculous for Indians to rate a american prez. How is he related to us?Is he secretary General of UN? or does he hold any portfolio in our cabinet. Why not ask to rate Asif ali zardari, mahinda rajapaksha, wen jiabao with whom we live next? America should not be regarded as leader of this world,it is just another country which puts international relationship to ransom.

Current Rating:

Correct me if I am wrong. He got elected one year back, but he is not in office for one year.

Nothing Great. Change - - has it been seen or felt. Not much.Efforts on his part have not made the system accept change.Visibility of results of i saction may take years.you do not admit a child in the school and ask the next day whether the child has got the doctorate.
history udges leaders by passage of time.Any attempt to Crown him with glory and prizes will be counter productive.
He is still on first gear and will take time to shift to Top gear.
bear and grin.

I have recently returned from five months stay in USA. This was my sixth trip and, I have never seen country, as divided as this time. For first time I heard about leftists and communists in the Government. USA does not need socialism. The immigrants from Europe who form bulk of Americans left their country to be away from socialism, communism and the state of affairs where Government takes control of their lives. Americans will not accept too much Government control, bailouts and subsidies. Obama needs to remember it is these kind of policies which put countries like India in third world countries. Americans have enjoyed kind of affulance which people in other five continets only dream of. So why should they accept change.
if elrctions are held today, Obama will loose as was shown by yesterdays election.

obama is a good orator and unable to translate his oratory to action. Of course his efforts are commendable in cleaning the mess left by his predecessor in iraq and afghanistan but fails to deliver in releasing nobel laurete aung san suu kyi held by the myanmar junta. Tacking myanmar is just a 24 hour affair given the might of america in todays world. He can overnight become a global hero if he just spares a thought of doing something concrete. India can make a most trustworthy ally if he has a farsighted vision of the threat india faces with a hostile neighbour pakistan.

A breath of fresh air in the American Leadership.

Now with Obama as Prez, it is possible for other countries to hold their heads high and seek Friendship with a truly great America, an America that cares, understands and assists lesser endowed countries. An America that is truly a leader of Human beings rather than that of A Military power only.

Other countries require from America Food security, peoples security, Human rights, children security, education and rule of law. Thus good systems of governance are required. Can OBAMA lead America to take on this goal as a leader and pull in other countries? The Marshall plan did this after WW2 to rebuild Europe. Let us hope the future will see some of this.

Obama may not be able to showcase a definite piece as his trophy in this first year, but his election and the performance during this one year is a real game-changer not only in the US but in the whole world, itself. The world is more hopeful, more positive and more confident of a definite common future. His presidency is based on the universal human values we respect in all corners of the world. The Nobel committee realized the symbolic meaning of his election as the greatest event bringing in peace to our world, this year. To be colured, is not a permission to be ruled. Coloured can rule the world. Obama's election has rewritten this singular rule, dating back from time immemorial, that a black man or for that matter anyone can be the most powerful person on this Earth. It actually happened for the first time with Obama's election. Skin-colour was used to demand supremacy or submission, from the time this world started. Many countries like India changed that rule for ever with our independence. USA took another 60 years to accept that fact.

Obama may not be able to show off some solid achievement soon, as he is in the process of reversing the dangerous trends followed in the 8 years before him. Also, the bar of achievement is raised several notches up for him, as he is the first black president. We wish him well, and assure him that more than a billion Indian Best-Wishes are always with him, in his great journey.
