What can be done to make India a safer place? Give suggestions

Each terror attack, whether internal or external, has ripped through the country's social fabric. It also exposed our vulnerability as a soft state in terms of dealing with terror and has brought to light the fact that there is a lack of coordination between various agencies when it comes to fighting terror. What do you think can be done to make India a safer place? Send us your suggestions.

As an Indian , I am aware of the inevitable and invisible hands of those blood hungry elements who will cast their evil on innocent civilians sans notice.

I am also aware that it will drag and take years and years to bring to books those who are caught red handed in this dastardly acts.

Unless we overcome the flaws of the laws and bring in justice with speed to appease those hearts that bleed , the time is not far when the lethargy of this apologetic long drawn legality will be taken over by encounter killings with due apologies to the Human Rights champions.

God save and be wise lest men of God differently behave daring to be otherwise

Internal vigilance has to be tightened. Terror attacks on India become easier because the external elements get support and protection from some individuals and militant organizations of our country. Punishment for harboring and helping any terrorist should be made crime against the country punishable with death sentence; also making sure the case is disposed off on fast track. Deterrent punishment is a must in such cases.

We need to bring accountability for every government job-holder. All non-performing government officers including police and municipal staff jobs must be terminated for dereliction of duty or for underperforming.

It is the duty of the police officer to maintain law and order and control millions of traffic violations taking place. How can they look the other side or complain they are understaffed or over-worked? Those excuses are not acceptable. Punishment must be given quickly to all criminals alike regardless of their background. They should not be influenced by the rich, powerful or the politicians as in the case of 1984.

The real issue is what does an average Indian cop or municipal staff job holder accomplish in a single day? How many FIRs did they accept, how many chalans did they issue?

If they were performing earnestly, one would not see hundreds of encroachers on practically every busy road and thousands traffic violations taking place.

These violators know that it is easy to get away with crime in India and that is why they are taking full advantage of the situation. Punish them hard and the problems will be solved in no time.

Our porous borders need to be sealed and all illegal must be expelled. We have enough population here and we don’t have the resources to take on added burden of illegal. Our limited roads, water, electricity, land; food is being stretched to the limits in the cities.

Our intelligence still appears to be weak as many sleeper cells in India have not been uncovered. Pakistan based militants not only have the blessings and funding from ISI but also the support from their sympathizers in India. Once caught, they should all be hanged in public for waging a war against India.

Current Rating:

Among the issues that need to be addressed on a war footing include:

Wiping out of corruption - how else could terrorists get hold of passports - and other facilities that are normally not available to them ?? Make corruption punishable with a life sentence.

Prevent and remove encroachments and the creation of ghettos - this is where people who wish to disappear go into.

Random and frequent security checks at all crowded places like Railway stations, Bus stands, Cinemas, Malls, etc

Recording detailed information and cross verifying complete antecedents of guests at all hotels including checking their baggage for contraband.

Ensure monitoring of tenants and purchasers of flats and property for any hint of suspicion. Verify and confirm antecedents.

Appoint citizens groups in all localities to liaise with the local police for any suspicious activity.

I think corruption is the key for all this problems.. Everywhere you can get away just paying money, whether it is police, customs, regulations, etc. Recently we came to know police helped to get passport for terrorists for money.. There are many such incidents by which terrorists smuggle arms and do their act.
Another thing is that, we should check is the money flow for terrorists. It has to be controlled strictly and the problem will die, because the terrorists mostly work for money.
Internally we should have better intelligence, coordination between agencies, technology based tracking system and trained force to deal with terrorists..
