Are women as fighter pilots a bad investment?

Are women as fighter pilots a bad investment?

The Indian Air Force (IAF) will have to wait for women to be fighter pilots. Vice-Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal P K Barbora, on Tuesday gave a statement, which suggests that women IAF officers must delay pregnancy if they want to become fighter pilots. Tell us what you think.

this is not a mateer which needs to be dealt with politically & emotionally but pragmatically. is any parent ready to sacrifice their only daughter or daughter for the nation when the actual need arises. if at all a war happens & if the pilot is caught the way LT saurav kalia was caught during the kargil war or even flt lt nachiketa was caught can anyone even imagine what will happen to the ladies who join as pilots. these very people who today canvas for the inductment of women in air force or evn army and navy as combatants will condemn the government for its faulty policy. if they think that the women combatants should then be posted at safe places then they should know that already their male counterparts are overburdended with postings to the hard field areas while they enjoy all the comfort of soft postings althouh both earn the same. burdening the gentlemen officers more just because in our present format they don't have a say because the moment they say someting they will be condemned is something sinful. moreover the physical condition and constitution of a female is definitely different from a male's so i request to all those who matter please don't politicise this matter and think over it with great deal of compassion.

There are already many issues which are dividing our country why rake up another foolish issue to divide the society.

will the women groups be satisfied only if they are made to sit in the pilot seat and made to fly high?

they shall realise that its not safe to indulge them in such activities during the time of war.

are they ready to face the physical torture in case they become prisioners?

even if they are ready the government and the people of this country will not wish to see.

they must think practically about this issue. the government clearly says it spends 11 crores to train a fighter pilot. and if it is spent on a woman and she takes maternity leave for 2-3 years.........its only our government money and our money that are lost.

so women.....think abt it in various angles and then start blaming the government.

we are an intolerant lot. we cannot accept a realistic observation from an expert and a realist. Let those women Volunteer to be Fighter Pilots and let them suffer in the hands of the enemy. why patronize those thoughtless and impractical people.
Go ahead ladies..join the real world if you have a death wish to suffer in the hands of the enemy.

The job of a fighter pilot requires a higher degree of physical and mental abilities, all men cannot be fighter pilots.....so lets not create a gender divide on it, the requirements of the defence forces are their perview and only the defence forces must take a call on whether they find women suitable for being fighter pilots or not.....

women have proved their mettle if they can fly fighters in air force like in US,Israel, russia then they surely can in India. We need to study work model of these countries and implement such systems in Indian Air Force as soon as possible .

Current Rating:

women can be just as good at the job of a fighter pilot as a man is.

BUT

when at war the country doesn't afford not to have fighter pilots on leave as it is matter of survival of the integrity of the country as a whole.

SO

if women are taken in combatant roles they should be made to sign a contract according to which they can not demand a maternity leave during their term as a fighter pilot.

AND

women coming into the armed services which has been a male dominated field should be able and ready to take on the scenarios that men encounter without demanding any special concessions.

I SUPPORT EQUALITY OF WOMEN AND MEN AND GIVING WOMEN SPECIAL PRIVILEGES WOULD COUNTER THE VERY IDEA

The statement of the Vice chief of IAF on the issue of women fighter pilots should be taken in the right context. Officers of the armed forces have their own vocabularly, which should not be misinterpreted. They should not be expected to be polished like politicians, who are only expert in preching than prectice. The procedural requirements of the professional forces should better be left on the exclusive domains of there's.

Physical strength is of no consequence if a person is mentally weak.Women officers in the Indian Armed Forces have proved that they make excellent leaders and reliable soldiers. This compliment is based on personal experience of having served with them in all kind of terrain and conditions over the years. When the Vice Cief of Air Force makes a statement, he makes it with definite logic and reasoning. Why take it negatively? I am sure he is not against women pilots. Please do remember he leads them.Under his leadership there can only be the best of pilots and best of air staff. Please don't misread his statement to make your own deductions.
