Ram Gopal Varma threatens to expose the politics of television news.

Hi Rajeev,
I know you are a media person and you\'ve got to get its back when a movie attacks it. I have seen that already in Paa (Paa and Kurbaan gets same rating!!!!). Next time when you give a biased rating try not to be so obvious. I think you need a lesson subtlety before you can criticise Karan\' film-making capabilities.(Although i agree that Karan knows nothing about subtlety. P.S.:MNIK)
All the best for your future.:)

Hi Rajeev,

As most of the viewers said, the movie is contradictory to your rating. I really dont understand why did you even used words like "ill researched" , I would rather say "well researched". I agree with most of the viewers on the fact that you (and other channels) dont rated the movie because it points at you, shows how the media become irresponsible these days showing something from what it gets more money without worrying about the content of the news and the truth. Undoubtfully you got the message wrong.

Dear Rajeev

Wake up ! The reality is "LOBBIES ARE HERE TO STAY".

I live in US currently and clearly see the plot to be an 1980's Hollywood style showing the nexus between media, politics and business.

India is 20 yrs behind and its an innocent expose on the lobby culture that is starting to gain momentum in Indian society.

Here in US, its clearly known that CNN is a Pro Democrat channel and Fox is a Pro Republican channnel.
Corporations openly acknowledge allegiance to Blue and Red parties.

I like the boldness of the movie - RGV is well and truly back !

I guess Amrish Kakkkar and Malik seem to be too close to Rajdeep and Prannoy Roy in real life - eh !

I am no big fan of RGV but, the cinema seems to have hit a home run in its message. No wonder the rating was low for the movie!!RGV is a maverick film maker and his style is visible through out the film.I think your opinion of the film being 'Ill researched' is a bit over the top.It only makes viewers like me to wonder whether the critique has no guts to accept constructive criticism

Completely agree with Rajeev Masand on this one. The characters in the movie are either black or white... Nobody seems to have any shade of grey. Real life is far more nuanced than that. If RGV's aim was to provide us a 'behind the scenes' view of the media's true colors, then he has miserably failed in achieving that.
Bachchan was the greatest disappointment of the movie. He seems to be literally sleep-walking through this silly enterprise.

I think the movie deserves at least 3.5/5...brilliant camera work and well directed....I guess no media channel would rate this movie well or worthy...Varma is not copying Madhur but madhur does copy varma because he was his long time assistant so there you got it wrong again mr masand...yes I agree that its not completely the varma style or else he would have ripped media apart much worse than what he did actually (which I missed though)....but great songs and great meaning especially the banned jana gana mana rann hai....

Mr. Masand I would first like to mention that i really respect and appreciate your reviews. But in this case i really beg to differ. Like someone already said I see a conflict of interest. I thought Rann was a really well made movie. Everyones aware how the news channel work these days... m not sayin all news channels r like this bt most of them are... I also agree that the movie has some glitches bt every movie does... the way u have blasted this movie... let me tell u Mr. Masand.. Rann is not embarrassing, it is embarrassing for us that we follow critics who are so biased.

May be the media should do a special show on its own ethics and hunger for TRP - an expose on the industry by the industry. Rann is a work of fiction but at times fiction is frighteningly real.
