Real Heroes: Tell us who your heroes are

Real Heroes: Tell us who your heroes are

TimePosted by IBNLive at 07:01 PM, Feb 01, 2010 in Features

Real Heroes is an annual felicitation that recognises the triumph of the human spirit. In its third year in 2010, this initiative will honour the real-life heroes in our society who have worked selflessly to make a difference and serve a cause, in their own inimitable way, thereby setting a precedence several hundreds could follow. Suggest such real-life heroes around you, join the conversation. For more log onto http://www.cnnibnrealheroes.com

Real Heroes make a difference. I think your story on Techies as Teachers in Bangalore inspired me to write to you and tell you about a group of volunteers (techies again! in Gurgaon who spend their free time teaching disaster safety in schools in Gurgaon.Emloyee volunteers of Bechtel Corporation spend their free time helping schools by sensitising teachers, students and non-teaching staff about disaster safety. They even help the school form Geohazards clubs and also prepare School disaster management plans and also help test these plans by conducting mock drills. It is drills such as these that would have saved lives in the Bangalore fire. After having worked in schools for two years, they are planning to work in old-age homes and orphanages also this year. For more information you may contact geohazsociety@gmail.com.

Warm regards,

Sabharim

Personnaly my real life hero would be someone who has contributed to the society without knowing in simple persuasion of another change in society which he/she percives as plausible. Chetan Bhagat through his novels presents again and again the problems faced by any Indian in the society, every problem of the society can be noticed in his books be it child labour or problems within the society from one community to another. He has most certainly addressed every issue we face daily. Yes he hasn't suggested a remedy each time but that he made us aware of our faults without hurting sentiments of people is a very conmmendable job in a highly sentimental country like India. We enjoyed the movie 3Idiots but not everyone has noticed that both the problem and the solution in the movie come from Chetan's books, and that too not just once or twice...but all the problems or faults presented in the movie can be traced to his novels but not all the answers where the film scripters win.

In my last post I did not mention one of my other selection of real heroes-ANIMAL WELFARE ACTIVISTS.They are truly the VOICE of the VOICELESS.The animals they help cannot sing their praise yet the activists selflessly fight for the rights of these innocent animals.Working for your own species is great but protecting the rights of others is what makes humans REAL HUMANS.Menoka Gandhi once said in reply to a man who accused her of wasting time on animals-When your heart opens out ,it should open out to all.How true!

My real Hero is Actor Surya in Tamilnadu who started "Agaram Foundation" for the purpose of poor childrens to get their basic education to succeed in their life. Each and every indian should get their basic education irrespective of their poor nature. 100% literature can't be achieved only by the process of Govt. Many Agaram Foundations to be start to achieve this milestone..

our soldiers who are there on border on front, are our heros. there is nothing on this earth that can change this very fact. they are there only and only for us, so selfless and sacrificing they are. they are giving up their lives for others. take any soldier, and he would be deserving this honour.. thanks to all of them..

I am a great admirer of the nice initiative by CNN-IBN for honoring real heroes of India. I am happy to see that CNN-IBN has asked viewers to suggest real heroes around us. I would like to suggest two person who has started a nice initiative for choosing the rural talents of Orissa.

His name is Swadhinananda Pattanaik and Sandip dasverma. He was a mathematics professor in Utkal University. Every year rural mathematics talented students are chosen by an exam. Then they prepare them for Math Olympiad.

Real heroes are there in every field .they are the ones who do something new, something that will benefit the masses. They do not walk in the path shown by others, but create their own new paths.Others follow. They do not care what society says. They do what is right, good for all.
Under the present circumstances,Iwould vote for Amir Khan as my hero.Through his films he has taught the masses to think differently.Rang De Basanti has triggered the youth to change the SYSTEM,Tare Zameen Par spoke about the speciality hidden in every child,3Idiots have brought forth the pressure on students and how to tackle it. He deserves a lot of praise.
