Hostage crisis: Has the Bihar government been callous in dealing with the situation?

Hostage crisis: Has the Bihar government been callous in dealing with the situation?

TimePosted by IBNLive at 05:40 PM, Sep 03, 2010 in IBNPolitics

Bihar is the latest state reeling under the Naxal menace. On Friday, one of the four abducted policemen, Lokus Tete, was found murdered. Social activist and Naxal sympathiser Swami Agnivesh has blamed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the death of Tete. He termed the Nitish Kumar government as being callous having lost precious time in dealing with the situation. Do you think the Bihar government has been 'callous' in dealing with the situation?

has this agnivesh gone bonkers? who is he to say to not provoke maoists?
He should be treated a lesson or 2 by nationalist if ever talk again such a thing. Foolish of him to blame CM on this. quite a moron this agnivesh is. PC is right in crushing this menace. I hope he keep his timeline.

The most tough, Israelis negotiated with the terrorists when they found no other way to save its citizens. Here Gov. is facing home grown extremists and not international terrorists. Should have initiated negotiation without worrying, being branded as weak. When Mr Chidambaram wanted tough action against naxalites, Bihar distanced it self from it. Now in a hostage situation, knowing fully well that, they have no wherewithal to attack and get the hostages released, should have used the office of some negotiators. But how ever wrong to call the govt. callous, for the CM has to face so many political compulsions, that deter him from taking firm and harsh decisions. But it is high time either to support tough action as proposed by the home minister or go soft, enter into some kind of amicable sttlement and save the life of citizens.

Such incidences are wake-up call to Indian nation, nee, middle class Indians.

Can't blame any one person: CM is in a fix like anyone else: if he gives in to abductors' demand, Indian nation looks weak. if he let's Abhay Yadav die, the poor in India again face the brunt.

Point is WE have to wake up and put things in place and do it quickly.

We middle classes neglected the rural classes, we didnt protest collectively against corruption at all levels which has today led to Naxals, a bunch of gandus, taking advantage of poor peoples' angst.

Options:
1) let yadav and co die, but in counter offensive finish off 30 of naxals for doing this; darr hi darr ko kaatta hai

2) Concede to their demands, and get our men back

3) Concede to their demands this time, BUT WORK like a maniac to make Police up-to-date to finish off the Naxals & after that be humble and proactive enough to give a clean system of governance to the Indian poor!

It is probably the toughest situation in man of reforms, Nitish Kumar's political career but if he releases these Maoists tomorrow we will have some more incidents like this. Moreover Congress party people talk about this incident in coming Bihar elections and media campaigns for Congress party as usual is did in 2009 elections where Sonia started about Kandahar incident where that decision was taken on the human grounds. So i think Nitish will take care of this incident.

NITISH was so callous that he went to extend OF SNUBBING the SOBBING family of the police officer as if they have come there to waste his time.

Insensitive showed by NITISH WAS ONLY BECAUSE he was OVER OCCUPIED with the ELECTION STRATEGY and SEAT SHARING related issues and HE just did not want to WASTE HIS TIME ON 4 LIFE'S OF POLICE OFFICER.

for him it was just a day to day affairs which BUREAUCRAT would handled it.
