Roads are an indicator of a country's economic progress and growth. In India, however, roads speak a different story. Potholes are a common feature of all roads in Indian metros. Which city, according to you, has the worst roads?

We feel great to announce to world that we had cities competing with each other on worst road competition. We Indians have so many different cultures, languages, religion etc. but,our politicians & local authorities make sure that we are united across country on potholes. Our problems are same, cities might differ but services provided are same.
We can even abondon our Moon trip programme & can show young generations Moon Surface here in India. Thank you very much !!!
I wonder if our cities have so much bad roads, what will be the conditions of villages! Is there any road?
Let us not discuss which city had more potholes problem, let us find out solutions...

Can we have Gurgaon as an option? Delhi may be good with roads but step out into Gurgaon and you will find ponds, puddles and drains filled with toads!

Ever since the Congress party has come to power in Haryana, roads, electricity, water has gone down the drain (Actually there are no drains either!! so its all lying on the roadside with a lot of garbage).

Can you imagine, people come from other countries and step out of a state of the art building and see this.

I completely agree with your poll which shows Bangalore, the city which is often called the IT 'Capital' of India and touted as a future 'Singapore' of South India/Karnataka, has the worst roads. It is just not some byelanes but even main arterial roads in the city which are in a bad shape. A few months back I sent an email to the Commissioner of Bangalore Corporation attaching pictures of the road near my home(central Bangalore, near Bangalore Club). The response I got was surprising- ' I dont have time to open attachments'.It is just not the civic authorities that are at fault but also the educated(and the uneducated) public in the city. They really have no civic sense at all. Garbage is dumped on to the roads which are already in a bad state, two/four wheeler drivers dont care a damn about traffic lights, one way and no entry signs. While it is perfectly alright to demand explanation from the civic authorities for the state of bad roads and the need to repair them on a war footing, it is equally the responsibility of the public to cooperate with the civic and traffic police by refraining from dumping garbage on to the roads and following the traffic rules.

It's undoubtedly Bangalore!!! This is a no brainer in the minds of most Bangaloreans!

Despite being the apple of the eye from an IT and ITES perspective, the curve of having consistent bad governance has let us to have the WORST INFRASTRUCTURE in the entire country. Promises of bettering infrastucture seem to remain election manifestos and nothing seems to be moving from a perspective of upgrading or enhancing our infrastructure.

Bangaloreans are fed up and will for sure consider options to move out of this bottlenecked city pretty soon if nothing changes! The current government has a make it or break it chance to rise above the ordinary and make a meaningful impact to Bangalore's infrastructure. The city waits - in suspended animation and enduring traffic jams!

New Delhi August 2008: I had a guest from abroad for dinner and went to leave him about 5 km's of pot holes away.

On the way he asked me if I had seen the Chinese Olympic Opening/closing ceremonies. The Commonwealth Games, he said, are next most imp event to the Olympics. "With these kind of ROADS - one can clearly imagine the state of New Dehli's preparedness in hosting them."

You can surely imagine how embarrassing it was. Is this the capital of "Incredible India" or a place where Citizens hang their heads in shame while Corrupt Administrators, greedy Contractors and Foreign Travelling Politicians just do not care.
