Sister Alphonsa is now Saint Alphonsa

Posted by bibinanto at 11:45 AM, Oct 13, 2008

I personally dont agree the sainthood given to Sis. Alphonsa if it is based on the miracle happened in Kerala. If that is the case, why dont we bring all the miracles to the notice of Pope. Benedict XIV??? vatican took this many years to crown her as saint. She died even before I born in this world, I dont know what suffering she could have faced during here period. Let us protect our people who are alive and being killed for nothing by the unofficial organization which are running in the name of religion.

Its a good thing and not against anything for Sis. Alphonsa from Vatican. But what about today's people??? Many are dying in India & across the world. I request the people of kerala to not to make church out Alphonsa's name! There is only one GOD!

Thats it

By honouring a great soul we honour human values and virtues. It is nice that she has been recognized. But let us also understand that there have been a number of women saints in India and Sister Alphonsa is not the first (no disrespect to her). The News papers have reported the matter wrongly. She is the first woman Catholic saint but we had a number of women Saints in our history like Saint Meera, Saint Akkamahadevi etc..

Yes, this is the most exciting moment for the Christians especially Catholics in our country. Because now we got our own saint, the most saint Sister Alphonsa. She made us proud be an Indian through her sufferings and compassion through God. Her canonization gives us the power to protect our faith and she will be the shining star of Indian Catholic church. Her life will be an inspiration for every Christians in the country.

Do you know how many Indian woman saints were there before this?

Do you know about Sri Andal of Tamilnadu, Mata Akkamahadevi of Karnataka, Meera Bai of Rajasthan, Sathi Sakkubai of Maharashtra and many more. Are they not India's pride. Why are you shamefully publishing whatever Vatican says is a pride. I condemn Your anti-India, Anti-Hindu attitude.

Im a catholic and I am happy yes. For all my fellow posters.....becoming a saint is long process and it is the same for someone in America and Japan. So stop with the crap about how long it takes for recognizition. As for the extremists who talk about conversion.....take a good look around and see how many have been converted...do you think conversion is what sets the bombs off in all our cities?
Get real we have bigger issues than conversion and the fact is that we indians are prided for our secularism, dont tarnish it with your extremist crap. I dont care about conversion or who is christian or who is Hindu or Muslim, or Buddhist. I care for my fellow Indians who get killed for nothing. It does not matter what you are, it matters what you do. Killing is never justified no matter what the reason. As for Sushma swaraj making that comment on the Pope today on national television is such a nasty dig, comment on how one can solve the bomb issues that plauge us..if you can solve it. I am an Indian first and and my religion has got nothing to do with what goes on. Religion is supposed to make us kind, love one another not fight like kids. Wake up! People who try so hard to use religion as a strategy are not hindus, or muslims, or christians they are extremists, nothing more and nothing less! They just want to destroy us all and the only way is through religion because we are so fearful of God, which is a good thing. but does it make us blind to extremist crap!! No way! Wake up look around you, nobody gives a damn.

Glory be to the Lord. It's a proud moment to all my Roman Catholic brothers and sisters, to all my Indian brothers and sisters, and last but not the least a very special moment to my Keralite brothers and sisters. Long live Roman Catholicism.

It is a matter of pride even for Hindus that an Indian woman Sister Alphonso is to be canonised as a Saint at Vatican. To attain this very high standrd is required and the woman who is no more cameup to the expecations of the Vatican for such a cononisation. We Hindus are as much happy as our Christian friends. We have nothing against them. But only forcible conversions are not liked and insulting Hindus through some defamatory pamphlets by some mischievous missionaries should stop.

Hi, I am Christian and I am also against the conversion being enforced to human beings. But we should also understand that, human beings (whether it can be PM or CM or President or whatever big names) doesnt have any right to stop people who are converting on their own. Let us dont make a messy situation in India in the name of religion. Its common man's wish to be in what faith he wants to be!

God Bless You!

Thanking God for this gift! Alphonsa is a saint from whom we can learn the virtue of silent suffering. Todays world complain about anything and everything. Let's learn to accept the difficulties that come our way without complaining.
