One person was killed and at least 9 were injured after a section of under-construction flyover for the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) flyover collapsed in East Delhi's Shakarpur area early on Sunday. Comment.

It a shocking news.DMRC was so carefuly doing it's work for the last many years but this accident has gone against their reputation.Whenever such heavy and dangerous activities are undertaken,no traffic should be allowed to pass through that site and area should be cordoned to avoid this kind of unforeseen/mishaps.
Let the autorities take extra care in futue and try to help the victims to the best way possible.

Thanks to corrupt practices and the poor quality of construction materials used, the flyover collapsed during construction killing
only one person! We must thank GOD for it.If it were to happen
after the flyover was thrown open to traffic use,the calamity
would have been multifold, and many more would have died.As unsal
now a judicial enquiry will be announced or a special review committee of experts will be appointed to make a detailed study
and report it to the Govt.and the whole tragedy will be forgotten
soon,till the next collapse happens!!!

The construction of flyovers is a painstaking process and it's amalgam of art & science, plus processes, techniques & technologies. Now a days, NOT adequate attn is paid into various aspects such as detailed planning, excavations for foundation-stones/pillars depending on the soil conditions, correct usage of various inputs such as the river-sand, TOR steel for making the reinforced concrete, quality cement, etc, besides the human resources who've adequte experience & expertise to judge the load-bearing capacity of every inch of such bridges at every stage. In the advanced countries like the USA, enormous amounts of money & time are spent for bldg thousands of such flyovers & bridges and that's why they outlive human beings and stand as a testimoney for their earlier generation's expertise & collossal hard-labour .. Unfortunately, we've aped the American culture to make & eat the fast-foods like the Pizzaas but NOT bldg bridges as they did !! Our people's creed for making quick-bucks NEVER STOPS and hence, we'd continue to witness such calamities !!

Very sad, but did it fall due to a structural defect or dishonesty of contractors( Not a surprising occurrence in that den of iniquity called Delhi), who supplied dubious quality raw materials!
