Gilchrist slams Tendulkar, calls him a 'bad sport'. Do you agree? | Read Story

Adam Gilchrist has blamed Sachin Tendulkar of not being gracious in defeat. Gilchrist says that Tendulkar shirks from a handshake if he ends on the losing side. He also criticises Tendulkar's role in the 'monkeygate' scandal involving Harbhajan Singh and Andrew Symonds.

The typical Aussie cry babies....Three generations of Australia couldn't handle Sachin on the field. Be it Mark taylor, Steve Waugh or Ricky Ponting so now they have come to their age old tricks of sledging...What's surprising is they are doing it off the field....It's very disheartening and the only cricketer who had some respect for himself from me in Australia also lost it big time today...I feel sorry for you Adam gilchrist that knowing it all you still are blaming Sachin for something he would never even think of leave aside doing it...

It's all mere a bullshit!!!

Had anyone under the sky ever seen Sachin involved in any kind of controversy yet? The Answer is big "NO" for sure... He has been ever gracious and kind while accepting "Wins" or "Loses"...
He has been a person of olf great humility ever since he held his bat and enetered the Crisketing arena..
This aligations made by Gilly is just an attempt to shadow all controversies and curiosity created after embarassing loss at Mohali recently in Australia against their "National Heros"....

Gilly has been always regarded as a highly ethical and spirited sportsperson.. but can not believe and digest that he would use this "Highly Irresponsible" way of supporting and encouraging his fellow ex-team mates.... He would have given some professional advise to lift of this game rather than cajoling and misdirecting the team as well as the Cricket lovers at large...

Anyone becomes great because of the fact that the masses love and adore them.. this remark of Gilly would not hamper Sachin's image in the eyes' of sport's lover.. but it would certainly going to affect Gilly's image all across....

Aside, if at all Gilly has to make such remarks, it was exected to finish his homework properly pertaining to "the most Controvertial on-field case ever" in the history of the game....
(Gilly was even not present in the final hearing-how did he get to know the conflicting statement made by Sachin)....

So Mr. Gilly-this time you are unethical and poor spirited.. Sorry to say, though i still adore you, you made terrible mistake to downgrade your image... it's not an insult to Sachin, rather an insult to all Sachin's fan all across the globe including Australia.......

Let me produce some more evidences after this Youtube strings..
let me reproduce a couple of paragraphs from Justice John Hansen's decision after the hearing on January 30, 2008. Justice Hansen flew in from New Zealand to hear Harbhajan Singh's appeal against match referee Mike Procter's decision to ban the Indian off-spinner.

Let us take Para 17 first. "Mr Symonds accepted that Mr Tendulkar of all the participants was closest to Mr Singh. A viewing of the video shows that people were moving around but certainly Mr Tendulkar appears to have been closest to Mr Singh in the course of the heated exchange we are concerned with. Contrary to reports that Mr Tendulkar heard nothing, he told me he heard a heated exchange and wished to calm Mr Singh down. His evidence was that there was swearing between the two. It was initiated by Mr Symonds. That he did not hear the word "monkey" or "big monkey" but he did say he heard Mr Singh use a term in his native tongue "teri maki" which appears to be pronounced with a "n". He said this is a term that sounds like "monkey" and could be misinterpreted for it."

Again, let us consider Para 46 from Justice Hansen's decision. "Mr Procter also noted in his decision that he did not consider the umpires or Mr Tendulkar were in a position to hear the words. I have of course had the advantage of seeing extensive video footage which in fact establishes that Mr Tendulkar was within earshot and could have heard the words. Indeed, it is now clear Mr Tendulkar did hear the exchange but not the words alleged."

If Symonds %u2013 and, more importantly, Justice Hansen accepted that Tendulkar was closest to Harbhajan Singh, what is Gilchrist raking up now?

It will be interesting to see what he has to say about his own team-mates. For instance, he was complaining only recently about his own team-mates, former team-mates actually. He referred to his own philosophy of 'walking' and told an ABC-organised debate on sportsmanship that the (lack of) popularity of that within his teammates may be shown by the fact that since his retirement, they do not reply to any e-mails, phone calls or text messages

well as far as gilchrist's claims are concerned, he is absolutely true....... though m a big fan of both tendulkar and gilchrist, but tendulkar is no less mean when need comes. when harbhajan slapped srisaanth during an IPL match, at that time he was asked to comment on the incident which tendulkar saw happening in front of him and because of the fear of getting into the bad books of the BCCI and the IPL guys, he left alone harbhajan on his own. He should have said something atleast being the captain of mumbai team when he was asked to comment. Though i don't really say that tendulkar is a bad sport but when it comes to making centuries, i have never seen a slower batsman........... after he gets to 85 or 90 he becomes extremely slow in getting his runs which in turn destroys the momentum of the team just because of getting into record books........

Mr. Saurabh...you call yourself a tendulkar fan...but you missed a small statistic which proves your entire claim about sachin being a slow batsmen false.

After having played 400 matches having scored 40 centuries, he still has a strike rate of 86 runs per 100 balls and mind you if u dig deeper into his statistics u will see that 90% of his centuries have been at a strike rate of above 100 runs per 100 balls..

guess gilly is out of mind, when he is making such comments in his autobiography. according to me, he looks to a good businessman, we can easily make out he just needs to add some gossips and rumours to make his book popular and to grasp more readers and their attention towards his biography. Recently we have seen warne also coming out with his autobiography but wasnt too popular and many people werent even aware abt this. Gilly surely wants to grab the media attention to make his book popular and best selling in the market.
Now, the point. What do u mean by shirk handshakes :- friendship and gestures are always good and looks good only outside the stadium and not on the battle field(cricket ground). ofcourse any player would really be sad and dipressed being on the loosing side after sweating too hard for his nation...no complaints and blaming anybody on this plzz....
point 2: gilly's monkeygate :- when gilly is supporting symo in his bio, he is doing this bcoz symo is his team mate, so he should understand that the same feeling would be every where and the same team spirit will maintained and shared by other teams aswell and sachin is no special. if the aussie does some mischief or breaks discipline then its called as "Agression" but if any body else does it its a punishable and are fined..
come on gilly... open up eyes and mind..
This is purely a marketing strategy...best seen in bollywood and k's daily soap serials..
being a indian lets spread this to all.......

A man of the stature of Gilchrist cant just say such a thing... its so disgraceful that he blamed Sachin Tendulkar considered by millions the most well behave gentleman of modern day cricket.
I am really disappointed to see adam making such statement..
but as tendulkar said
'people through stones at and you convert them into milestons..'
thats the way he deals with things..

lolz....they say they play it hard on the field and then leave it and shake hands...what was the name of that guy who went on a drinking binge after they lost the Ashes to England 3 years ago??

Adam gilchrist WAS one of the very few aussies who are ADMIRED by d indians ..he has completely lost it...
after months of that incident he is now saying wat he feels...dat is sheer cowardliness... i dun no abt rest but that man has lost my regards for him ..atleast

Its just a publicity stunt to sell more copies of the book. Almost every player/coach includes something like this.

Duncan Fletcher with Flintoff
John Wright with some crap about the dressing room
Fleming about matchfixing when he named a bookie who told him that Man Utd, Agassi and some other team lost on the same day since it was all fixed!
Slater about how Waugh was a poor communicator and sidelined him
