No doubt Obama is a better candidate, he is pragmatic and unlike other politicians does not get into needless aggression. I wish we had someone like him, intelligent, educated, articulate and pragmatic.
On the other hand I used to like McCain too but after the negative campaigning by him and his party and his flip flop on all issues, save Iraq, i think he is not exactly what we can say Presidential.
Comparing US election with that in India. Well not much of a difference, we have caste lines, yes. But then they have Catholics/Mormons/Protestants, etc. We have name calling, they have more of the same. We have false promises, they have more of the same. We have Hindus and Muslims they have Christians and Muslims. Not much of a difference.. Politics remains the same.
And I believe US is the only country where being "Liberal" disqualifies you from being a president. Its actually funny, we all want a liberal person, while US roots for a conservative.
For those who think McCain has better plans on economy. Guys, in recession, it is the government who will have to spend money to keep the engines running. Private money will remain in lockers for now. And US does need stronger regulations in the Banking Industry, here they can take a leaf out of RBI's conservative approach. Though I will agree for India, McCain would have been better both strategically and economically. But for US Obama is the better person and probably for the world at large too.

It is not that i hate old people but Senator Obama should win, because Senator McCain will stick to the same strategies which Bush has implemented and will take America Nowhere

Obama is anti-outsourcing, asking India to sign CTBT and NPT and wants US to take active part in Kashmir problem. John McCain is in favor of India as he wants to invite India in G8, allow nuclear deal as it is and supports free trade. Obama might be the hero and good from immigration reforms but McCain is good for deals with India. In short, Obama is good for Indian-Americans but McCain for India. I support McCain.

Most of the people in India and around the world like to see Obama winning.

Most of the people endorsing Obama is due to policies of George W Bush.

People are believing that McCain is the carbon copy of Bush.

Bush's policies have created problems not only for USA but all the other countries around the world.

Finally the financial meltdown in USA and around the world are largely believed to have happened due to policies of Bush.

People are endorsing Obama because, people are having a blind belief that Obama can rescue USA and other countries out of this financial meltdown.

Has India learned a thing or two from American Presidential Elections? I doubt we will ever.

Look at the contrasts between two largest democracies of the world.

There, in the US, the 2 candidates appear face to face sitting across the table analyzing threadbare each national and international problem and their individual approach towards the same. Every single american citizen will know, why a particular candidate is good or otherwise. There, the would-be President CANNOT HIDE!.

Compare how our present UPA Govt assumed power! And who are all its constituents? Both defeated and victorious joined hands to hoodwink the public! And who're all in power? We have a man who was electorally DEFEATED but, his loyalty to a Nehru family and Congress got him the 2nd most powerful ministry - Home! People's verdict? No way. But who cares? And we have a PM who promises the Parliament that he will come back to secure their approval before the Nuke Deal is operationalized. But, he goes on to operationalize it, ON THE SLY! If he is supposed to be OUR GENTLEMAN Prime Minister, then one can imagine the qualities of the rest of the lot.

The US can be blamed for a few things. But, if one wants take good examples, there are plenty. Only we must have an open mind. Do we have that?

My favourite is Obama. One of the main reasons being that he has openly expressed his displeasure at Pakistan's ISI sponsored terrorism not only against Afghanistan but also against India. He is also convinced that Taliban and Al-Qaeda are being sheltered in Pakistan. He has indicated that he would attack their bases in Pakistan if such need arises. This is a good news for India and naturally we prefer him.
But MCCain does not seem to be perturbed about Pak-sponsored terrorism.
I have no doubt that Obama would win the Presidential election by a comfortable margin. There is a 'Obama wave' at present in the US.

Whoever wins the presidential elections in the USA, it's secondary for us. First observe the quality of their campaigning and the straight talk that they have. After seeing all these Indian politics, that looks to me like a very good system of politics.

I switched on CNNibn this morning on my telly to know of the sad departure of the woman who raised Barack as a child for many years while his mother was away. His Grandmother. It is a pretty known fact that Barack is half white and the grandmother in context is his white grandmother, Madelyn Dunham. Well, the sad part on the news episode was that file pictures of Barack Kenyan Grandmother were being broadcast. Its a sheer misinformation and somebody at CNNibn should set the record straight. What is ironical is that CNNibn of all news channels should be so uninformed, especially since CNN (US) polls and Election coverage is unparalleled....

I feeo McCain is the go to man as far as India is concerned. Just checked Obama's latest statement on Kashmir. Well in a way it reminds of the Nixon-Regan days when the Americans were pressuring India for resolution of Kashmir issue.

McCain to me represents the capitalist face of US of A which I think is better for India when compared to Obama who is neo-socialist. Capitalism with all its fallacies is the way to go if you want to progress. We don't need a world leader like Obama who while sensitive tends to look at world issues with a socialistic prism based on his own living experiences in third world.USA and world can ill afford the next Cesar of the Roman Empire which United States is to be overtly sensitive and emotional. What worlds is tough task master. Some who is battle hardened pro like McCain. The time of blacks would come someday for sure in USA but I don't think now is that time.

a change is required from the republicans. also since president bush's ratings have come far below to 22% is another signal for a change. sen barak obama deserves a hard fought battle win for the white house. obama has displayed exemplary cool, very high degree of oratory and was extremely courteous on debates. so barak obama should be the candidate to win this presidency.
reg indian americans opinions, a majority backs up obama. the realtions with india will be better and cordial and also business and trade should boom in the next democrat's regime. india can now and never be neglected by any force.
this is a lesson for our politicians. what is lacking in our politicians? they are educated, qualified and experienced, but cannot stand in such fierce debates as was shown by obam and mccain.
best wishes to obama....
