Will the Amarnath factor be crucial in this election?

TimePosted by IBNLive at 05:02 PM, Nov 15, 2008 in Elections

The Congress-PDP combine failed to last a full term because of the Amarnath land row. As the state goes to the polls, the Amarnath episode has returned to haunt political parties. While the Congress wants to forget it and move on, the BJP has used it in its campaign. How crucial will the Amarnath factor be in this election? Tell us.

amarnath issue will have influence in very limited pocket of j&k given the demographic profile there.
however the issue by itself demands a permanent approach towards the issue of religious freedom in this country.whole issue of land issue was raised by the anti nationals in such a way that it appeared J&k is part of some shiekhdom in middle east rather than a state of india.

Yes of course . This issue is going to be a crucial aspect of these elections. It doesnt mean that the parties like BJP or NC going to get advantage of the issue. These two parties will be , no doubt, benefical in the case but they will get benefit at the cost of PDP and Congress who emerged as the villians ..
The two months of standstill is still fresh in the minds of Jammuites and surely going to take this opportunity to teach the self centric politicians.

Yes, Amarnath factor will be crucial in this election. Parties which opposed Amarnath land transfer will face voters wrath.

Indian politicians doesnt miss a small event when it comes to elections. and this was a very big issue. obviously every politician will try to take advantage of it. either he is associated with it or not. either he has done something related to that land or not. everyone knows that indian politics is not based on progress issues but on useless isues. these issues are forcibly related to common people, on the name of religion. obviously this will be the greatest issue in these elections.

Dear Sir
Dear Friend
YES-To some extent yes.The feeling amongst the Hindus at the valley will always be against the party which last rules the state as they hasfailed to restore a parity on the Amarnath Yatra ground. It will hinge on the mind of the voters to a large.

This will slightly wean away the chances of the last ruling party. The way the trend have been, J&K this time,I think would be for the Abdullahs, but there also they might have to fall on the BJP to garner the strength and show the majority on the floor of the house.

If that situation arises, BJP should once gaian favour the Abdullahs, taking the LONG terms benefits into consideration. However Mr Jr Abdullah should be sedate and calm enough to handle the situataion, rather than balsting the way he was blasting at the parliament house on that day when the N-Deal was put before the house to save this Cong(UPA) Government

A very cool minded approach and a long term planning and the benefit that might accrue by the Abdullah Saheb and the BJP combine will help the state to restore normanlcy, else- RAM RAM JAPNA, PRESIDENT RULE APNA, WILL BE THE RESULT

Thanks
Regards
