Difficult times call for difficult measures. Worldover, the economic slowdown and recession have brought bad tidings. Job fears have added to personal insecurity and stress. How does one deal with such problems? Can spirituality help one overcome one's fears? If you have any questions for renowned spiritual expert Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, post them here. We'll take them up with him.

in india we always said about intrigity but some are gathered when time comes.is it a case linked with god i mean is all these controlled by the suprime power or our attitude measures all this. we all cellebrate, also says with high voice about communal harmony but some of us are come forward for that.i want to know about the future of indians not hindu muslim or christians.how can this will happen if we don't call us indians otherwise calling us hindu, muslim or christian.as i know all these religions are the only mean to get the blessing of the god.

I think we are confused between spiritual and phyiscal existence. Spiritual is that which cannot be explained through our physical means as on date. The problem is, as that is beyond our physical understanding or explanation people take it for granted to explain the same in their own way. There is nothing to refute or accept. If I have to give a lecture in Chinese language to audience who dont know Chinese I can tell anything and call it Chinese. It will be a grand success. If you expect spiritual will help one out of ones physical problem it is a myth created to attract gullible people. Can it be called spiritual business? It is like any other business. Anyone who lives without physical labour (unless one is disabled due to disease or old age) in the name of something else is no more than a thief according to Tolstoy. Given the luxury of living everybody will turn spiritual. Can you expect a person who doesnt know where his next meal will be to be spritual? Can he have any spritual quest? Let the so called spirituala gurus live a simple and frugal life and even starve like the have nots, then there is some meaning in their preaching. In the luxury of life it is a mockery to call oneself spiritual. I am not blaming them for what they are. Only people should udnerstand them for what they are and show them their true place Their spiritual business is just like any other business. This is targeted at the gullible people. That is all.

Guruji,
Being with you and living the knowledge, I have witnessed even in this economic slowdown Your Grace working miracles in my life. I would have been into tremendous financial mess, if not for the guidance and valuable insights that came my way just before the market meltdown. The message I have taken from you is “Don’t be over greedy. Be contented and trust that you have been provided for. I will take care of your need but not greed!!” Having complete faith in you, and knowing that I am taken care of, gives me inner strength to keep continuing, doing the BEST and retain my optimism and 'SMILE'. These testing times are an impasse and a wonderful opportunity to grow within and living responsibly.
Grateful for your continued Blessings Guruji!!

No... Sri SRI is trying to capitalize on the situation with a modern touch of marketing. HE is trying his chance for filling the void left by old conventional madathipathis with his modified Hindu preachings. He is setting up another cult which will vanish soon.

All I can say is it is better you understand what a cult is. A cult is an exclusive group whilst Art of Living is inclusive. So that rubbishes your theory. As Sri Sri said yesterday get to root or understand something before commenting on it. I held a similar view on Art of Living 1.5 yrs ago but only an actual experiential understanding gave me the real deal. Anyways if people want to call it a cult, am proud of being part of a happy cult that believes in having fun and making a difference to the world.
As far as the vanishing comment is concerned, the only thing that is vanishing is cynical people like that who just make some comment without getting to the root of anything.

Swamiji, Does sudarshan kriya help one to control his/her own mind. What I mean is, sometimes we feel that our heart doesn't listen to our mind & vice-versa. Can this be controlled through sudarshan kriya?

I have done the art of living course. I have been practising the techniques for the past 7 years... It has helped me to grow as an individual. When I did the part I course I was 22 years old... Sprituality has helped me maintain a level head and balance between work and other aspects of life.
I request all the youth in the country to do the courses offered by AOL... Since it broadens ones vision in life and makes one take responsibility towards a better and happy society.
What India needs is a stong youth who believe in providing solutions to today's problems of terrorism... poverty... inequality...stress...bad governance...education for the poor. We as the people of country have to stand up and be counted when it matters the most... THIS IS THE TIME... LET US ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN LIVES OF ALL THE CITIZENS... AND TO THE WORLD WE LIVE IN...

Some of the people posting in this forum have tended to suggest that spirituality is for the weak minded and for losers. Though they have the right to carry such a view, I would beg to differ on the following counts.
1. If spirituality is for the weak minded and is a temporary solution as suggested, you and I wouldn't have a free nation but for people like Gandhi.
2. Spirituality is not for losers as suggested unless some of you believe that Gandhi and others were losers whilst people today who moan and grumble and do nothing about problems are winners. Please go into some of work done by Art of living in Iraq & other such orgs elsewhere. Losers don't do such work
3. Please don't confuse spirituality with religion. In my master's own words - Spirituality is basically at person level. Religions have symbols, scriptures and values. At value level it is same in all religions and that is spirituality. If I can claim that I am a person first, Indian next and then a Hindu, am truly spiritual.
4. Please don't generalize spirituality by your knowledge of a few cooked so called spiritual leaders. People like Sri Sri are much more and has touched millions of lives (including mine). Not only is he a spiritual leader but also one of most modern & practical thinkers I have come across who can express himself to all kinds of people.
I can say this with a certain degree of confidence as I was extremely rational and always wanted to stay away from religion but Sri Sri shows the way that you can be spiritually balanced whilst maintaining your religious identity.

With due respect for your view, I tend to disagree with your point, serial no.3. I think the sequence is not proper, unless you prove it otherwise. Let me explain, the moment you think of your personality at highest priority, you tend to build a behavior of greed/selfishness. Now, you might say that if the person is good, then he will be good to the society and therefore the country and humanity as a whole, etc. Here the word %u2018good%u2019 is a qualifier for the term personality. And therefore %u2018Good%u2019 becomes the priority, which means whatever is contained in the word good gains the highest order of priority. Now the question, what%u2019s %u2018good%u2019? Here come the religions and scripts attached to it %u2013 I mean religious scripts teaches us all %u2018good%u2019 things. So to me, it%u2019s the other way around.

I really appreciate things described here for Gandhiji.
But there is lot of difference between Gandhi and Sri Ravishankar and the most prominent being the Truth.
When looked into this with pragmatic mind we find a lot of question.
1.Why Ravi Ratnam named himself as Sri Sri RaviShankar(In India in spiritual lines there is this story of a boy who was not happy with his name ........a household story )
2.Where from this Sudarshan Kriya came%u2026.have the disciple of Sri Sri thought of (devotion is good but only if based on knowledge and not ignorance)
Ofcourse I don%u2019t deny the merit of Sri Sri teachings for starters and but it is not the last destination
As Buddha said nothing is permanent so this hard times will also pass by and as is said in Gita that we should do our work and everything will fall in place.
I saw the interview and I felt that there were mere answers and not the solutions which could have eradicated the roots of the problem itself.

Most recently, I met an IT professional from Assam in a tragic state, where both his parents have been murdered by anti-social elements and seem to have lost all his hopes on Judiciary and he is in absolute turmoil. In the midst of all these, he gets a pink slip \" where it says, look for an opportunity outside in next three months? He being ardent supporter of AOL, we spoke to him about Universal love, and the various healing techniques employed at AOL. Even though, he agrees, he was hell bend on getting justice. Now, assuming that getting justice is also essential for a harmonious living (as defined in AOL). Could you please guide us to the AOL way of receiving justice and thereby establishing a stress-free and harmonious life? I hope, this IT professional from Assam is watching this program.
