Pay tribute to Mumbai

Pay tribute to Mumbai's saviours.

TimePosted by IBNLive at 01:34 PM, Nov 29, 2008 | Updated at 03:08 PM, Dec 05, 2008 in India

Mumbai's darkest hour may be over for now. But the road ahead is a long one. Families have been broken, the city's landmarks have been destroyed and the trauma and anguish of coping with a bustling Mumbai reduced to complete vulnerability is inexplicable. Also shocking is the loss of lives of the saviour souls who didn't think twice before rushing to save the lives of others -- the brave NSG commandos, ATS officials and the valiant policemen who died in the line of action. The spirit lives on. Here's paying tribute to Mumbai's saviours. May their soul rest in peace.

My Tribute to all the people ho suffered and sacrifised their lives in mumbai attack.
My suggestion is that there should not be any corruption regarding the security is conserned. New way of opproach should be brought to takle terrorism.

We are all proud of our saviours but we need to ensure that their heroism and martyrdom does not go a waste. We need to ensure that our police is better equipped ,better managed and freed from the clutches of the political control. The armed forces have been given a raw deal by the sixth pay commission and no one is addressing their grievances. For how long will our bravehearts suffer in silence;it is only their death which is sometimes glorified.

OUR HEROES DESERVE BETTER

Here's a salute to all those brave policemen and commandos who glaid their lives in line of duty ! A prayer for every Indian citizen and visitor to India who became target of the terrorist attack ! I still have belief in God's ways ! Every individual who has knowingly and unknowingly contributed to this bloodied massacre of God's own creation, will definitely pay ! So perpetrators of this heinous act, beware ! There is something called divine justice, which I am sure will prevail!

A hurt INDIAN,
Vatsala Kamath

As common citizens of this nation we all stand and pray for the families of the departed souls.

It is important that we the citizens of India should now vow to channelise this anger constructively and do every bit of what we can do to make this nation a better place to live. For example we can make small groups in our localities that meets each other and discusses the activities going around in that locality. This way we will remain more informed of who our neighbours are and if some suspicious activity is going on around us.

Security is everybody's job now, just like keeping the city clean is everybody's job. We need to have strong civilian intelligence system and proactive citizens to fight this menace. Neither the state nor the central govt. can deliver on this account unless the citizens remain alert and informed.

The problem with India is that most of these terrorists can mix in our society easily because of having the same skin colour and coming from the same race of civilisation. So, the only way we can prevent big attacks is by having strong and informed social groups and civilian intelligence system.

Every time when any security forces (military, nsg, task force, etc.,) fight bravely for protecting our country and people, we salute them and that is the end of it. But they deserve much more than just our good words. It is a known fact that these security forces are not paid a good salary and when some one sacrifice his life their families will also do not get enough support from the concerned authorities.

We need these forces for a safe and secure nation and not the corrupt politicians. Unfortunately the money spent on useless politicians is 100 times or even more than what spent for the the Security forces welfare. This is a de motivating factor. We pay all kinds of taxes out of our hard earned money and most of it is eaten up by the corrupt politicians and their administration people at all levels.

We need to do something concrete to the welfare of the security forces and their families who sacrifice their lives for the safety and security of the people of this country. HERE IS A SUGGESTION THAT SHOULD BE DEBATED AND DISCUSSED BY THE MEDIA.

CREATE A TRUST FOR THE WELFARE OF ALL KINDS OF SECURITY FORCES AND THEIR FAMILIES. This trust should have trustees from Nationalised Banks, Media Companies, Corporate Heads, Judicial, Defence and Respected Citizens like Narayana Murthy. NO POLITICIANS SHOULD BE A TRUSTEE AND SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY KIND OF CONNECTION WITH THE MANAGEMENT OF THIS TRUST.

Public will donate money to this trust directly as per their individual wish. This money will be used for the benefit of the martyrs and their deprived families. The Trustees can formulate procedures, rules and policies on how best this fund should be used.

THE FINANCE MINISTER SHOULD PASS AN ORDINANCE FOR MAKING THESE DONATIONS 100% TAX FREE WHICH THE FUND DESERVES. IF THE GOVT. DO NOT AGREE FOR TAX EXEMPTION FOR THIS FUND WE SHOULD FILE A PETITION WITH THE PRESIDENT OF INDIA FOR THIS.

This will be long term and a permanent tribute what we the people can pay to those real heroes who pledge their lives for us.

My special request to the media to take up this matter seriously and bring it into action as only you can do it.

My heart goes heavy by the mear thought that we have had to go through such an ordeal where we had to loose our dear brothers. It is such a great honour and daring that they upheld the nations virtue even ahead of their own life.I take this oppurtunity to put my hearty condolence and prayers for the martyrs and their beloved kins that they left behind, even thousand words will not be enough to qoute their sacrifice, all I can assure,is that if I will be put into such a situation I shall put my countrys pride above my life as the martyrs have done and will not let thier scarifice go in vain,Jai Hind

Security forces especially in general and armed forces in particular are treated as sacrificial goat in this country.
Not long back media channels were inviting debates on the issue of orderlies and other tradition of army and were competing with each other to demonize it after Malegaon probe started.
We shudder to imagine if armed forces reaches the standard equal to the other arms of government of India.
Let us take a pledge not to demoralize our security apparatus and stop generalizing its aberrations.
