After Home Minister Shivraj Patil, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister RR Patil resigns. What's your say? | Read story

A day after Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil stepped down from his position, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister RR Patil on Monday quit after NCP chief Sharad Pawar asked him to tender his resignation. Comment.

Both Patils, in the act of resigning, have displayed cowardice. Shivraj Patil said ' A big burden was taken off his shoulders' through his resignation. If he had one iota of dedication or courage he would have said ' It is unfortunate that I had to resign as the Home Minister at such a distressing time'. Did he accpet the Home Ministership under the condition that the country will have no terrorist attacks and he can peacefully spend five years at the cost of the exchequer? The other Patil said little and was pushed out without him saying much, lest he put his foot again in his mouth. He never apologised for the breach in Bombay's security but quit. Shameless and unrepentent was his behaviour.

Neither of these two jewels in our political crown seem to know that it requires guts to publicly acknowledge their ineptitude and apologise to people who elected them. They continue to think that they are Royalty, appointed by the British Crown to rule the lowly Indians.

politicians will come & go, but remember the babus will be still there, even on extension after retirement,& still not accountable to the people who pay their salary by paying taxes, & responsible for all ills in the country.

If we hound the scalp of politcians, babus will have the last laugh.

So India decide whom u want to change.

I think such steps will do no good to the citizens of India, who fall prey to the hatred of millitants and blame game of politicians. The resignations of the ministers is of least importance and can't solve the issue of terrorism.Rather than these petty political changes ,the govt. should change its way of working and take immediate actions against the terrorists who planned this attack ,they should be brought to book as soon as possible.

it is good at least 2 of them are sacked, though it is not enough. It is actually a collective failure. The entire system is rotten. Manmohan singh is the Kumbakaran of the era. He got up after 200 deaths, will soon fall asleep. Is it the result of a poor opposition?

Mr. Shivraj Patil has already enjoyed and reaped the fruits of his loyalty to Sonia during his four year tenure. Axing him was just a face saving exercise by the congress who will never admit that it was too little and too late.

only resignations? but who is accountable?
no body even speaks about the heads of IB and FBI who have totally failed to crack a suspected attack.

I think after all that we have gone through we are again fooled by our politicians. They are now trying to diffuse the public anger by making Vilasrao Deshmukh and RR Patil resign and instead of holding them accountable for all that has gone wrong both of them have quietly escaped from the public glare. Their high commands are keeping the innocent citizens busy by speculating who will be replacing them and we are again falling in the same trap. Question that I want each one of us to ask is.
1) Does the responsibilty of CM & Deputy CM with a resignation end after screwing up with the life of almost 500 innocent people not to forget the trauma faced by millions watching it on tv.2)Why should we allow our CM and Deputy CM to get off so cheaply. 3)Why can't we press charges against our CM and Deputy CM for not doing their job even after taking an oath. 4)How can we trust the new CM, after all the appointment is another big game played between Sonia Gandhi, Shard pawar and like of others. I Request everyone to stop begging in front of the politicians for providing security but start demanding it now..

resignations are becoming common in India. We have to see these resignations in four ways.
Has he resigned thinking of being not capable or else not able to bare the talk about him??
Has he resigned thinking as It is his fault ??
(First question leads to next one but differs a lot)
Is it going to giv something our country??
Why is he resigning now after the whole attack?

If any politician abide by his duty then he will not resign!!He stays and lead his party and poeple to his extent. If he finds he is not capable of holding his duty he should share it!!Or else in extreme cases he will resign untill he find a perfect successer for that duty!!Now,lets think what these RR Patil and Deshmuch did?

They did a right job?Not at all. They wanted to get out of criticism to their will. Why vilasrao Deshmuch was asked to resign by High Command??Doesn't he hold the responsibility as a CM??Does his high Command think him as CM?It was not his fault ,Even Ratan Tata confirmed that they are warned of such strikes,Coastal guard has also failed..!!Then its not fully his fault, then why High Command is not considering it???What can he do if Maharashtra Police are not aware??This shows Congress is not seeing perfectly, they are not aware of facts!!they are taking decisions instantaneously without refering it to the future!!(this comment of mine is true, U can see it clearly)Everyone thinks Congress has big heads, but they lack instant logic!!They should introspect themselves alot..

It is all about that they all are running at the crucial time when India needs there vision then these people are resigning this is only a political stunt these people dont have harmoney for the people who died on mumbai attack. if they have sympathy then Goverment should attack on to the teerorist camp and destroy them so that no terror attack should be done in the future.
