Prevention is better than cure. In order to counter terrorism I think it necessary to analyse our system, look for the loopholes and plug them.

I have covered terrorism for about two decades as a journalist. I was quite curious as to how sleeper agents establish their bases in our country. Terrorists certainly need local support to carry out their nefarious activities.

While I was investigating as to how sleeper agents of the terrorists manage to establish their bases in our country, I came across a very stunning modus operandi adopted by the sleeper agents.

It is very simple. The sleeper agents from Pakistan on a regular visa enter India. Some of the agents deliberately overstay here. The day they return for their country, they are caught at the border and are booked under the foreigners act. They are sent to jail from where they manage to get bail from the court.

The case keeps on dragging and they start living in our country legally. After some time they jump bail and vanish. Gradually they manage to create their own identity. Some of them even get married here and no one can suspect them to be involved in terrorist activities. They keep on following instructions from their bosses in Pakistan.

Another modus operandi adopted by theses sleeper agents is that after they arrive in our country through legal channel they commit some petty crime and get booked by the police. From the court they are granted bail. The case keeps on dragging and one day they jump bail and vanish. They use credit cards to withdraw money and their bosses deposit the money into their accounts for carrying out their activities.

About two years ago, I had apprised Karnal Singh the chief of the Special Cell of the Delhi police sighting him several instances in black and white and had asked him to take up the matter with the government so that no more sleeper agents can establish their bases here.

But unfortunately nothing has been done so far probably the chief of the anti-terrorist wing simply forgot to take up with the government about such a serious flaw in our law.

The simple solution to this problem is that foreign nationals should not be granted bail even when the offence is bailable. Their cases should be tried in fast track courts and after their release they should be immediately deported to the country of their region.

TO STOP THE ADVANTAGE TO TERRORISTS OF LIVE TELECAST!!!!!!!!

That to counter the advanced terror techniques & misuse of live telecast, already a public interest litigation has been filed by Adv. Praveen Verma at M.P Highcourt Of Jabalpur way back on 2-12-2008 seeking formation of a committee of highly specialized & trained military/paramilitary/N.S.G/police officers to monitor &control live telecast of sensitive operations like hostage rescue mission ,matters of internal security & when there is danger to lives on a REAL TIME BASIS i.e 'As soon as it happens'

The aim being that live telecast gives all informatoin on real time basis to the terrorists & their masterminds who consolidate accordingly and new instructions given over satellite phones while our commandos are unaware of strength & location of terrorists & hostages

It has been asked that a committee of technical persons be formed instead of govt. machinery, I.A.S officers or ministers who have no knowledge ,technical expertise or experience what so ever in these matter & have utterly failed in tackling such situation endangering lives. It is asked that such committee would immediately impose a time delay of 2-3 hours in instant live telecast of such sensitive operations to avoid any advantage to the terrorist .

The instant live shots/video coverage with ZOOM CLOSEUP or strategic LOCATION OF COMMANDOS,HIGHLIGHTED PROCEDURAL DETAILS i.e when & how many N.S.G commandos are there, specific details of COMMANDOS DROPPING VIA HELICOPTER AS SHOWN IN THE 'MUMBAI TERROR ATTACKS' has given enormous advantage to the terrorists.

"THIS HAS TO STOP.YOUR ANY HELP IS SOLICITED IN HIGHLIGHTING THIS SENSITIVE & URGENT MATTER.HELP,SUPPORT & ADVERTISE THIS CAUSE TO BUILD A PUBLIC APPEAL"

What Are We Waiting For?

We have waited for Kashmir militancy, Kargil, Parliament attack, attacks all across the heartland of India and of course the favorite target Mumbai to burn once again.
Which Pakistan should we wait for to respond - the ISI-Military-'Jihadi' Pakistan which is celebrating and waiting for things to cool down so that they can launch another terrorist attack on Indian soil or the impotent civilian government and the civilian Pakistan which is struggling for an identity, remains in denial mode and will do nothing except for some cosmetic 'action'.

There is no denying that we need to take serious measures at home with regard to policy, bureaucracy and internal security and we will see that happen this time around but it will take time. But we need to act against Pakistan too.

I think the Indian govt. so far has responded in a very measured and calculated manner considering the complexity of the situation in Pakistan, Indo-US relationship and the sentiment in India.
However, along with maintaining diplomatic and economic pressures on, its high time India flexes its military muscle simultaneously-not outright war or surgical strikes that would catch international attention and give Pakistani military a chance to regain power and respond but roughly as follows and Indian military knows best-
1. Dismantle ISI backed network in India
2. Increase presence in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and importantly Nepal such that we have strategic vantage points to monitor terrorist entry points, breeding grounds and movement routes and act decisively against them.
3. Navy must continue to grow and strengthen the security of the massive coast line, and dispersed inhabited islands in the Indian ocean.
4. Launch multiple and consistent covert operations right in the heart of militant Afghanistan-Pakistan-PoK without drawing international attention in the same manner as terrorists have done in India giving them the taste of their own medicine.

why is india asking pakistan to hand over the masterminds behind the mumbai attacks? what will india do with them other then making them comfortable in our jails and giving them free indian hospitality for years to come.we have been unable to punish those who are already captured & proved guilty wihout doubts .so why make so much fuss for just shifting them from pakistan to india.if we are really interested in punishing the guilty then let's first hang & punish those who are are in our jails &have been already sentenced to death by the supreme court.dr rajeev roy.

The terrorist attacks in mumbai clearly showed how the confidence & stature of terrorism in India is on a rise.It again reaffirms the soft, insensitive& careless approach of the present government towards terrorism. Not a single terrorist in the last 20 years has been hanged. The only persons likely to be prosecuted are perhaps few amateurs suspected for malegaon blasts & who incidentally are hindus. For the last few weeks few political parties(specially the rulling party),police &even few media channels were bent upon highlighting the nonexisting issue of hindu terrorism only for political mileage. .The main overwhelming issue of islamic terrorism can not be ignored or kept under cover for political reasons. The relatives of the killed policeman cannot stay in peace for some political leader might suggest afterwards that few of these attacks was masterminded by the police itself or some leader or pseudo intellectual might raise a fund to fight for the nabbed torrorists. There is a sense of helplessness amonst all of us.These incidence should be an eyeopener for young leaders like mr.raj thackerey that they should fight against these antinational elements ¬ against our own innocent countrymen. All indians, politicians, policeman ,commenman of any religion, any political party or region should come forward & join hands to fight unitedly against terrorism. We can only hope that the next government when comes to power is more serious ,sensitive ,tough & strict towards terrorism....dr. rajeev roy. sonepat.

We all agree that several measures are needed to combat terrorism . One important step is to punish the proven culprits at the earliest.Like Ajmal kasab's interrogation & all the legal formalities should be comleted at the earliest and he should be hanged immediately. one does not know there could be another hostage drama in the future only to free kasab. His early hanging would prevent any such possibility and would send a strong signal from india which we have been unable to do so far...dr.rajeev roy..

We all agree that several measures are needed to combat terrorism .one important step is to stop infiltration across the borders mainly those along bangladesh & pakistan. The fencing along the land borders, the vigilance and security on the borders (whether land or on the water front)should be given the top priorty. This shold be the first step towards providing beter security to indian citizens. dr.rajeev roy.

Shame on us as a nation. Terrorists roam free in india. For example the 84 riots and many other instances. How can we blame another country for letting terrorists flourish when our own PM once justified terrorism, killings, mayhem on our streets(When ever a big tree falls-----). We need to expunge that dark period from our History when that PM was at the helm of affairs in our country.. Only then we can stand together and rise to fight terrorists as a nation else many questions will continue to raise constraints.

VILASEAO DESHMUKH WAS REPLACED AS CM OF MAHARASHTRA. THOUGH NO TEARS FOR HIM. BUT CHANGING HIM IS LIKE REPLACING CM OF J & K BECAUSE THERE IS TERRORIST PROBLEM. TERRORIST TTACK ON MUMBAI WAS A FAILURE OF NAVY, COAST GUARD AND NAVAL INTELIGENCE OF INIDA. THE DEFENCE MINISTER TOO SHOULD BE SACKED. GUARDING BORDERS OF INDIA IS NOT A STATE GOVT RESPONSIBILITY. SACK THE DEFENCE MINISTER MR PRIME MINISTER
