Kerala CM insults NSG commando Sandeep Unnikrishnan

Kerala CM insults NSG commando Sandeep Unnikrishnan's family. Comment | Read Story

TimePosted by IBNLive at 09:31 AM, Dec 02, 2008 | Updated at 10:40 AM, Dec 02, 2008 in India

"If it had not been (Major) Sandeep's house, not even a dog would have glanced that way," is what Kerala CM V S Achuthanandan had to say about the family of slain NSG commando Sandeep Unnikrishnan. The Communist leader's remarks came after the slain Major's father refused to meet the Kerala CM as he didn't want to politicise his son's death. The NSG commando, who was engaged in rescuing hostages of the Mumbai siege, laid down his life while trying to save a NSG commando. At a time when the Unnikrishnans are trying to cope with the death of their young son, was there any need for the Kerala CM to display such scorn?

this is totally DISGUSTING behavior from CM of a state. Its high time we enforce high standards for politicians. He should be barred from politics and never again hold public office.

First things first he should give a public apology to the family of our Great Patriotic commando. We as responsible citizens along with Media should make sure we make politicians accountable for their actions. The evolution of civilizations have told us its only when citizens awaken and embolden, we can bring civility to our nation and prosper.

Also lets not let our spirit to die down and keep up this movement to make this Great Nation of ours prosper forever.I love my Great Country of ours to let this cheap **s politicians to take us for a ride. Mera Bharat Mahan!!

This is a classic instance of a CM out of touch with reality and far removed from the 21st Century and caught up with Communist ideology. In short "LIVING IN THE PAST"!

This is the reason the entire lot of current day politicians over 60 years in age (especially those who do not keep up with the times) need to step down from leadership and retire!

The play a significant role in dragging India and impede progress. They are in them selves a serious deter-rant to progress since they hang on to power and abrogate key ministries & decision making to themselves due to insecurity and the people of India tolerate it!

Another example is Sharad Pawar of Maharashtra. He is the actual CM and not the former Villas Rao or RR Patil.

Such de-facto control is appalling as it delays actions when it is needed right away!

Such people such as the Kerala CM lack sensibility are senile & not fit to rule the state!

I pray that this paralysis and crisis of leadership in the Public Life in India, since over 45 years ends and soon!

Can the citizens find some mechanism to probe the nexus between the so called underworld dons, politicians and police. How some people become underworld dons without the help of politicians. History repeats itself. An infamous smuggler got pardon for life. How???

Well atleast now people of the middle /uppermiddle /rich class has realized how important it is to vote, Politics in our country is become a business and to a certain extend this business is become a family business ,it has reached a point where our politicians have realized that they can do/say what ever they feel like ,they are right in a way as we Indians have a very short memory and tend to forgive everythingh and anythingh. Plz all you people vote and change your thinking and plz dont think every thingh the media shows on TV is true as after all they also run a business .

You are absolutely right, its high time we as responsible citizens of India accept responsibility and act. We are so used to criticizing the politicians that we blissfully forget we are the people who voted them to power. I think we cannot let this Mumbai Terror attack die a slow death and wait for another attack to express our feelings and forget again. We should act now!! we should stop electing these politicians back to power and teach them a lesson

''VOTE'', that's correct but whom????. All this political class are corrupt. What we need is CHANGE. CHANGE in our very constitution. First nail corruption and our divide and rule policy.
An overhauling has to be done to our Democratic country.
Thanx

You know, we can rant and scream about how we need change but the fact remains that it isn't going to come to us and say "Take me, I'm here". The word "politics" has been imbibed in us as a wrong thing. The word is not negative per se. But that's what we have seen and that's what we unconsciously believe. There should be someone who rises to the challenge, a wholly new person who says "You want change, you vote for me." But would this guarantee he would be a good leader? Do you see what happens to an independent who contests in the elections?

I have been thinking this over and have been trying to see how we can change the politics in our country and when I say 'change politics', I mean from bad to good. Its time we debated on this, not to prove a point, but to find out a way that we as people should adopt as a STRATEGY in electing our government.

Request CNN IBN to open a thread with this as subject - How do we elect an effective government with good dynamics and a strong motive to bring change?

1. The fellow cannot speak legitimately. If it was in English, it wouldn't have made a difference.
2. Its true that if it were not the Major Sandeep U we knew, there's a good chance a lot less would have turned up at his house. But that we know has made a huge difference, it shows our gratitude and respect which unfortunately some politicians are blissfully ignorant of.
3. Politics, politics, politics, politics and I can number another 97 with just the word politics. Although, I would like to add the adjective 'bad' to it. They do everything for politics. And their mighty ego is hurt if a citizen chooses not to entertain them. Well don't they scorn at people left, right and center?

I just think these people should be left at their own will and not be dragged into media spotlight. It just turns ugly because inevitably, their ego comes to the forefront. Every single time.

I totally agree with you...u r spot on. Moreover we as citizens blissfully vote these politicians back to power and then start ruing. It is we as responsibly citizens should be careful before voting these *&%$rds back. We always wait for the election commission to fix guidelines why dont we stop electing politicians who are above 60?? why dont we stop electing politicians who have criminal backgrounds?? why dont we stop electing politicians who are a public disgrace?? the part of blame lies with us becoz we are part of the system. we cannot abuse the politicans and get away...we are also responsible

Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan has sacrificed his life for a noble cause for our country. Even the school kids are praising major as a hero. The Kerala's CM must be proud to have such a person from his state, instead the CM is making Major unnikrishnan's sacrifice for his silly political snapshots. I wonder that the so called CM has doesn't even have a decency to respect Major's noble cause. Apart from this the CM has insulted the Major's family with rubbish statements. He must be made ashamed of his own statements. This can only be done by the people of Kerala state. The CM should apologize to the Major's father about his so called scorn.

I beg to differ... because I can understand Malayalam and he spoke to the TimesNOW journalist.

In his remarks there was nothing offensive for Major. Sandeep or his family. It was just a (maybe conscious) mistake done while translating his remarks from Malayalam to English....

Please refer to my blog http://njaan.wordpress.com/2008/12/03/what-exactly-kerala-cm-said/ , where I had explained everything word-by-word.

Hell with unethical journalism... condemn the act of TimesNOW!!!

It is a highly disgusting, insensitive and immature comment on the part of the Kerala CM. he should realise that its the laxity on the part of his breed of people, the politicians, because of whom ppl like major sandeep was slain. its only in india we can get to see these kind of disgusting statements made by the chief minister of the most literate and educated state in india. CM should give an unconditional apology for his crass and insensitive statement which only underlines the fact that he's not fit enough to rule. i hope the media furore that has come up wid this statement should not subside until and unless CM apologises. it should be a lesson for uneducated, uncivilised politicians of modern day india. they should think twice before they pass any sort of derogatory remarks abt anyone.. leave alone a martyr!

Mr Achutanandan the current chief minister of Kerala state has made shameful and unpardonable comments to the family of NSG Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan who died in the Mumbai attacks.

The fact that the CM went to Sandeep's house late is wrong but pardonable considering CM's busy schedule.
What Sandeeps father did was wrong but pardonable considering his state of mind after his son's death.
However the CM who had other ways to explain the situation reacted in a manner which is worng and not pardonable.

Mr Achutanandan does not deserve to be an Indian citizen. Its shameful the Government security provided to him has not been withdrawn.

Mr Achutanadan has severely insulted the families of all Indian security forces and he is not sorry for it. This is how he will continue to behave with families of our Martyr's.

I feel sorry for the officers who still have to provide him security and be around him and guard him. I know that its their duty thats why I am writing this letter to support our officers and to tell our officers that how sorry I am for them and for their families.

'Literate and educated state in India' true but Kerala's CM Achuthanandan is the most illiterate. He is 4th std. school dropout. Forget reading and talking English he cannot read Malayalam properly. So what kind of words can you expect from his mouth. When Saddam Husein was hanged he promptly expressed his condolence on the very day, but he did not attend or at least express his condolence or send someone else to attend the funeral.

Why ashamed of being a MALAYALI??? I am ashamed as an INDIAN.

This tragedy has brought all of us together, WE INDIANS. It has taken us really long to realise our identity. We want to be known and considered as Indians. These leaders have divided us based on our caste, region, religion, calls, you name it and they have done it. But now lets show them the power of and Indian. Lets take responsibility of throwing these people out of those chairs.

Lets not insult dogs by comparing this man to them. Dogs are faithful.

"The slain Major's father refused to meet the Kerala CM as he didn't want to politicise his son's death". I think that is grossly out of whack all that the father wanted was that his sons last rites are carried out without a bad taste in his mouth.

it was his sons funeral and if he dose not want you; please for gods sake please keep out, at least respect a mans sentiment!! If not his families sacrifice.

"If it had not been (Major) Sandeep's house, not even a dog would have glanced that way," well some one tell this M@#!$@#% F#$@$# son of gun we the people of India made a mistake looking you way and elected our mistake as our CM Mr V S Achuthanandan you sick mind!!

There was the need for the Kerala CM to display such scorn? Or how else would we the people of India realize we screwed up big time in the electrol process.

Did you know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the 1969 act, in section "49-O" that a person can go to the polling booth, confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone!

Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly notorious leaders have never disclosed it. This is called "49-O".

Why should you go and say "I VOTE NOBODY"... because, in a ward, if a candidate wins, say by 123 votes, and that particular ward has received
"49-O" votes more than 123, then that polling will be cancelled and will have to be re-polled. Not only that, but the candidature of the contestants will be removed and they cannot contest the re-polling, since people had already expressed their decision on them. This would bring fear into parties and hence look for genuine candidates for their parties for election. This would change the way, of our whole political system... it is seemingly surprising why the election commission has not revealed such a feature to the public....

Please spread this news to as many as you know...Seems to be a wonderful weapon against corrupt parties in India... show your power, expressing your desire not to vote for anybody, is even more powerful than voting... so don't miss your chance. So either vote, or vote not to vote (vote 49-O) and pass this info on...

"Please forward this to as many as possible, so that we, the people of India, can really use this power to save our nation". Use your voting right for a better INDIA.

Hi guys,
I feel sorry for VS.He is not a well educated man.He don't know English and he use colloquial malayalam. He was talking with great respect to sandeep's family. Unfortunately he used a word like 'patti tirinju nokkilla'. It is a very common malayalam phrase. Which is not an abusive language in malayalam. But if u transilate the same to English it does not sounds good.
