One month since 26/11, where are we?

TimePosted by priyankmg at 10:01 AM, Dec 25, 2008 | Updated at 03:57 PM, Dec 26, 2008 in India

It's been a month since the Mumbai attacks and the negotiations with Pakistan seem to be headed nowhere. On the contrary they seem to be utilizing this time frame to the best of their ability to digress from the issue at hand. The numerous instances of denials - acceptances followed by stepping-back on their statements, and then creating a ruckus about war. The latest seems absolutely ridiculous - they are now pointing fingers towards India and asking the world to press upon us to close down our terror-cells. Isn't it time we actually put our foot down and take a defining step? Or we just wait hoping their co-operation someday while they are up to such tactics? If things go the same way, then it wont be long before this incident too goes cold.

This is a vague discussion. For, any talk of hot percussion, India is at mercy of US , the latter will not give free "yes" for our demand for obvious reason. As long as we are dependent of US which the UPA government is bent upon there is no real action with language which the Pak could understand. That day is not imminent but a horizon.

Forget Pakistan. What have we done as far policy making is concerned on the internal security front? Other than a few laws, absolutely nothing else seems to have been done. So when do we come out with our candles again?

We're nowhere and as impotent as ever. All it takes, allegedly, is USD400 to bribe a border official to be allowed into the country via the sea route. This is a corrupt and venal country.

Perhaps if a couple of MPs or MLAs had died in the attack, we would have seen some action from the government. But more than the government, what are we as citizens doing? Still patronizing the parallel economy of haftas and bribes that allow the nexus of the underworld, politicians and government officials to subvert our laws and governmental systems. We still do not bother if there is an unknown vehicle or unknown persons in the premises or the vicinity of our offices and homes. Have we really changed? Choke the money supply and the rest will follow.

I think we should carefully handle the situation at this tricky moment, because war with palistan will not be good for both countries and it will be detrimental for our existence since the two countries are armed with nuclear weapons. i have my own thought of injuring pakistan by encouraging vested elements in that country to wage guerilla war against that military and thus keep engaging the military. Its absolutely ridiculous to ask U.S for help rather we should develop friendly ties with long trusted friend Russia.

well there was an attack in our house.have we secured it.still the answer is no.There is corruption in filling all sorts of police posts which indeed will compromise the service and the loyalty.Politicians the same old thugs.
so we need to secure our house first before attacking the neighbour.even now terrorists can attack or repeat the same episode in any city with ease and we will be again seeing the fight of lathis Vs AK 47, and bullets going through bullet proof vests and killing police ion service.
we will never learn from mistakes. That is India now

I am not surprised that even after a month we have not done anything on 26/11. The UPA has many agendas to complete. They are more important than the lives of our people.

Except the resignation of Shivraj Patil, what action this countrry has seen? Only empty speeches. Israel has already replied to the recent terror on it's soil. That country takes just few hours to decide, unlike us.

What to do? Israel need not please minority vote bank.

It is better to be tiny and deadly rather than big and dump.

Actually,we won't be, if we consider the following options:
1. Actual war: The Indian military has its plans, and they are the best persons to debate and execute them, away from the domain of public discussions.
2. Citizen's war: I am not talking of blowing outselves up to wage a Jihad against Pakistan. But I am calling for a debate on how we, the citizens of India, can wage a jihad against the money flow that feeds the Pakistan terror factory.
Any ideas ?
