The film got the second highest number of nominations, including best director for Danny Boyle, best picture and two of the three song slots. Bhanu Athaiya won an Oscar for best costume for Richard Attenborough's 1982 film Gandhi, while Satyajit Ray was given a Lifetime Achievement award.

why do u have to bring in srk every time.it shows ur charcter.Grow up man he is the most popular man from Bollywood,u go to any place outside india and say u r from india and the first thing they ask u is abt sharukh khan.Man its not srk claiming its credible people like newsweek who has put him in the powerlist of the world. Now u will feel SRK had a hand in that too.

Brilliant.
Rahman from Roja has been enthralling us and this is the crown he deserves-not 1, not 2, but he should get 3 oscars.

India have lost oscars for many films for having non-situations songs in the movie.
We can never do away with it.So this time with Rahman getting nominated, just hope this man gets the Oscars and prove that after all the songs by indian music directors are world-class.

And honestly speaking, this man deserves every part of the Oscars by his sheer calibre and genuis.

All the best Rahman
